Oh wow. Easy to forget what a wrecking ball he was. Speed, power, balance, skill. So many opposition supporters I know have no idea how good he was. Dopes.

Great post TOO, what a legend this man is. And how ape like was he then? All hail the CHIMP.

Can’t say I’m really enjoying watching him play atm.
Seen snippets this season, and has actually put some good games together but overall the end can’t come quick enough for the great one.
Happens to all champions, but still sad to see.

Thankfully he played really well in his 300th game making it a really memorable one for him and us fans

It may well turn out by then that the North game is likely to be his last ever home game at the ‘G.
If so - hopefully it becomes an even bigger occasion than the 300th with a huge crowd, another great Cotch performance and a win - and then a huge send off afterwards.

Why have our older players fallen off a cliff Cotchin Riewodlt Grimes Sony Brown while Walker Hawkins Gawn Ellis still playing at a high standard.
Cotch and Riewodlt at least they know they are cooked, whats with Grimes asking to play on. Let him play on with Mt Macedon 3rds

Stupid question: why hasn't he played anywhere near that game all season? Why couldn't he replicate close to that form if he demonstrated he is capable?

Hopper came back from injury and that pushed Cotch out of the amount of mid rotation he was getting.

Cotch doesn't have any pace anymore and doesn't kick the ball well enough to be involved in the outside game. We are essentially play an extra inside mid and paying for it on transition.

Personally I see Jack and Cotch very differently.

Jack is trying hard and playing a role that he isn't ideally suited for anymore, but structurally we need him in that role. We don't need Cotch in the role he is playing structurally anymore. I would hazard a guess that his inclusion right now is more of a hindrance than a benefit and that feels really *smile* to say.

Me too. Cotch is now surplus to needs. Jack is not, but is also cooked but our best option and sadly may even be our best option next year if we fail to recruit any KPF/Lynch + Gibcus remains injured.

Yeah tend to agree. Cotch will retire and Jack will technically retire, but we probably won't actually delist him until after the trade period and we will make a call then depending on how the trade period goes whether to offer him another year.

You say this but I dug a bit deeper. Irony is that the two best games Cotch has had this season were the wins against Freo & St Kilda where he spent more time in the guts. These were the games Hopper was out with a calf injury..Cotch seems to play better when asked to do more heavy lifting. No surprises there.
It is however unsustainable. Hopefully he finishes up strongly.

Yeah I mentioned that in another post. He was playing really well when given midfield time, his strengths are still his attack on the footy, but with Hopper coming back in it has unbalanced us again and pushed Cotch to a more outside role which is not his strength. He's neither quick or a great kick of the footy and therefore doesn't get involved so much. The role he is playing isn't his best role and its probably a role that someone else can play better. If he's in the guts he still performs well, but he's been pushed out of there.

Ziebel has nominated that as his farewell game. They never miss us #lolnorf. Bet they’ll win it.
Time to double down on the bastards. Jaaack n Cotchinator can both announce their retirement farewells for the #Lolnorf game and we'll obliterate them.

We're on the same page. Cotch or Cumberland forward? I'm taking Cumberland every time. It was a dumb decision at the start of the year & still is.

Totally agree, Cumberland needs to come in. Its a perfect opportunity to "drop" Cotch without using the dropped tag. He can easily be "rested" off a 5 day break. Saves face if thats what the club wants but it needs to happen. If all Cotch is getting are 9 possessions on the outside, then I'd rather get 9 touches by Cumberland in a similar role who can deliver the ball better by foot and can hit the scoreboard.

He's also faster, a decade younger & deserves snr opportunities to improve.

He’s mostly just jogging around.
It’s costing the team.
A bit self indulgent imo.
I don’t understand the view that Cotch and Jack get to decide.
The club is bigger than the individual.
It's simply that you don't ever shoot Bambi, even if you're really really hungry.

Easiest way to destroy the fabric and integrity of a club for a generation or more is to start pissing on or chopping down your idols.

Blokes like Cotch, Jaaack, Shedda, Bash, Dusty etc etc need to be given a little bit more lee way than your average Fred, George or Harry that plays at your club for a few years.
Pushing your core fabric players out of the door just so you can suddenly start to rebuild something is fraught with disaster. We did it years ago n took nearly forty years to get things rebuilt.
#Lolnorf pushed out their core seniors a few years ago n so did Hawforn. #Lolnorf are still in the process of begging H.Q. for more help while Hawforn are a wait n see at the moment.

Agree with almost everything you say Posh, and the Hopper midfield time is a great pickup.

Funny thing is, Chimp was still playing better there than Hopper is in there since he came back.

One thing cannot agree at all though. Chimp not a great kick? He's one of the best field kicks we've had. And while he's lost some depth still one of our best now. Magical.

He is a *smile* set shot. But magical by foot in the field of play. And that’s left or right.
