Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Thinking back to when he was given the Captaincy at 22. While most would be overawed with that, especially at a young age, Chimp had the strength of character and conviction to break the Captain's #17 Jumper. No real surprise he achieved what he did.

I liked the story he told about when he was made captain and said to Chris Newman that it was a great honour. To which Newman replied “No. it’s a great responsibility.”

Newman instigated the Richmond Man concept, is serving a great apprenticeship, has leadership written all over him and will make a tremendous senior coach one day. He doesn’t have the profile of some of the others but is building a strong body of work that will hold him in good stead.

Trent has always shown caring leadership which is why the team would follow anywhere but for me, as a mere supporter, the thing will always remember about him was his celebration when he kicked that goal late on in the 2019 GF. It said everything

I wish there was more acknowledgment of his Brownlow win by media and other fans. It’s very rarely referenced and he was more than deserving of that medal.

Trent can proudly stand along side lauded premiership captains Voss and Hodge as the greatest captains this century, and in fact, the history of the game.

I'm disappointed, but not surprised by the lack of respect shown by the print media to Trent on his upcoming 300th game. Unless I've missed them, I can't find a single article in the papers about Trent's glittering career.

Thanks for everything Trent, without your leadership, I doubt the RFC could've climbed the mountain 3 times:cupgold:cupgold:cupgold

Still nothing on the AFL website. Not a mention ! If it was Bud or Duckwood it's a week long celebration plastered all over the site with multiple articles, yet here we are on Thursday and nada. They really are wap.

There is an article there. It's just not front and centre for easy access and you have to go searching for it!! It is under AFL noticeboard - almost at the bottom of the page.

Thanks mate. It's actually a nice article. Just a shame it's not front and centre as you said. It shouldn't be as hard to find. I'm no conspiracy theorist but something seems off between Richmond and the AFL these days.

Interesting. Trent is 102 on the list of all AFL games played. Riewoldt is 28. So there is a big retirement rate early 300s

Edit just checked. If he plays most games for the rest of the year he will go to top 75. There are 11 on 300 exactly including Francis Bourke and Kane Cornes
