Trent Cotchin (Merged)

The last match showed he still has it when in the midfield guts of the game so any thoughts of a premature retirement would be wide of the mark
I’ve been calling for him to go back to the midfield for weeks. Maybe not full time but still has a role to play there

Just watched him on 360 with Jack.

FMD it had me tearing up like a baby. Two amazing players and people.

But what Trent has given us in terms of leadership and performance can't be matched. Immense person who I will miss but will remember so fondly.

At home with the Cotchin's, a fantastic video.

2016 pre-season, Chimp and players all spoke about our failures, all open and honest. he teared and they teared. That's how you build success. Legend.

Spoke with great words on AFL360 tonight.....with Jack beside.

Wish I could be there.

We bag Basil Zempilas and he mostly deserves it, but his call of Trent in the 2017 prelim was great. The whole game he sang his praises, topped by 'the toughest Tiger of them all' line.

I was part of that spontaneous standing ovation as he sprinted to the bench. One of my best moments at the footy.

I have changed my tune of the Cotch.

Early in the season I was questioning why he was getting a game before the kids, but was happy for him to get to 300 in a respectful way but now I am more than happy that he plays out the season

why?

* Like most older players it takes half a season to get going - Cotch is now up and going and still has it

* He is a midfielder and the experiment of playing him as a small forward had mixed results

* The key reason, and the most saddest reason, is the younger players haven’t come on this year as expected - Sonsie in particular but also Dow perhaps.

Never ever tight of a champion.

People forget that Trent's first two finals in 2017 were as good or better than the bloke having The Greatest Season Ever. In the grand final Adelaide chose to tag two players: Alex Rance and Trent Cotchin.

I opined to Andrew Swallow recently that Trent was the most underrated, underappreciated champion in the game, and doesn't get the kudos he deserves. He couldn't agree quickly enough. The players always know. Even Kornes knows, that's why he's so jealous and vindictive.

With Cotch being on Jacks show last night and to me the clarity of when ‘retirement’ taps them on the shoulder…. Do people think if we ‘lose’ Saturday night will both boys be chaired off together?

Or win/lose they continue to seasons end whenever that may be?

Our last game is against PA at Adelaide Oval.

Our second last game is against North Melbourne at the G.

I guess it depends how the year and if ‘finals’ are a possibility?

The players may do a ‘Hardwick” and not look for ‘fanfare’ type celebrations.

They are both worthy of so much.

Cotchin changed the club and under his Captaincy and ‘follow me approach” turned a ‘finals failure’ and ‘37 year Premiership drought to a POWERHOUSE.

I’m going Saturday night for more than his 300 game milestone but for ……
