Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Yeah - even playing him as the sub puts us at a disadvantage as if a hard running player gets subbed out we have nothing.

I guess given the train wreck of the season so far maybe it doesn't matter, but it's not a good look for him at the end of his career. He won't be remembered for this, but it's pretty sad to watch.

Who’s the kid? Whose spot is he taking? Honestly, shielding this mythical kid from the sort of performances we’re putting out there is doing them a favour. Milestones like Cotchin’s are all we’re going to have for a while.
Alright- Cotchin played a lot of wing so Sam Banks for one, playing forward Steely Green for two and the much and unfairly maligned Thomson Dow who wouId really benefit from exposure to senior footy. I know two of these players are not necessarily ready and we are injury ravaged but he is taking a spot and I for one think it is greatly diminishing his legacy as a leader. I don’t respect it.

we owe him to get to 300. Playing the sub is no disgrace on him. in ten years time and beyond, Trent will be a 300 game player, who captained the side to 3 premierships.
who had a massive impact on and off the field. play him sub and occasionally a game off.
Sorry I can’t understand this owing logic. He has been loved, respected and paid shitloads of money for his talents.

Cotchy should be thrown on the scrapheap but Dow is unfairly maligned? Says a lot.

We just need to get him to 300 and exit him like the killer champion capt he was for us, painful to watch but we simply dont have the quality cattle around him to compensate his output.

Says that when you are no longer capable of playing the game at the highest level you show the integrity to stop taking a spot. Says that milestones are only important when you reach them in the right way. There’s no scrap heap waiting for Trent. Your language suggests I want him thrown out the door into homelessness. It’s rubbish. And yes, Dow’s form has been good this year. Him and other younger players have not been given a consistent opportunity in the seniors. His pre season form warranted a chance.

Tell me snake, why does it have to reflect badly on my character that I think he should retire?

where do I mention character?. I just disagree with you.

Champion or not it is a selfish call to want to reach a personal milestone that is detrimental to the club. Same as Sheds last year. We dont owe any player anything. They are paid very handsomely for their efforts. They are not doing all this for free ffs.
So we got Edwards to 300 and he jumps ship and joins Crows recruitment team. I know he was offered a role with the Tiges but chose the Crows instead.
Club WILL always be bigger than any individual.

It's a very emotional topic the chimp. He's a legend of the club. But no player is larger than the club. None.

Toughest tiger I've ever seen. But I hate watching him struggle. There isn't much dignity watching him battle as he is.

But, if he wants the 300 game landmark he gets it. There's no tarnishing of his CV. Not one bit. It's just not much fun listening to his critics feel justified in potting his game now.

Owe him what ? Further embarrassment ? Seriously . Needs to be a very hard and honest conversation this week between Club and player .

Give Chimp his 300 and a couple more after that. He deserves to be a Brownlow Medal winning, 300 game, triple premiership winning Captain for the Richmond Football Club. Not sure there is a higher honor in the AFL. He's also the owner of one of the best PRE nicknames in PRE history.

Get him to 300

What difference does it make

Dimma appears to be ruling a banana republic anyway

don't want to become like hawthorn, no soul. it's a family, community, australian wide sport, needs soul. that's bring us together. Long suffering, win the premiership, seeing family and Richmond friends coming together. Yes it's a business but needs more. "sorry its business" how many times have you heard this, only to see the worst outcome. I'm saying that Trent to play all games ( a mixture of sub and missed games may be the solution)
Come on! yes disappointed yesterday. lost by 4 goals. Gave away 4 goals away in our backline. Let's get this right first up, then talk.

And furthermore 6 kicks 5 handballs against lowly Gold Coast doesn’t get anyone a game the following week I am afraid
I dont necessarily disagree with you, but are Miller, Jack, Cumberland and Sonsie dropped as well? (Ill give Clarke a pass as sub).
Do we have 5 to bring in?

Cotch's first 3 game were ok- not great, but not carrying him to 300 games. He was ordinary coming on a sub against the Dogs, i wouldnt remember he played against the Swans except for the media beat up when he was subbed off, he started well against the Dees but faded and was pretty ineffectual against the Suns.

He may as well play against the WEagles, and go from there.
