Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Is 300 games worth it? Cotch is now the shell of the player he was and seems to have gone on one season too many. A bit like Shane Edwards last season.

I hope he can wind back the clock a bit and have a very good game.
It might shush the naysayers, including myself for a while.
Hour Glass is completely empty I am afraid
Needs to put his hand up and announce his retirement
Pointless carrying him
It’s hard to watch as well

To be honest, the club stuffed up last year with Edwards. It can't change course now, we kept Cotchin on.

Get him to 300, then time to retire. We're in no man's land now. Playing him to get there, but then stopping short. That's just lose lose.

The season is already a crap shoot. Might as well give him the milestone.

Looking like one season too long though. Some fairy tales are for the opposition. He was a passenger today.

Been a passenger most games this year.
We've given up a potential roster spot, and an opportunity for someone to be developed at AFL level for 7 games. What's 5 or 6 more?

I think we know he isn’t a hff. I think he can only play 8 minute bursts on ball. Nowhere else
He deserves his 300th game, after that we need to develop younger quicker players.

By the look on his face he knows he can’t compete. He deserves 300 games but to think that professional football coaches thought they could turn him into a forward is a massive indictment on them. The truth is they are trying to find a spot where the least amount of damage can be done on him.

We walked Edwards to 300 games and we’re doing same to Cotch
Thats ok if we’ve got no interest in playing finals We can’t afford to carry players
IMO all players should earn their spots there should be no gifting of games

This is the same Cotchin that at 24 said if he snagged a premiership he might walk away from the game at 28.
Gone from potentially walking away prematurely to hanging on too long.
The club is bigger than the individual and if finals are out of the question, I don’t think Richmond need to indulge his 300 if he is no longer able to contribute.
All this does is prevent a kid getting some valuable experience this year.

Players always say that when they are in their early 20s but it rarely happens.

If they wanted to gift games to players to reach milestones then make it a development year and dont give away 2 years worth of first rounders so you can limit the damage each week. Unfortunately all Taranto and Hopper have allowed this year is the scores to remain respectable.
Would have been happier to have a few first rounders and start again

With finals off the cards it's time to pull the pin.
Forever a tiger immortal.

Who’s the kid? Whose spot is he taking? Honestly, shielding this mythical kid from the sort of performances we’re putting out there is doing them a favour. Milestones like Cotchin’s are all we’re going to have for a while.

Hmm - 11 disposals and 3 or 4 tackles, no score

He has the longest 6 games of his career coming up, it’s hard to watch.

I remember Wayne Campbell pulled the pin at 297 games I think from memory………..
