Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Make him a permanent sub unto he gets to 300 and then he can pull the pin or play vfl.

Gives me no joy but he is finished as an AFL player

We walked Edwards to 300 games and we’re doing same to Cotch
Thats ok if we’ve got no interest in playing finals We can’t afford to carry players
IMO all players should earn their spots there should be no gifting of games
It's a big question mark for me. We're clearly nursing him to 300. If he's not good enough, and being gifted games, what examples does it set for the rest of the club.
I don't think it is good for our culture. It could be starting the rot internally, if there is discontentment.

Said this to my daughter at the game today.

Cotchin has no forward instinct, there were a number of times where we led the wrong way today.
In the 1st half he was rotating the wing with Sonsie and Ellis ripped them both a new one.

For Cotch is middle or bust. He's the perfect sub in my eyes, he can come on, and smash the crap out of the midfield for a quarter, leave his entire game on the park in that quarter. Thats where we will see the best of him. It hurts watching him now, and its hard watching him being pushed to play positions that he can't.

Nobody's beating down the door to take his spot. If we're actually trying to win games, I'll take Trent's heart and smarts any day. Decent game last week. Poor game this week. Hopefully good game next week.

I just hope his legacy isn’t tarnished with this last year. I hate for him to be remembered as “he went on one year too long”

It looks like he can't play two in a row. Not even as sub. He'll go out next week for Prestia. Rinse and repeat. But he's no worse than Sons, Hugo or Clarke ATM. Change mid only.

Start of the last qtr his hair was exactly like the start of the game.
He knows he is at the end. His heart is big but his body is finished

It’s important from a club respect perspective to get him to 300. He was poor yesterday but he’s No forward and never has been.

As others have said, play him as a sub to come into the midfield as needed. Didn’t attend one centre bounce yesterday that I can remember. At least if he’s going to bow out, play him in his rightful position.

I personally think he could sit in the centre square in an iron lung, if that was his desire,

And the example it sets,

Is you get Dignity and Respect at Richmond

Like Oleg said on the weekend,

You can trust Richmond

Yes, Cotchys last dozen games wont be celebrated like his first 288,

But who *smile* cares?

The greatest captain of all time.

My captain

Interesting discussion re the 300 games situation . When you are cooked , you’re cooked . Unfortunately our Brownlow Medalist 3 Time Premiership Captain is well and truely cooked . Is it about the Club or the individual now ?
Dave Astbury knew . Shaun Grigg knew , Jason Castagna knew . Time is up for Trent .retire with dignity . Send off game this weekend perhaps , as the alternative to limping to 300 as the sub isn’t a good look .

And furthermore 6 kicks 5 handballs against lowly Gold Coast doesn’t get anyone a game the following week I am afraid

we owe him to get to 300. Playing the sub is no disgrace on him. in ten years time and beyond, Trent will be a 300 game player, who captained the side to 3 premierships.
who had a massive impact on and off the field. play him sub and occasionally a game off.
