Yeah, Conca and Stengle left, not sure we fought too hard for either. Actually Chol too.You forgot the Concanater ….
Over the same period we have lost Victorians Lids, BEllis, Butler, Higgins, Dusty and CCJ to other clubs.

I guess it depends if we think they are the next best on our board. This is the thing, with such an even draft between 10-25, there will be so many different versions of the same board of players, that different teams will rank players above others. Could be a scenario where we might have Berry, or Hotton or Reid next in line but Port have Travaglia and West Coast have Allan. Similar scenario to last year with McAuliffe, we had him next and wanted him, we didn't think Freo and West Coast were after him, so we banked a couple of extra picks by trading back. There will be times where we can do that this year too.

Maybe we can use 6 to get 2 and get st kilda’s 7 by splitting it smoking? If we are getting pick 2 we need to keep pick 6. I am ok with trading pick 10 or 11. But not 6. It’s at the sweet spot of the draft.
That works Sin. Just need to make sure we have 3 picks in the top 10.Maybe we can use 6 to get 2 and get st kilda’s 7 by splitting it smoking?
If the reputed deal with north inclusive of their F1 is true then the need to trade into 2025 is alleviated by getting another F1.
7 is as good as 6 to us because if north have it we know who they are going to pick.
6,10,11 and say 20 for 2,7 and north’s F1

Rhymes nicely - should be a chant for every time he stuffs up, the footy equivalent of "He's from Barcelona" if you will.CCJ is from SA.
Agree.Thats exactly what we need to do IMO.
6 and 11 for 2 and Norths F1
10 and 20 for Saints 7.
Go to the draft with 1,2,7,18,23 and 24. We can either slide with the later ones, or take those picks there.
3 top 10 picks this year. 2 more next year.
Take 6 in the ND, 1 in the RD and leave 1 spot to test players out in the SSP.
Stengle was on minimum rookie money maybe around 100,000 if lucky Adelaide offered just over 300,000 x 3 years,he was a certainty to make the grade but tigers had a full tight cap,so couldn't competeIf he went home, he counts.
I’m not sure how much we offered him, but we traded him for p68 so I wouldn’t think he was considered too high a priority to keep.
It doesn’t matter what was offered, or the reasons. It was a factor. Go home, better contract, live with Eddie Betts. It was attractive to head home for him. I doubt he was interested in going anywhere else.
I do understand the go home factor, and have been surprised that up until now, we haven’t had too many wanting to go.
Jack Graham a couple of years ago dipped his toe in the water until port stiffed him. But seeing he’s headed west, I don’t believe the ggf was a priority. With quite a few WA’s on the list I thought one or two might have been tempted to go. Or does that make it easier to stay. Hard to say. Family always has a big pull.
I posted a variation of this last week to include the rumoured North offer of including their F1This may do it
Rich give Pick 10 for Port 13+29
Saints give Pick 7 for 11+20
Nth give Pick 2 for 7+18
Saints end up with 8+11+20
Nth 7+18
Rich with 1+2+6+13+23+24+29, give 10+11+18+20 for 2+13+29
Sorry but that would be an awful mistake. This may do it

Can’t see the saints doing that Sting for the same reason we don’t want to trade out #6. Picks #7 and #8 together is really powerful, just like having #10 and #11 together in terms of getting the right mix of players.
Has there been any discussion of trading our #1 for Melbs #5 and #9, which for us would only work if we traded in #2 for say #10 and #11.
1, 6, 10 and 11 become
2, 5, 6 and 9.
If we can’t get 3 picks within the first 6, then I reckon we stay put. The cost of having #1 and #2 is too much compared to staying put with #1 and #6 and keeping our later picks.
This. Been a lot of impressive Indian Rubber Man contortions and Magic puddings, but 6 will have to be part of a deal for 2.
