Trade talk 2019/20

What’s the bet he asks for a trade the following year.
Has openly said he wanted to :

1. play for a big melb club
2. Be in the premiership window
3. Play in front of big crowds
4. Play at the MCG

Dunkley vs Treloar

If Dunkley leaves then Treloar possibly but will he commit for 5 years at the Dogs?

Pies are not prepared to pay much of his salary & for the 5 years.

Wonder if any other club will come into play?
He isnt worth currently more then 500k.
Constantly misses large chucks on seasons due hamstrings.
He has lost that break out speed he once had, but still makes huge errors by foot. Poor decision maker.
Very similiar to Dylan Shield.
They get it ok, but clueless when they have it.
Cant believe Collingwood will be saved by a stupid club like Footscary. Its crazy
4.5 mill over 5 year's
His body is gone now at 28, imagine it in 3 yrs time

Higgins' trade market value according to SOS & Rendell. Silvagni: Pick 20, Rendell: Pick 25. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2020/11/09/silvagni-and-rendell-put-a-draft-value-on-13-trade-targets

SOs seriously who made him a list expert?
He had 300 draft picks and have a look at the state GWS is in.
How many failed top 10 picks?
If we are fair dickum. I wouldn't give away anything under 30 for Higgins.
But saying that i wouldn't give away 2 first rounders for Dunkley The 5th midfielder at Footscary.
I wouldn't give anything under 30 for Anastasia.
Caldwell late 2nd or 3rd.
Hately, the same.
TAB pick between 25-35
Cameron 2 first rounders

I dont think that is right. Markov is leaving because he has a better offer. I am pretty confident we would have re-contracted him if we could, but he has made the decision to leave.
Markov leaves an environment he loves for two years because he cant see himself being a regular in that time.
In two years when out of contract he may come back to Richmond.

Why would you take Treloar on such a high salary? I don't get it, he is being paid overs because he was paid less over the last couple of years. You don't take on another clubs problem. Maybe they negotiated his salary down.

DS

I hope they didn’t negotiate the salary down coz that would let Cwood off the hook
Obviously his actual annual value to WB is much less than $900k - say $600k
But Treloar is entitled to the full amount - for 5 years - and Cwood must be held liable to ensure all of that
If WB pay $600k and Cwood $300k - fair enough
But if WB pay $600k and Cwood say $100k then Treloar is a pathetic loser and Cwood is left laughing
And I don’t like seeing Collingwood laughing

Fantastic to see Giants making it tough - and fair - that the Cats cough up for Cameron.

The Cats thought they deserved everything they negotiated for Kelly yet trying to pay unders for Cameron.

This, together with what the Bombers do, is the main event today and tomorrow I reckon.

yeah, the media reports seem to suggest the pies will get a 1st rd pick and will pay $100k or $200k for a year or 2.

cant see it. the dogs should give their 1st rd this year for Treloar and the Pies 1st pick next year.
and the pies should pay anything over maybe $700k for the life of his contract.
If the pies dont agree he can stay.

I agree that Higgins is around a pick 20. He's got the talent for a late first round, but has the lingering medical risk to push him back slightly to early second.

The problem is St Kilda will likely get better, not worse. So we aren't getting an early second round pick from them if we take a future pick.

Buckenara obviously trying to sabotage our three-peat!
He's also come out today and said the Eagles are a shoo-in for the 2021 premiership. Couldn't do the job this year with an extended run of home games, battle to win away. Bizarre.

Higgins, if he goes, will be a bit of a loss, but he is competing against the likes of RIoli, Castagna, Aarts, Lambert and Bolton.

Markov is choosing to leave.
We could sack Houli, who is clearly still in our best 22, and weaken our team- reducing our chances of winning 4 in a row, and probably kept Markov.
I dont think there was really any choice to make there though.

Higgins, if he goes, will be a bit of a loss, but he is competing against the likes of RIoli, Castagna, Aarts, Lambert and Bolton. I think he should back himself to be good enough to play, but i can understand why an AFL player will chase a longer contract, and more playing time. Another year out of our team could end his career, where as 3 years at the Saints should set him up.

Brodders, its not about the players or the Captain Obvious permutations its about keeping the oldies and sending off the youngins. The worrying trend that has seen past dynasties turn into Geriactic Villages and at this point there is no backing away from the fact we have just seen 2 young promising players walk and at the same time re-sign some older players.

I completely understand its a given with dynasties and I wish Markov and Higgo well and hope they achieve all they want in their careers, good luck to them. Bye Bye. Ce La Vie. Adios. I accept that and I'm done there

If you want engage in the reasoning side of why and how, that's a separate argument.

For instance with Markov. By all accounts he was playing his role well but was simply a victim of circumstance, that being the incumbents return. So the decision is made and in comes the past and out goes the future. Considering Houli had a relatively ineffective GF due to the early calf injury one could argue that had Markov been playing and even if he played an equally ineffective GF he would now be a premiership player and lauded as the next Houli. Totally hocus pocus ifs and maybes but that is how close we could of been securing that position going forward instead we now need to invest time in another candidate but is that going to happen now we have Houli's signature? This is the trend I am hoping won't prevail.

There's no doubting that we are now the superior leaders in so many facets of the AFL, even dare I say it "Pioneers" and "Torch Bearers" [settle down blx] and I can see I was a little over-excited in the prospect of bucking the trend with list rejuvenation too.

Time will tell and I'm confident in Blair... maybe I worry too much :p

Bizzare indeeed. Gotta love this time of year.

I said before finals that I hope we go back to Port and beat them on their own dunghill.

WCE couldnt even beat a weakened and well travelled Pies, what makes anyone think they have any chance against a well drilled away team that has a good record in Perth!

Tell em' they're dreamin'.

Biggest con job.
Pick 8 for Sad.
Shut the joint down.
Carlton are giving away first rounders like they're lollies.
They lost another first rounder last year to pick up the kid before Collier Dawkins.
He went home half way through the season.

Bizarre why the Saad deal took so long. All the picks used were with both clubs (ie. no secondary trading) and looks relatively fair for both sides. Seemed like such a obvious trade but then you have the Dodo effect.
