Trade talk 2019/20

You reckon ive lost my mind.
Lonie is delist material, how the *smile* do you accept the dogs to use pick 14 on lonie.
He was dropped twice this year.
He is the most selfish footballer in the comp.
At best a 3rd rounder would get lonie.
Pick 14 :rotfl1

What do you not get about the word INVOLVED. The Dogs don't want Pick 14, they want to maximise points value, the whole deal was the Dogs get Picks 21, 35 and Lonie and give up 14 and a 2nd next year, but OK I'm saying Lonie is worth Pick 14, whatever you want to think.

Lets just trade for duds like Dunstan and Polec right that don't suit our style of play.

Anderson is an ok midfielder, worth 2 2nds in next years strong draft, you are now living in crazytown.

Lonie pick 14 more like 414

I'm confident the club has got Markov and Higgins loss covered. Plenty of exciting players coming up. Markov has had a load of games to cement a spot. Neither are best 22 now.

We have covered players like Lids and Rancey leaving.

Never missed Lloyd, Conca, Butler or Ellis. Cant keep em all and players like this are role players who struggle to cement a spot in the best 22. All reasonable players when surrounded by our stars and system, none have tools that are hard to find.

Lost the plot there zippers. Polec is the antithesis to a Richmond winger. Polec b flashy n pacy but only works one way, when he's got to work back he does so at shufflin Joe's pace. Even #lolnorf dropped him a couple of times this year 'coz he wouldn't do any defensive work.
One of those games though he did get 4 coaches & Brownlow votes, obviously the opposition coach gave him the votes, couldn't have been to bad of a game. He was then dropped after that game.

Agree

Markov leaving means the next best Houli replacement is gone, will be missed

We have a Chorus Line of players champing at the but for that position.

There's even rumours of sending Rioli into the backline next year???

Markov will turn 25 early next season. And there is no pattern, all teams lose players either for money and for opportunity. We have numerous players who would think they would be playing each week at another team, but look like losing just 1 24yo, a HBF. Following on from just losing Butler and Ellis last year and Conca the year before.
Considering our depth our player retention has been and continues to be fantastic.

I get it is tricky balancing between keeping older players and allowing younger ones to play, but come the GF next year I know who I would prefer lining up on the HBF out of Houli and Markov, and if we had any choice, that was it.

Yes, it's a tricky balance.

Once again I'm not questioning player abilities both Broad and Houli (33 next year) are proven.

My query is trending the now vs the future and the re-signing of these 2 players while losing an improving Markov and now a young Higgins indicates a dangerous fork in the road.

He was never staying in ahead of Edwards or Prestia.

Still has a few flaws in his footy that are glossed over by his personality and a couple of freak goals.

Said it on another thread I'm not fussed if he goes and I'm not fussed if he stays.

If he does go we must get proper transaction for him.

Will also give the club a little bit of salary cap relief for a bigger off season next year to go with the retirees wages coming off the books.
So he is a flawed player but we need to get proper transaction for him.

Which one is it???

Anderson is a bull in the middle.
He is exactly what we need.
Tackles and hurts the opppstion.
I would give 2nd rounders for him because we will most likely use them on duds any way...

Lonie pick 14 more like 414

Can you not do maths? It wouldn't have been 14 for Lonie. It was 14 and a 2021 2nd for Lonie which gets the Dogs 300 more points for JUH and then gets Lonie for the 2nd next year essentially less the 300 point upgrade in 2020 so would value him around Pick 50 in a shallow draft which is about right. Trading with the dogs we can do based on maths as they need more points to bid on JUH in case a bid comes at 2 (there won't be a bid at 1).

I may have started that rumour? I asked somewhere if he would be an option. Havent seen it anywhere else.

Markov is choosing to leave.
We could sack Houli, who is clearly still in our best 22, and weaken our team- reducing our chances of winning 4 in a row, and probably kept Markov.
I dont think there was really any choice to make there though.

Higgins, if he goes, will be a bit of a loss, but he is competing against the likes of RIoli, Castagna, Aarts, Lambert and Bolton. I think he should back himself to be good enough to play, but i can understand why an AFL player will chase a longer contract, and more playing time. Another year out of our team could end his career, where as 3 years at the Saints should set him up.

I am sick of seeing us keeping Markov compared against keeping Naish and Stack by posters on here. How many times do people on here need to say that those two were contracted for 2021.

Oleg was a victim of reducing list sizes, bad timing with being out of contract (he was probably lucky to have had a contract for this year given he would have been on most people's delisting lists coming into this season), and us having won 3 out of 4 premierships.

Realistically it was between Oleg, Houli and Broad.

This, this is exactly what I would have thought. Don't forget, he had a very, very severe injury and the club stood by him. I'm a bit disappointed 12 months on, he's decided he doesn't want to wait with us. We could have delisted him and drafted him as a rookie, or just moved him on altogether given how serious things were.

I see Higgins future as a mid-forward who is an accumulator. I think he's too slow for our style of play. Maybe he knows this too.
I think he'll eventually get his way into the midfield, but I don't see a side winning a premiership with him starting in the middle of the field.

Correct Rancey.

Garthy is the other one. Surprised he is still on list as it stands TBH.

Yep agreed. Reckon 1 of Garth and Miller stays. At this stage Miller is the one who has been touted a bit higher by the club this year so I expect Garth to be culled too, but it does depend on list sizes. Saw something today that stated max main list of 38 but max list size of 44 (including Cat B's) but essentially thats the same as this year other than including Cat B's in the list size. Sounds like thats the AFLPA's position and not the AFL's.
