Trade talk 2019/20

I think to many people getting caught up about Markov 6 games this year.I see more upside in
DES just needs to get better defence wise.

Might be a left field thought but maybe RCD could end up as a HBF?

We really need to get an under 25 year old forward to replace JR while Jack is still playing .. either though the draft or trade .. As Jack can mentor in 2021 like Richo mentored Jack ..

Egg is a very good kick, just needs to be tougher at the contest and a better defender.
Definite potential.

Sure in the short term but who would have thought even 18 months ago how Short and Baker would have come on? All of Short, Baker and Houli came into the system as midfielders or forwards and I would assume that the club will be developing others for that spot.
We can't keep them all unfortunately

no doubt, and I am not saying Blair will not resolve this, all I am saying is that the logical replacement for Houli has gone.

Exactly. I've heard that many times that we have lost our Houli replacement. How long has he been at the club ? In that time Short & Baker have over taken him already. Yes he had some pace & he looked alright in his 6 games this year, but prior to that looked a list clogger.

Brodders, the point about losing Markov isn't about whether we are able to cover him or not, its the prospect of falling into the pattern of losing young developing players while keeping the ageing ones. Not just this year but in the following years too.

The saving grace is that I trust Blair and his men to be on top of it anyway.
Markov will turn 25 early next season. And there is no pattern, all teams lose players either for money and for opportunity. We have numerous players who would think they would be playing each week at another team, but look like losing just 1 24yo, a HBF. Following on from just losing Butler and Ellis last year and Conca the year before.
Considering our depth our player retention has been and continues to be fantastic.

I get it is tricky balancing between keeping older players and allowing younger ones to play, but come the GF next year I know who I would prefer lining up on the HBF out of Houli and Markov, and if we had any choice, that was it.

How good is it not to be spending trade week worrying about who we can recruit to plug a glaring hole in our list?

Fretting about losing Markov is a first-world triple-premiership problem.

What a waste of time, most of these clubs have had over a month to work out deals and now with 3 days to go, dodododo once again is holding other clubs up.
If the AFL dosent introduce a mediator to sort the trades out. This is going to become a week of constant delays and speculation.
Trade week was once exciting and a week of dreams. Now it's who can back door the other.

The Bombers should be banned from trading all together until the last 24 hours. As they only deal in that window and they slow everything down.

Dud-Doro is a flog of the highest order. Creepy prick too. I saw him a few years back being a complete tool in a Sydney bar when Essendon were up there to play GWS.

Exactly. Should go from Monday to a Friday at the maximum. More than enough time to sort this stuff out.

Surprised Dodoro was given the ass following the internal review.

What club in their right mind would want to deal with Essendon. They overrate their own and underrate players form 17 opposition clubs on a regular basis.

Seriously requesting a 1st round pick for Fantasia that is ludicrous. All he's worth is some baby oil, baby talc powder, some bandages and a tiara for the princess.

Wouldn't give that much for him

Essendon holding up alot of trades it seems. Saad and Fantasia not worth first rounders. strange that dunkley leaving the dogs for culture issues and choosing to go to essendon.

Saints have offered a future 2nd rounder for Higgo. We've told them to get nicked. I reckon we'll do a swap. Their 2021 1st rounder for Higgo and the GC 2021 3rd rounder we got for Markov.

"Culture" is the excuse given by players that are moving for money.
