Thoroughbred racing

Good work, mk. BTW you can contact Trevor Bailey and ask him. He'll know who it was either way. 0419 762 677 or on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/trevorbaileyracingstables

On the punt. I've had a little of the 25/1 (Bet365) about Plot the Course in R6 Bendigo Wednesday. He does go first up, is 2-2 at the track, goes in the wet and is classes better than most of his rivals. NB at his most recent run he bled from one nostril, and was a good run unsuited. Spelled. He won a trial a week ago. Pay Up Bro and Recalculate are the dangers, as I see it. The wet track is the clincher for Plot the Course. Well suited. I'd like to see some money for him but if he gets the blows I'll be chasing him all the way out on the 'Fair.

Race 4 - Golden Gee wants it wet. Overs at 20/1. S King will take that. I'm on.

Race 8 - Good Offa is suited in the class. 14/1 is overs. Goes in the wet. His recent form is so poor it looks contrived. Now a 5yo he should be able to push out to 1100m to win. Has been a bit of a nonnie but well down in class on his best runs. NB very poor rider. Keep an eye on the market.

The Heavy10 at Bendigo is now a Synthetic at Pakenham. Meeting transferred - all bets off.

We were getting the money, brother. PtC must have a wet track. Nommed for Caulfield Saturday - 'it is the stuff of dreams are made of'.

At today it's a Soft6 at Caulfield. Seven furlongs. If we get 10mm tomorrow and 10mm Thursday it will be wet Saturday. Probably not going to happen. Good 5. And Plot the Course racing too high.

*smile* it. It was about Wednesday.

Back to Bendigo <<<--- Pakenham. Golden Gee is now a drum (but wait for her to ease - she will). And Good Offa is a great spec at the big price. Watch betting. And if they ease, wait until late and then go the 'Fair.

I'm backing Octavian Augustus in the last at Randwick tomorrow (today). Got $5.50, it's now $4.40.

A couple of weeks ago I had a nibble at a few futures for the spring:
Rising Romance ($41) Caulfield Cup
Awoke ($34) Thousand Guineas
Evacuation ($17) Caulfield Guineas

Good stuff Dyer'ere, followed you in on Good Offa. Now have some extra to waste on the wet tracks on the weekend!

Shop badly and win, spook! Why did you come up with the 3yos? I've done little 3yo form yet.

The hilarious part is that Steven Arnold took the split, T44. :hihi

Well played old fox.

If Arnold is taking the split I'm in miracle country. Might have to back up on Plot the Course, brother. Doing form now. I've had a nibble at $61/15.

Anaphora is right in the fourth on Saturday. Gypsy is declaring it but I'm worried about it on a slow track. More to come there.

Think you are a bit harsh on S Arnold Dyer'ere, seen plenty worse than him.

For the weekend, I have a very small share in one going around at Morphettville on Saturday, race 4 no 3, Mossbeat. Has only won the one race from 25, is always around the money. Transferred from Robbie Griffiths to David Hayes & Co and doesn't mind a damp track - her only win was on a bog at the 'Bool a few years ago. Has run some good races in Group company but not quite up to that level. This is a Benchmark 75 so a long way down in grade. Worth a dollar or two each way, maybe more the place than the win.

Good punting

I'm a h8tr, T44. I was bagging him all of last year and one of my then colleagues, a former jockey and a mate of his, didn't like it but never said much. One day we were watching a race and we needed Arnold to come through for us. (He'd dropped everything out to last for weeks and was struggling to get rides.)

Bugger me dead Arnold rode through the field and took the gap. As he crossed the line she said "Rode like a man with bills to pay."

The moral of the story is they ride better when they're hungry. Arnold rode Good Offa like a man with bills to pay and I'll be paying a few of me own bills now. ;D

Just on hungry jockeys, I reckon Oliver had a disastrous winter on the punt. ;D Career best form ATM.

Mossbeat is smart IMO, T44. Very smart. $6. Seems generous.

Let's hope Hayes can get the best out of her. He'll definitely place her. If I can find her in the right grade and prepared I'll be having a dip. COuld be Saturday; I haven't finished doing the form on that race. In the Hayes camp she could win two or three on end. She's easily an 85 class mare who's underachieved win wise. Rated 78 ATM. Good luck with her.

$230K prizemoney from a $26K purchase price - You've had some fun with her 44.

Yeah looks one to look out for with a change of scenery and down in grade.

Group and listed placed too, Bryan. Nice mare.

Anyways, punters I've specked Testashadow in the eighth in Sydders Saturday. The Ritchie. Track will be a 4, I reckon. Would've preferred a 5. There is still $34/8.5 at Sportsbet for the interested. He's racing high but he's naturally tough and has the advantage of race-fitness. A child aboard but the instructions will be 'Get up on speed and don't fall off.'

My bet for the weekend is Plot the Course in the ninth at Caulfield. It will be wet. I think that's his caper. The recent trial was very encouraging. (https://www.racing.com/form/2016-09-09/cranbourne-trn-trial/heat/13 That looks like the wrong link but it's not - click the Watch Replay button of you want to see it.)

PtL's prep last spring was encouraging. The form around Berisha is good. They brained third. NB it was a Soft6. Trotter described him at the time as 'a big baby'. He was an immature 4yo. Now 5yo.

His autumn was average. In his third run he bled from one nostril (that's why the trial matters) and was spelled. Despite the bloody nose he was a great run coming from astern off a slow tempo.

I'm prepared to roll the dice on the no named rider thing. If he goes through the wet, as I expect, it won't really matter and I'm half expecting a rider I like anyway. I'll cop the price now. The gear change appeals to me too.

I think every race is his mission, although Trotter will have nine furlongs Cup Day as the horse's Grand Final. My sense is that he's forward and ready to run. He usually goes first up.

If it's a full field I'm happy for him to drop out. Caulfield is a tough 1400m with fifteen runners. But if it's very wet I expect the field size to drop away and PtC to race closer. I'm ok with either way.

It's a shallow race. I'm indifferent to Our Rokkii, particularly at 2/1 second up. But he is the testing material and likes the damp. After him there is not a lot of wet track achievement. And horses like Mighty Like who can go through ground are unreliable. Tudor's seven or so for zip at the track. Rough Justice is a big query at the trip and unreliable anyway. Iggamacool is never a banker. The 4yos are obscure but not out of it. I've got pots on nearly all of the other runners. I like the race because I dislike most of the runners.

So I'm drawn to the value. Plot the Course at $51/15 with Bet365.

I'll look at Judges in the first at Caulfield in greater depth and Anaphora is still of interest. Miss Gunpowder is to use the barrier blanket. That can be a big help. And they don't get any slower on the long drive over from Adelaide. If anything it seems to make them go faster. It's quite miraculous.

If Miss Promiscuity gets out I may smash her. (What did I just say?) But track condition, price, barrier, rider are not aligned as it stands. They rarely do with her, albeit in much harder class. What we have is a case of ability with not quite enough circumstantial support to make her the moral she could be.

My thoughts for the weekend punters. Looking forward to your mail.

Stokes pops over to Melbourne to top up his bank account. At least one of his runners will win.

Just like the look of em, old fella.

Had a bit on Awoke tomorrow as well. R4 Randwick, backed it at $15, now $9.

Set Square, R8 Caulfield. Will handle the going and out wide could be the place to be. Had some $10 and might have a bit more.

English, R7 Randwick. Short but very good. Great turn of foot.

Speaking of which, had a nice collect today on Acatour in R3 at Newcastle. Wasn't able to post prior to race. Look out for it coming to Melbs. Has gears.
