That website has had some inaccuries between it and Racing Australia website but I suspect it is Hollinshead and the hose may have being at Frank Hill stable.

Hmmm, would've thought they both got their data from the same place (whatever the Racing Services Bureau is called now - they used to publish the official Australian Race Results each month). Maybe they've taken it upon themselves to tidy up some anomalies.

Maybe, there was just some differences between it, racing Australia, RSN websites and then old newspapers had different answers aswell. Most seem to be correct from 2000.
Its been fun though.

Everyone gets their data electronically now. Used to have almost every edition of Sportsman from 1988-1997 but ended up throwing them out because there wasn't a market for them.

The library is great for that now, it has Sporting Globe and the Truth which has being good (though page 3 girls looks weird on microfilm)

;D

How far back does Sporting Globe go at the library? I'd be interested in reading footy articles by the likes of Hec de Lacy.

Hi there

I am just wondering if anyone knows the following trainers full names please for a horse racing database project I am doing.

T.Bailey who trained Miss Haughty in 1989 Flight Stakes
JR Davis who trained Chamfa in 1985 Moir Stakes (may have being based in Pakenham ot Cranbourne)
AJ Douglas who trained High Equity in 1988 Wakeful and VRC Oaks
DJ Gladman who trained Josrafi in 1984 Queen of the turf
JF Harris who trained Suttle Knight in 1984 Herbert Power (may have being based in Epsom)
JR Higgins who trained Coringle Cottage in 1984 Lightning Stakes
FC Hill who trained Super Taj in 1983 Waterford Crystal Mile (based at Caulfield)
FD Hill who trained Crown Jet in 1985 Norman Robinson and
Na Botto in 1990 Sandown Cup and 1991 Herbert Power (may have being based at Epsom)
C Murdoch in 1972 Caulfield cup trained Ahjay
JF O' Reilly who trained Fair Warning in 1976 Melbourne Cup
AG Porter who trained Stargwyni in 1984 AJC Oaks
AT Rae who trained Lenka's Choice in 1986 Australia Guineas
MJ Robins who trained Celestial Motion in 1985 Caulfield Guineas (maybe for sale)

Jockey E Carter who rode Windy Minx in 1986 underwood stakes (I believe from Albury)

I have contacted various racing clubs and looked up trove etc and at state library and found plenty of answers but these ones have alluded me. Any help would be greatly appreciated

G'Day bud, have you tried the book "Millers Guide", I'm pretty sure that will help you out. It has been a yearly publication that has ceased as of 2015/16.
Any decent pub always had a copy behind the bar to solve arguments.

Miller's Guide lists the connections at the time of publication, i.e. soon after the Cups weights are released. The problem with e.g. Na Botto is that different trainers were shown in various publications during the same preparation, e.g. Melbourne Cup & Sandown Cup.

Not sure it lists the trainers' full names, though?

I have put Frank for Crown Jet

Trove had Hollinshead for 1990 Melbourne Cup but then Hill for races after, so unsure how that works. I do see he is owner throughout and other races Richard OTTO had Na Botto but they may have being in partnership in New Zealand.

Thanks for your help though

I'm busy with work so haven't had a chance to have look at it but try this link

Has happened to me with other things.

Dug out the 1990 edition. It has two initials e.g. R A Otto, J F Meagher etc.

Thank for help Millers Guide just lists initials.
Will keep going to state library maybe old electoral rolls may help.

Using the hawks to build a stake tonight to go all-up Yankee Rose to win The Stakes in SydneyTown.

Very stiff last night, Easy. Still 4-1 available about her and has been supported despite Vandyke's ambivalence. Might not have time to do the Sydney quaddie form thoroughly, but I'm a little wary of her first up at the 1400 against the males. If she can win from a sticky draw (more concerned about Purton) in that company she's definitely a force to be reckoned with.

I love this time of the year, it eases the pain that the Tigers inflict on me.

Got some all places today, below is a couple of them. Also got the Bulldogs going with a few of them.
Good punting everyone, each way all day.

I said to snake when the siren went "I have never been more certain about someone missing a goal as right now". Smith was a one man horrorshow all night.

trainer ambivalence in first-up G1's is like a green batlight to this out of form punter. especially with a horse this good.

Dipped back in the spring kitty and took the 4's on her. I am punting on her being the 2nd best lady this spring.

I think she'll brain them.

Bit of after timing, but Daniel O'Sullivan is the single best punter in racing media land.

Nailed the Rose. Leysy backed Astern on his tip, just didnt go further on multi's.

Tip: Scroll through to 5.30 min mark to get to Rose.

T.Bailey who trained Miss Haughty in 1989 Flight Stakes - Could be Trevor Bailey, formerly from Canberra now of Gold Coast - http://www.trevorbailey.com.au/the-team.html

JR Davis who trained Chamfa in 1985 Moir Stakes (may have being based in Pakenham ot Cranbourne)
AJ Douglas who trained High Equity in 1988 Wakeful and VRC Oaks - Suggested Alex Douglas (not harness driver Alec Douglas).

AG Porter who trained Stargwyni in 1984 AJC Oaks
AT Rae who trained Lenka's Choice in 1986 Australia Guineas
MJ Robins who trained Celestial Motion in 1985 Caulfield Guineas (maybe for sale) . Suggested Mick L. Robins of Rain Lover fame - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain_Lover but wrong middle initial. Dunno.

Jockey E Carter who rode Windy Minx in 1986 underwood stakes (I believe from Albury) - Almost certainly Eric Carter - https://www.racing.com/jockeys/eric-carter

I have contacted various racing clubs and looked up trove etc and at state library and found plenty of answers but these ones have alluded me. Any help would be greatly appreciated

We should be ab;e to get this A G Porter with Stargwyni. Damn it to hell.

Thanks Jack
I have since found some answer
John Davis
John Harris
John Higgins
Jim Murdoch

I think T Bailey is Trevor but I see there was a Terry at same time but cannot find middle initial to differente.
Will explore Alex Douglas and see if can find another horse he trained that may match AJ
Thanks for Eric Carter
Mick Robins frustrates me, is all evidence show Mick J and Rain Lover is Mick L
