Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Chris Newman has a share in WOWEE.. won in Adelaide on sat. terrific effort. Trained by John Sadler. We have a horse also with John Sadler, our boy beat Wowee by 4 lengths 2 weeks ago at Flemington, so may pay to follow him, Mr Sommerville (Danzero/Aunty Betty) both really good horses with a greyt trainer, follow both !!! Mr S may be at Sandown next wed 22nd, just check. Also follow Linton from the same stable.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Heh Heh. Looks like Gai's rather large mouth has tripped her up lol.

She really does talk some nonsense. Blames Nash for his ride on More Joyous flopping in the All Aged (when it was a beauty), blames the track condition, said Singo was the reason she couldnt thhink straight at the initial enquiry when the horse was clearly off. Then cries that the enquiry has been unfair on her family & there name has been dragged through the mud. Yes Gai, the Waterhouse name has been synonymous with all that is good in Horse Racing in Australia. :rofl

Funniest thing though, was in trying to defend her actions she tells all that More Joyous was also lame before its previous run in the Queen of the Turf.

Was she the the stewards ponder. OK we'd better investigate that as well. hahaha

If only she's have copped the rightful whack on the chin in the first place. Oh dear.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Not to mention the slur on her fellow trainers something like " I am not some country hick". Loves to play the Class card does Gai..... A real North Shore trait.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

It's all "muscle and bone", "muscle and bone" and if they don't run good enough time Tuesday morning, they go around again. Couldn't tip over a milk carton. Biggest carnie in the game.

You're a bit harsh, Gyps. It's a money factory and Gai plays the percentages. She's about the low hanging G1s as any factory stable should be.

On the Singo/Gai stink I think it's cut and dried.

Gai point blank shafted Singo at the barrier draw of the Cox Plate. He rolled over after making various threats. Weak.

He should have pulled all his horses including the chanceless More Joyous at the time. Instead he let it simmer and then had a meltdown.

Too slow, Sing-O. This was always about the Cox Plate barrier draw. Why wait?

On a brighter note, the Gyps and I went to Eagle Farm today. It wasn't the massacre it should have been. But with Linton railing through (courtesy of Nick "The Rail Man" Hall) at 30/1 we had a profitable trip. We were there for the grey.

We shot our bolt a day early on Bashan (tenth?) at Swan Hill. So the punting bank was wounded.

Had the Stradbroke preceded the sales (and Bashan) we'd have walked out with Isopach at 45k. Paid for by the bookies. (My other fancy Veeten went for 22k. I budgeted 12k for him and not a cent more.) Prices were inflated for all but Isopach due to the withdrawal of many interesting lots. (Metallurgical would have got 100k - Maule's Creek got 75k.) They withdrew dozens on the day.

At the sale-yard, Gypsy was calling Tinkler every *smile* of the epoch while Thompson, as it turned out, was standing next to him. "Thompson musta been thinking the same thing," said The Professor. Nah. Thompson was in. He'll be training them, won't he?

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

The Gyps and I went hard on Upbeat today. Got the run, the horse and the rider (N. Hall) and then got beat a lip, 20/1, Then the protest.

If you can, watch the 7th of Upbeat behind Fulgur. Betting time.

We can win from here. Double up.

Probably wins if he goes straight. Cost himself the best ground where all the other winners had come from.

He went as straight as he could from nineteen wide at the 800m, L2!

Anyway I went again last start and we had a bit more luck, some of it good. Heh heh. Still got some back on the drum div. Nick Hall got caught by the surprising collapse of Mr O'Ceiran at the 600m. Kidded Nolen then got caught by Fry, who rode like he was Dolly Dunn in a Blue Diamond. Hall was on the job. Not that he'd bet, of course.

Duffy back on tomorrow at $4.25. My cue is in the rack.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

A City Girl going around tomorrow (Wed) in Darwin. It's Ladies Day in the Darwin Carnival so hopefully her name brings some luck. Moves up to her preferred distance, drops back in class, 3rd start this prep. Race 4 #8

Race 1 #4 at Werribee - Danapaise - have been told they are very confident of a win. RFC not KFC punting law numero uno #Don't bet in maiden races and expect to turn a profit, only bet if punting for fun.

Haven't seen the race but I'm told it won well. I didn't back it but will Blackbook it now it's on the winners list.

She had a crack and ran 3rd, disappointed she didn't kick up the straight. Made the mistake of letting owner's emotion influence the betting strategy and lost the lot. Hopefully she gets a run on Cup Day (Aug 5th).

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Tragic day yesterday in Darwin on their biggest day of the racing year with the death of jockey Simone Montgomerie. Thoughts are with her family and the tight-knit racing community of the Territory.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

sad news about simone. being a jockey is a very risky profession.

on sunday all over macca was talking about nash. said he went from melbourne to ride in sydney and is now a jockey in darwin. has nash left gai or did macca just mean for the cup carnival. also does anyone know why brad hasn't been riding lately. my tab acct is waiting patiently for his return.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Brad rode Second Effort to victory in the Bletchingly at Caulfield the Saturday before last rosy.

he hasn't ridden in the last week or so though when he's usually riding all over the state. often with great results at long odds. maybe holidays..maybe suspended...maybe elsewhere..dunno.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Looks like his most recent rides were at Ballarat last Wednesday. Don't know why he didn't ride at the weekend.

Nash was in Darwin to ride Extra Zero in the Cup.
Brad is probably having a week or two off now that the jockey Premierships are over, he won the Australia-wide premiership, and Nash won the Sydney premiership.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

ta tigerman. i didn't know about their premiership wins. don't follow nash that much in sydney but brad has been an absolute money machine this year. so many long odds country winners. it's almost been cheating to back him :hihi
