Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

There is nobody to cart Barakey into the race so he must lead alone. (And probably *smile* off early to pinch it.) MoC will sit third in a line. Both Williams and Clark want his back but Martin should get it. At the 400m MoC will move into the race, within a length and a half or less. Undeniably will sit but move to his hind quarter as Ready moves outside him and begins to let down.

At the 200m MoC will join and crush Barakey. Shamexpress will sprint up at this stage to almost join him with Better than Ready a half length off and Undeniably another half astern.

Prebble knows all this and is looking for a split. And then if the Perth fucktards can manage a thought Luckygrey will move through.

Prebble on the inside. Luckygrey wide.

Undeniably, Moment of Change and Better Than Ready will fight it out. Spirit of Boom nudging through into the third or fourth hole. (Unless my bloke isn't quite good enough. But one in three years he will be.) Fontelina and Shamexpress weakening. The grey closing in weakish company.

My numbers:

12, 13, 2
6
14, 1, 10
5.

Good luck, punters. Hope ya liked the form. Gyps an me are on the job. I'm on Undeniably. If the money comes I will go again. An exception to a rule I never disobey - the bigger the price the bigger the bet. Still 50/1.

Sorry I couldn't tell you that Darci Be Good was five lengths better than his rivals in the Villiers, and hopelessly unsuited at Warwick Farm. But I did tell you about Stratum in his Newmarket.

It's time to bet. Finish fifth? Take your lumps.

Sticking with Better than Ready in the Newmarket.

Aus Cup wide open. Not sure as yet, might well spec Tanby. Liked his run 1st up, 30/1 currently & should get better.
How'd you go Magoo? :rofl . Death, taxes and Leysy not able to tip a winner!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

A City Girl is having a go tonight R5 #5 Fannie Bay, Darwin. She'll be right there at the finish.

Not far off jack :clap. barakey seemed to have a stroke of the heart about as long as a clinton king drop punt. They reckon he threw a plate, but it looked like an old fashion capitulation to me. I was with a big punter who stood to retire if MoC could hold on. Withering run by shamex. EW on Undeniably would have pumped a bit of gunk out of the arteries for you.

Got a quality tip at odds for the Doncaster from an owner in the Aust Cup i'll share discreetly closer to the race ;)

You do realise Tanby was each way and ran 3rd at $6 a place

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Leysy was going to let him go MK, funny watching him stalk leysy around even when a winning bet was thrown out.

Managed to get $9 the place. Nice collect e/w.

& Geez Jack, Undeniably finished 4th. Stiff & not far away friom a big collect.

And quiet on Better than ready though Magoo? And tipping NZ? One doesnt have to stalk Leysy to see his woeful tipping record, you put it out there pretty regularly old boy.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thankyou for pointing out leysy was well in front over the weekend.

The winnings were well spent. :-*

My bloke was well beaten by... mistake, Leyser. But destroyed the rest. Not good enough. Meh. It happens.

On Tanby (chance IMO) if you can find the hole you win, broo. Well played. You got the main thing right. Your handicapper was too much horse for the other adults. Great class judgement.

Lose and win? Great flavour. One I missed on the day for a dollar.

I won't go into the three mistakes I made about the Newmarket. They all hurt but eh. Next year I'll be administering the pain.

Thank you, tg, for the generous reminder.

A note of bitterness. When was the last time that unwelcome garden gnome didn't soil his bed an hour before dawn? Newitt sh!ts the bed at sunset. Ask Mick "Ride more like Oliver" Price. Weak race for jockeys. Newitt has movies made about rooms named after his calmest moments. Brilliant ride.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

A final note on the Newmarket: if a Perth sprinter were in a dim sim I wouldn't eat it. And I love dim sims.

The Australian Cup. Glass Harmonium went quickish average mongrel in front. The field almost choked trying to keep within a sprint but could not. Very slow horses behind the leaders.

The grown-ups were very sick at the 600m.

Tanby destroyed the adults. I'd beat Green Moon at WFA. And in what was, for history, a slowly run affair, the 3yos made hamburger of the adults. Getting 4.5kgs from Tanby. And Green Moon. And beating them four. (Ouch!)

Super Cool again comprehensively outclassed FiveAndAHalfStar at a middle distance. Rodd vs Boss matters.

They went 2:00.9 for the trip. (Remember 1968 when that was fast?). The 3yos may have a future. At WFA the others are mongrels. (OK, maybe GM can place. ;D Nup. Nah. No way 'e can win.)

your up early Jack. Put GH in the black book for the Doncaster 20/4. Tighter track, 1600m hcp, fitter 3rd up.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I've got a bit of a thing for Glass Harmonium in slow 10f races at Flemington, tgw. Not a big fan in harder racing. But he goes into my tris at big odds if they elect to run at the mile.

Messara took Mahisara up to Gosford for a trial last week. Craig Williams on. Very, very unusual. Mahisara is in the New(castle)market today will probably run 9/4, even 7/4. Already been trimmed from 13/4 to 11/4.

And the 100/1 for the Donny is gone. 50/1 now. Looks like he may be set for it, third up in a month. I'm on but will go again if I can get value after he qualifies.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I went to Moonee Valley last night to watch Black Caviar.
What a thrill, I had never seen her in the flesh before. The roar of the crowd as she hit the lead was amazing.
It was a real party atmosphere, and a sensational night.

simply a freak...bloody good for sport in this country with all the negative stuff goin on

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I wouldn't know much about the calibre of the horses Black Caviar is going up against, but they don't sound like they are world beaters.

Does this diminish the record a little?

Are they putting her in races she can't lose to keep the streak alive, with no chance of losing?

Surely she needs to go up against the best each race to give her immortal status.

I wouldn't know but seems shes not going against the best of the rest these days, and in very small fields.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

The only reason she is in small fields with 2nd rate competitors is because everyone dodges her U2.

She contests the best sprint Weight for Age G1's in the land, not her fault they all run scared.

Dont forget she ran the fastest ever 1000m @ Flemington last start either. ;)

There's a grain of truth to the criticisms, but don't be fooled, we won't see a horse do this again in our lifetime. The fact she hasn't been challenged more often diminishes the record slightly, but it could be diminished a lot more and still be freakish. A bit of a shame the prizemoney for top sprints isn't up there with the Melbourne Cup/Cox Plate, otherwise we'd have internationals coming here to take her on.

The Newmarket domination with 57kg, and coming back from 1400 in seven days to down Hay List at his peak in the Lightning, are phenomenal high points. Any horse with those two performances to its name would be recognised as great, even without another win of note.

No fault of the horse or the connections. She is entered in top races and has made some pretty handy opposition look second rate. She went to England and won a top race against the odds there. She's done things that other horses just couldn't do. She sets record times. She shares the record Group 1 wins (and will possibly overtake it). Sometimes she's done that without seeming challenged. She'd probably be better still if any other horse pushed her such is her racing spirit. It doesn't diminish her record one bit if other trainers don't take her on. She's certainly not hidden away. The connections don't know the field size or the calibre of opponents when they post their entries.

No matter what the future holds for her Black Caviar is an absolute superstar. She has nothing to prove.
