Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks T44. I hope Fabulist goes out in a blaze of glory. It's fun following our PREnder horses.

Fabulist is going around at Geelong today on the synthetic (where she is 2 wins from 2 starts).

I wasn't punting today but $3.20 place for 3rd is a nice result for those who did. Good luck if Sencircles has a run next week.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks, I think she ran her usual honest race but didn't see it as I was in car en route to Adelaide.

Funnily enough Sencircles is raced in partnership with a few of the North players, Forrito, Adams, Greenwood. Will have to nobble them before we play them.

Cold and wet in Adelaide this morning. Not super wet though, just enough to make the ball greasy and difficult to be precise with our skills. Surely Conca plays!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Shock Value having a go today at Flemington, R7 #2. Definite podium chance today.
Bombalatomba going around in R4 worth a look.
Kellini at Rosehill R7 #4 should go well.
Dr Turf has an interest in Saptapadi Flem R6 and he says the long odds don't reflect the horse's chances. Last time I heard him say this he delivered in spades.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Absolute horror day.... Shocky looked really good, full of beans. Ben said when he asked him to go..nothing, not the horse I have ridden the last two times !! Vet report nothing. Track was Ok, so no excuses there either! Waiting to hear back from trainer, who said they just went too fast too soon, and take him back out to 1200mts. Personally I think he needs a well earned rest. Sorry if anyone lost their money, he really was in with a good chance...one of those days...

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I believe this will be her last run (but I have been wrong before!). Trainer thinks she will go very well, her work has been excellent and she does like the Thorough track. Each way as per usual, she is at least honest. If she gets the breaks she can win but would not be going overboard. Unfortunately the first two emergencies both got a run, they should be the hardest to beat.

Fingers crossed, could be a good start to the weekend, Fab wins her last race and the tigers give Carlscum a beating on Saturday night.

Go Tigers

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

No excuses, was perfectly positioned but just didn't finish off. No doubt the stable will have the usual litany of excuses but to my untrained eye she has had enough. Off to the breeding barn and no more costly tips from T44.

Go Tigers

Sad to see one of my favourite horses Typhoon Tracy die this week giving birth.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Caulfield tomorrow - race 7 #4 Lucky Penny. Will win. (and that didn't come from the jockey ;D )

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Frankel last Tuesday, first try beyond 1600m in the Juddmonte International (G1, $1.1m). 13 from 13 now. This is a superhorse.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Hi Guys,
Feel a little "guilty" we have just bought into a new horse (3weeks ago - BMRC) called Prior. New Stable, hasnt run since Jan, had only 2 start previously. He is said to be a work in progress, and will only do better than what he does today (yesterday) Well, he won in the last stride. Still very green, hanging in the straight, but won. I was hoping we would get a place, but that was terrific. Think he will be a horse to follow, will get a lot further with his breeding, but will be taken slowly through the grades. G Boss has quite an opinion of him. Was going to post but just didnt have time.
Look out for him, think you will get a good run for your money..

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Well, Punters, the Spring Carnival is all but upon us and it shapes as a very interesting one.

The ten furlong issue is uppermost in my mind. Manighar, once he acclimatised and fell into good hands (and Persian Rugs), proved himself to be the best of a bad lot in the autumn in Melbourne.

He was consequently destroyed by a mare that can't run ten furlongs - the classy and game More Joyous.

Pierro has a plenty of both those characteristics and is favourite based on the lack of opposition IMO. And Lloyd has a very interesting prospect in Green Moon.

BTW Happy Trails is a fine welter pony in the making and just won the Feehan. Happy days. Any wonder Pierro is favourite. Not much about.

Sincero won with authority last start but reeks of gay deceiver. Still I rate him second line.

December Draw is a class below Happy Trails. Certified mongrel. DD is 20/1.

Ethiopia is an interesting one. Jeez he motored in a lacklustre classic.

FWIW I'm taking my chances on the wind operation and backing Mosheen all the way out. (She keeps blowing - not in th wind sense - that's a furphy IMO so they have an excuse if she doesn't come up.) Second in her slipper coupled with a relaxed ten length win in her Oaks make her historic. We know Alantic jewel only had to win on resuming to cement Cox Plate favouritism. And I know Smerdon thinks his (then) filly is better.

Mosheen is going around in the Show Day Handicap (whatever that's called now). And she's 30/1 for the Plate. I'll go again and again until Smerdon gives up. Who knows, maybe she's almost ready for some help again?
