thanks winmad - made me look like I knew what I was doing with the brother-in-law at the bowls club today. Also snared a nice chunk of the quaddie at Rosehill with a 1 minute homework - just included everything with the "c" - won at distance at track.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Glad you got onto Folding Gears. We have, at the moment, no answers for Shock Value. He was in the best possy, then just didnt fire. Not like him..he really likes a chase. We will assess him over the next few days, and hope something comes out. He is a better horse than this.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Wash up - another frustrating day "at the office". Very disappointed - in the end the things which we thought were positives (the claiming apprentice and an inside barrier) were the things which cost us. Missed the start, largely due to inexperience of jockey, then she was caught back and inside horses and ran into backsides everywhere she went. Don't think she would have beaten the winner regardless. I would like to drop back a grade and run in a race that she "should" win rather than trying toget all the stars to align and win a Saturday class mares race. I would also like to get away from Caulfield where despite 9 attempts she is yet to win.

As with all horse owners we find positives out of anything - she did feature in the stewards report but...... running out of patience.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Has she run up the straight six at Flemington T44? Maybe that would suit though finding the right race might be hard.

Has she ever been to Flemington at all T44? I can't recall seeing her run there.

Our bloke with DOB is the opposite, seems to run his best at Caulfield and can't put it together at home base.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

That word again.... Apprentice !!!!
Rather carry the weight, let them "learn" on someone else's horse !!!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

No she hasn't ran at Flemington - despite it being her home track. It seems that Flemington do not have mares 1200-1400m races that would suit. I think we could bite the bullet and run her in an open race as the girls have been seemingly better than the boys for the past year or two. Mares get weight relief for this as well which would help. There are a few options coming up but no specific mares races at Flemington. Not sure where we are heading and yes I agree that the straight would suit her nicely.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Keen on Her Diamond Rock in the third at HQ tomorrow. Ran into a brick wall last start when looking likely. Backed from 15s into 8s today.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Warwick Farm tomorrow 18/04 - race 5 Sour Mash. Those close to the horse are very confident it will go well.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

And 2 more horses die in the Grand National. Might as well just set up a dog food cannery near Bechers Brook.

Races abandoned today at Warwick Farm.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I never understand how the TAB works - how can the form on the TAB website (provided by SKY) be updated before the TAB approx odds?
Race 5 Lady Pania is scratched and this is reflected in the form but still running on the approx odds.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I don't bet often. Ok weekly. But I vary the sums a lot.

The Doncaster interests me. Rangirangdoo is harshly treated at the weights. 58kg?

I got Rekindled Interest at 30 bucks. RI is hopeless second up but a certainty beaten in the Ryder. Third up in the Donny (I'll go again.) *smile*. He' scratched. Ouch. I mean Ouch.

Sincero only has one pace but in a truly run Ryder he was the slashing run.

RI out? New race.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Sincero's a good bet Jack, especially with the heavy track. But if it handles the going Shoot Out will win.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Not sure on Shoot Out. He's not one of leysy's.

Am keen on the gun mare Secret Admirer. Loves the wet & crucially loves the Randwick mile where she's a two-time G1 winner.

She will be in the finish & rest assured you will get a great run for your money.

Currently $8.50. That will do leysy.

Ah Leysy, never fails to fail...... :hihi

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

We all forgot about More Joyous. Reckon we underrate her in Melbourne, even though the track drying out to a Dead 5 probably helped her.
