Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

A certain 5 year old mare returns to Caulfield this Saturday - and no it is not Black Caviar, but it is Fabulist....... she has drawn a barrier (at last) 6 in a field of 12. Not well off at the weights as the top weights will all claim and therefore only an each way chance at best. Will be doing her best regardless and is in good shape.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Wishing you all the best with Fabulist..James Winks, going well.
Will be cheering you on

Barrier more or less negated by the scratchings/small field. I have some things to do which may well conclude with lunch & a few bets at the pub, in which case I'll have a little something on like at this meeting 12 months ago. Better luck this time 44!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks for the good wishes, I think she may need them! Ends up in barrier 5 in a field of 7 so actually not well drawn. A lot of the pace is out of the race with the scratchings so guess we are back to our normal position, need luck and a carry into the race from the corner. At least a small field means she won't be too far back. Miss Octopussy clearly the one to beat.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good luck T44.

Not a bad double from Nash last night. Usually a reasonably safe bet when he comes down for a ride or two. :clapping

Stopped half way and got the Albury Cup too.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

A couple in Sydney yesterday too. My boy is on fire.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Apologies to any of you investors that fell into that 5 yo mare. She was off the bit and chasing from the start - never ever a factor and certainly never a winning chance. Pretty disappointing really. She wouldn't want to reproduce that sort of run too often or she may be off reproducing other things next breeding season!

We will probably look for a 1400m race as they were just too quick for her yesterday. Still optomistic but losing confidence.

Hopefully the tigers can produce the goods on Thursday night.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Dont give up...1400 may be a different story, have to give her the chance. Some of them at 5 start wanting to be a MUM!!! Lets hope she is not thinking that way ..yet !! I am still happy to follow her.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

From the owner......

"XXXX and myself have a half share in a horse running on Saturday 31 March in Dubai. He will be running in the $5m Sheema Classic over 2410m on turf. The original plan was to run in the $10m Dubai Cup however this is run on a dirt surface which he is not familiar with. He is obviously in with a chance however he will be up against a number of well performed horses from all parts of the globe. Beaten Up is trained at Newmarket UK by William Haggas. Keep everything crossed! "

and others tomorrow 28th March.... "both imports seem to be going well but may need a run or two"
Canterbury R5 #5 Sour Mash
Sandown R5 #6 Garud

Sour Mash is out, how about a quinella one for drinkers, 1 and 2 (Rosys boyfriend on board).

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

only just got this and they are jumping in 10 minutes......

Contract Caterer Toowoomba R7 - from the TRAINER
"He is entered to race today at Toowoomba in the XXXX Gold Toowoomba Cup with a scheduled start time of 5.05pm AEDT. Bruce Hill reported that the horse has come through his run with no problems at all. He said the horse looks terrific and he is very happy with him going into today's race. The only worry will be if he handles the synthetic track but providing he does Bruce believes he will be very competitive and hard to beat. "

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I'll definitely be on it again next time, missed the start by a mile then covered a large amount of ground trying to find a gap to sneak through.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

The winner of last year's Cox Plate, Pinker Pinker, died this afternoon after a reaction to a routine vetinary treatment. Not sure what the "routine vetinary treatment" was but I'll fondly remember her as the winner of the plate on the first day I saw Black Caviar run live.

Bloody hell, that is unfortunate news. Can remember a gun 2yo named Red Rancher going in for a routine procedure and not coming out of the anaesthetic. Apparently it happens sometimes.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Back to Caulfield again this weekend. Fab steps up to 1400m which should suit. Has finally (before scratchings) drawn a barrier (5 of 11) and Katelyn Mallyon goes on meaning she only has to carry 51kgs. Think there is enough pace in this race with a few horses like Sheila's Star and Follonica which go forward so hopefully we get a nice sit midfield and she can use her sprint (especially with the light weight) to finish over the top of them. $21 fixed odds TAB at the moment is very tempting, $4.80 the place even more so. Her best form is 2nd up albeit off a small break. Good luck to all punters this weekend, some great racing in Sydney - pity All Too Hard didn't accept for the Slipper. Americain, Mosheen, More Joyous and Samaready all look very hard to beat, but not much value.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good luck with Fab on Sat, certainly will have a dollar or two on her.
We have Shock Value, Race 6 3.27 Craig in Sydney, so we have Ben Melham on board. Will be ridden back this time with barrier 8 should suit. Dont want to be the Bunny again (2 seconds at M/Valley) 1400mts should be OK. Think a good each way chance. He certainly is a real trier and does like a chase.
Will be there so watch Fab as well...

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good luck Winmad & Tiger44 - I'll be on board.

On Sunday at Stawell......

Clang and Bang (CLANG) (Clangalang (AUS)/Musical Choice (AUS)):

Speed looks like it should be genuine with 5 Hay Bob, 2 Disclosed, 9 Inaura and 11 Black Coupez can all go forward.
Clang And Bang won well at Ballarat first up, steps up in class here but the strong speed should suit and now he has found winning form, he may be able to go on with it.
The hardest to beat look to be 3 Doctor Hush, ran in a really strong race first up, is fitter and the 1600 suits. 7 King Of Africa is going well and is on its home track here while 12 Sigidas is well drawn and races well here.
