So You Think is heading to the US for the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic. With the local contingent not terribly strong this year, he's well in the market at around 6/1. Conditions should suit - dirt racing bias towards on-pace runners, 2000m, tight track. Start time is 10:45am, Sunday week.

Thanks L2R2r. Expect the riding instructions to be to settle at the rear then.

Hey RT

Who is your tip for the Melbourne Cup?

I won't know until I get the track conditions and scratchings on Tuesday Morning........Cheers RT

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Fabulist is off to Adelaide for a run there tomorrow, should go very close.

My tip for the Cup is Dunaden best outsider Moyenne Corniche.

Good punting everyone!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Whats doing?

I posted my selection sat morning before I hit the road? Well I thought I had anyway. Rosy did I do anything that meant you had to wipe my post? Or did i just somehow stuff it up myself?

FWIW I went for a multi of Galah into Atlantic jewel into sepoy which got up. I know it was hardly a stretch but i didnt quite have the guts to go with glass harmonium at the time (i finally backed it at the last minute) :D

Sorry RT, i hope it didnt waste to much of your time wondering what i was doing. I was logging on now to get happy with myself & check if i was on for the cup. :(

I suspect the latter. :)

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Who is everyone going for in the Cup? I've never heard of most of the horses and find that detracts a tad from my interest factor. I will be watching the race of course, it would be sacrilege not to, but not sure I'll have a flutter or not yet.

I also had these suspicions but thought id check if perhaps id posted something i shouldnt have in my haste to get it on the board sat morning.

I would never doubt thee rosy ;)

Whilst ill have more in depth look tonight at this stage I like At first sight & Niwot (also didnt have the guts to back it on sat) being at the good end of the weights.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

If Jukebox Jury can bring its European form to Australia it will be hard to beat. Best outsiders are At First Sight and Moyenne Corniche.

Agree that its form is impressive, one of the classiest of the internationals to run here. Can he succeed where other good horses have failed in racing on the pace under a big weight? As ever with the visitors, I'm content to find out without investing. In almost every case, the handicapper has had the measure of the internationals with the strongest on-paper form.

Need to look at the last third of the field and sleep on it before deciding on my selection. :flush

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

He's an outstanding hoop. Group 1 winning jockey all around the world. If he gets beat it will be because the horse wasnt good enough ILO.

A far less talented jockey Yasunari Iwata won the 06' cup on Delta Blues having never been to the track dont forget.

Hopefully it means leysy will just get a couple of extra points off the bookies.
