Thoroughbred racing

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

What happened to Leysy's previews and reviews of the big race days?

My punting has gone seriously downhill without them.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Soz Draga leysy's still following them closely & having a decent spring (would have been a corker had Green Moon won), but too many (well mainly one) knockers are ready & willing to put the boots in as soon as you tip one that doesnt win.

Far easier to not put up with the crap & sit back doing your own thing.

Yeah that’s fair enough. But it was good banter. Makes the Carnival not as much fun.

Can we get a peace treaty up and running with Tigertim?

Green Moon was a fantastic run - had a far harder run than SS. I assume it is going straight into the Melb Cup?

And So You think got rolled again I see. Missed the race - any comment?

Thanks Rosy - when you get to my age you stop counting - my darling wife tells me I am 57 and reckons she now has 3 x 19yo's rolled into one :hihi

Had a beaut day - got terrific presents - one being a lovely clock - backed 5 winners from 10 races and finished well in front.

Bit sad we didn't have a punters club bet today - but there is always next week - W.S. Cox Plate Day at "Money Valley"

Sorry remote :-[

I am on holidays at the moment and not near my usual computer. Got your PM but then it slipped my mind.

Looked to have every possible. Beaten twice now over 2000m at Ascot.

Without being too critical of O'Brien who is obviously a master horseman in his own right, I don't know that the stable has yet got a handle on SYT. After giving him the customary European kid gloves treatment initially, SYT was asked to come back 400m in distance, less than two weeks after racing overseas.

It's up in the air now as to whether they send him for the Breeders' Cup. If they feel the horse is well, I'd like to see SYT run as I suspect US-style racing would suit him (albeit with a question mark on the dirt). Also might help him to run the right (i.e. Melbourne) way. :p

Green Moon will have to run somewhere before the Cup, currently 52 in order, so needs to win something to make the field.

MV Cup? Saab?

Thanks Draga, going to make it hard to qualify.

You mean you don't tip at 100% like the other experts?

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Has every possible. The racing over the has a lot more depth in the middle distances than here. His results have been consistently very good.

But in saying that he's not going as well as in Aus. He had an electrifying sprint here. They've trained that out of him ILO.

Yep. No doubt their best middle-distance horses and stayers are better than ours. We rarely see their best horses at their peak out here. Pity. But might here a fair bit more whingeing from our top trainers if they did send their best.
Can't wait to see BC over there next June/July

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Just for leysy but I am sure I heard on the radio today that Fransesca Cumani is now single.

PRE Punters Club

Lets go with Streak and Tannerztige again as they are both good blokes.

Guys WS Cox Plate Day - what a days racing - sure to be a winner or two there somewhere?

Please have your selections to me by 11am on Saturday.

Cheers RT

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Hopefully it wasn't one of the good suitcases. They can be hard to replace.

Just shoved Mrs Leysy out the door with a suitcase.

I will fight you to the death.

Really liked Bauer's run yesterday as a cup warmup. Our girl could be in a very good mood in 12 days time.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Bauer looks line ball to get a run unfortunately.

There's been a few calls for leysy to fire up the thread & give a preview. Will fire one up for Plate day.

Race 4 & 5 are look on races. Watch Manawanui & BC go round.

In gets interesting come Race 6 & the MV Cup.

- Americain is the best weighted horse of the day. If right & handles the track could win easily. Has he come back as well this campaign. Not sure. Concussion plates on can be a worry. Leysy is going with the up & coming stayer Shewan. Flying at present & could well go on with it here. Will give a great sight at $7. Leysy's on.

- Crystal Waterford Mile - Wide betting race with quite a few deceivers involved. Leysy got one at odds that shapes as a real threat. Is on the up, well weighted, has the ability & handles the track going by his fast finishing 3rd two starts back against the pattern. Happy Trails at $15. Will have some of that. But save on Ginga Dude at $14. Will be in it for a long way & worth a shout at the price. Maybe a cheeky quinella that could pay anything.

- The Plate - Shapes as a top race but near impossible to line the form up. You have the NZ form with Jimmy Choux which has stood up with Mufhasa's Toorak win with top weight. The Stocks Stakes Mares form that has been hto all spring - Kings Rose, Pinker Pinker & Secret Admirer who beat Pinker Pinker last start in the Epsom. The older male WFA form with Lion Tamer (blinkers back on a big change), Rekindled Interest & Glass Harmonium. Then add the 3 year old champ Helmet. Dont discount the old grey Efficient either who was storming home last start. Impossible to lineup. When in doubt at the Valley go with the track lover. Rekindled Interest it is.

- Race 9 - One of the bets of the day - Little Surfer Girl. $5. Yes Please. That is all.

Good luck all & leysy will leave you with this
