Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Been a ripping Carnival for leysy this far, backed Glass Harmonium in the Mackinnon & Woorim in the last on Sat at 14's, followed up with African Pulse & obviously the cup winner. Hopefully it continues today.

Like Vittoria in the Oaks. Has a genius trainer of stayers looking after her & whilst the form looks bad she has been racing against the boys until switching back to fillies grade last start with an excellent Oaks trial coming from last at the turn to run 4th.

Worth an e/w ticket at $11 ILO.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Can you imagine the hype about Mosheen if we'd never seen Atlantic Jewel go around? It's hard to imagine, but AJ would just about have lapped some of the others.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Bad luck Remote. It's a shame we had another late Punters Club scratching when the racing has been so outstanding.

Thanks very much for running the Punters Club again this year. Your generosity and support towards PRE's running costs is, as always, greatly appreciated. We've had quite a successful year results wise with eastlavvy leading the way. It's been great fun to follow our horses each week. Thanks all who took part.

On another note how good was Black Caviar. I loved the comment "sweet 16 and never been whipped". She cruises. Awesome to watch. It's amazing only 6 horses in the race with 4 of them from the same stable. I wouldn't mind the runners ups' cheques from a million dollar race.

On yet another note can anyone please tell me what time So You Think's race is on?

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE Punters Club

As we have been through the PRE Punters Club list twice this year I feel we should close the year off as of yesterday.

Therefore it gives me great pleasure to announce -

eastlavy - PRE Punter of the Year - 2011.

Congratulations eastlavy you are the doyen of tipsters for 2011.

Thanks to all members during the 2011 tipping season we will return next year with a revamp of the competition and maybe a small rule change in that I will ask all PRE Punters Club members to PM or SMS me their mobile phone numbers - I promise to only use them to sms you when it is your turn in the chair.

Thank you again and until next season - good punting to all.......

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

A bit late Rosy but So You Think ran at 10am this morning (Melbourne Time). Sat behind the leaders into the straight got a run through on the inside but was overran by swoopers and finished mid field - average run. Think JB Cummings might have done a better job of preparing the horse as by all reports he has lightened off a bit.

Well done RT on running the Punters Club again.

Congrats Eastlavy on being the PRE Punter of the Year.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks for that T44. Agree about Bart and So You Think. Behind every outstanding horse there is a very astute and knowledgeable trainer who knows the horses needs better than anyone else.

Congrats for winning the Punters Club award eastlavy. Well done. :clapping

If you Pm me an address I'll send you a 2011 team poster, signed by the players, as a prize.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Makybe Diva 1st born won today at Bendigo, in Rockstardom ridden by mark Zahra trained by Danny O'Brien at 1600

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Anyone going to Sandown Saturday. Reiwoldt, Cotchin and a "choir" of Tiger jockeys (Brad Rawiller is the best one) will sing the national Anthem !!! There will be lots for the kids to do with members of the team as well. Try to come along, as excellent racing as well as the main attraction... our boys !!! ;D :rofl

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Show your Richmond Membership Card ... and FREE ENTRY !! Thats $20 saved.

$20 to get in with a couple of post-season G2's as the features? Bloody hell.

Apparently Patrick Smith had a real crack at the racing industry yesterday but no one reads the Oz and you need to subsribe now to read on line.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

OK Just dont Go...
Saw Americain , the stable were so good, any photos etc., nothing too much trouble. Madighar and Saptopardi were all together, same thing so obliging.
Someone has to pay for the prize money, horses etc., so $20 not too bad, and you got in for free with your RFC Membership Card. $20 for a whole day i dont think is too bad when you can see the likes of Americain, up close, not like at Flemington. It is the end of the Spring Carnival...dont like it. stay home.
Americain is just the most beautiful stallion, very calm, and will be an asset as he will be a staying here. Cant believe the negatives about this.

The boys for the Anthem was just another terrific attraction... Brad and Craig Newitt in the Tiger Jumpers....
Must say I have heard worse ........

Last time I attended this meeting, entry cost the same as for any other non-carnival meeting. To the rank-and-file punter, it's a bit exploitative; at best, I'd call it "cheeky". Nobody would confuse the roll call of Sandown Guineas winners with a list of turf greats. And the former Sandown Cup appears to have been neutered by running it at WFA, judging by the number of entries of late.

Agree though that people who hardly ever attend the races may well consider $20 to be reasonable for a day out.

On Americain...do you think breeders/buyers will support his progeny?

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

On Americain..... No I dont think the breeders will support him. They all still want those early 2yr olds that most you :( never see again.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Go Fabulist - the form lines suggest he is in this race right up to the tips of his ears - Are you taking your money to the track Tiger44?
