Thoroughbred racing

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks RT.

My bets are from Caulfield.....so many good horses.

Race 2 No 1 Emerald Downs $5 Win

Race 3 No 9 Midnight Martini $5 Place

I hope we all have some luck today, especially bringbakflemmo!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

With apologies to the owners, has happened with So You Think going to O'Brien is symptomatic of the whole Irisih economy.

They get themselves a real winner, then completely play it wrong and ball things up. It is either that or they pay an exhorbitant price for a good performer, who on the international stage is nothing more than that.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I was really tempted to take a nibble at the possibility of Black Caviar not winning today.

Luckily my internet was down until now.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Bad luck fellas.

I thought Gay and Nash wouldn't be in Melbourne with Descarado unless they thought they had a good chance. Decided to have my first bet for ages. A very nice profit on my $10ew which I'll move to the PRE acct to cover postage etc.

Leysy is talking through his pocket here -

But is Michael Rodd the softest & most overrated jockey in the country...

Couldn't resist backing BC. It's a better return than the stockmarket at the minute.

I take it you're referring to his ride on Valentine Miss in the 8th, because I lost a fair bit on that! Should have won by a couple of lengths easily. In saying that I thought his ride on King Mufhasa in the Toorak wasn't bad, but yeah he certainly has his moments.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

She is back! Hot on the heels of the return of that other good (ok great) mare last week, Fabulist makes her return to the track in the last race at Caulfield on Saturday. Drawn wide she will get back. Hopefully by the last race, the fence will be "off" and that swoopers will be able to win. She races well fresh and her work going into this has been excellent. Couldn't resist the $26 put up by TAB fixed odds which is only marginally better than the $1.06 put up for that other mare! As always she will need luck and a few other things go her way but she is due for some.

Re the Cup, think it is one of the poorest versions in recent years. The attrition of the good aussie horses has been remarkable leaving it to the internationals (in my opinion). I include December Draw amongst the Internationals although trained at Flemington now. Perhaps Mighty High each way for mine.

Good punting

Go Tigers

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good luck T44. I'll be attending the C Cup in the members this week so I may need a get out by the last.

You are correct Pommell. Rodds p!ss weak ride on Valentine Miss has only now been able to have leysy speak. Soft. Insipid. If he even half nudges the 200/1 shot on his outside during the run to get out she wins. By panels. & panels. Weak as *smile*. Froggie gets clear in that situation 10/10.

& yes leysy had doubles, all-ups, quaddies, you name it all running through her. Still a profitable day, but could have been HUGE.

Anyway all that is forgotten now that the single most attractive & desirable lady on the planet is back on our shores.

Ooh la la.

Thanks Rosy - when you get to my age you stop counting - my darling wife tells me I am 57 and reckons she now has 3 x 19yo's rolled into one :hihi

Had a beaut day - got terrific presents - one being a lovely clock - backed 5 winners from 10 races and finished well in front.

Bit sad we didn't have a punters club bet today - but there is always next week - W.S. Cox Plate Day at "Money Valley"

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good you had a beaut day Remote.

Disappointing we had no tipsters on CC day. Pity you weren't in the chair with that red hot form. Hopefully those up next week can do us proud on Cox Plate Day.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good to hear you had a good day Remote, mine would have been really good had Fabulist got up to run third instead of fourth but still very happy with the run. We plan to space her races this time in as she races best fresh, maybe a sprint race on Oaks Day (may be a bit soon as only 2 and a half weeks away).

Still a good day with Pernod's (a mare I used to race a long time ago) baby Zippa the Rippa winning in Adelaide.

Go Jimmy in the Cox Plate next week!

Cheers

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I apologies for not tipping! I was going to have it all on December Draw on the nose as it was a third leg in a huggeee treble for me and failed! Saved you the dosh ;)
