yeah it is Gyps.

The track could easily be anything between a good 3 & a heavy 10.

Pisses me off no end, Leysy. With that kind of scope you effectively need 3 plans of attack. No Evidence Needed is one i'm particurlary keen on IF it can stay reasonably dry. Obviously TyT should give her a hiding rain, hail or shine... But if TyT doesn't rock up, No Evidence Needed is entitled to be at least 3rd pick in the race.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Like Kudakulari in the Derby, was a good run in the AAMI Vase last week will run the trip at 25's I'll take some of that. Other than that an open day with the only other horse i'm sure of backing will be Alcopop will go better if it's firm early in the day. Do think Typhoon Tracey will romp in, am taking Yosei with the postage stamp weight in the exacta. Good luck guys & gals for tomorrow.

Interesting run in the Vase wasnt it. Almost took off too early, like they were trying to give him a tune up for Grand Final day.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Re the "virtual" cup to be called by Bruce McAvaney on Tuesday - not sure whether you can bet on it, even though they printed a market in yesterday's paper. A similar concept about 20 years ago, dubbed The Greatest Raceday in 150 Years, saw Bryan Martin call Phar Lap nosing out Carbine in the 3200m event. Phar Lap was allotted less weight than Carbine, thus the prospect of Australian racing's greatest icon being beaten was averted; nonetheless it was clear that Carbine would've beaten Phar Lap at level weights in the opinion of the handicapping panel.

With Phar Lap giving Carbine a kilo in this year's version, I'm declaring "Old Jack" punting gold at $11.  :p

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good luck to everyone having a bet today, especially T44 and Bernie. :)

Do you think we will see that strange fashion combination today at headquarters; the fascinator, the party dress and the gumboots?

Sydney Racing Provides Winners

Bernie saluted with Saramenha then he had the collect all up eachway Girlsgoracing which ran a great second and he finished with a collect of $22.88 which provides a win of $12.88.

Tiger44’s Linton ran a great race but just could not catch the impressive Maluckyday.

With Tiger44’s Linton into Bernie’s Saramenha and Girlsgoracing we got the place all up for $10 which gave us a further $47.53 collect less the $10 provides a further $37.53 return.

A total win of $50.41
(Rosy will remit to PRE Admin Bank Account on Monday)

This Tuesday 2 November 2010, Melbourne Cup Day the champion and challenger are -

Champion = Bernie
Challenger = Azzamoot

Bernie & Azzmoot – could you please post or PM me to show that you are ok to be the punters Tuesday?

The rules are simple -

1) Each punting day (usually Saturday) there is a challenger and a champion
2) Both the challenger and the champion have $10 to bet - either win or place or eachway and/or allup.

E.G. Either –
$10 win horse A, or
$10 place horse A, or
$5 win horse A and $5 win horse B, or
$5 win horse A and $5 place horse B, or
$5 place horse A and $5 place horse B, or
$5 eachway horse A, or
For those who wish to dare it is OK to have
$5 win horse A allup a win horse B, and $5 place horse A allup a place horse B, or
$5 win horse A and $5 place horse A allup a place horse B

3) If you collect more than the $10 outlay and more than your opponent on the day you become the champion next week.

4) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punter(s) in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on the thoroughbred thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

5) All profits on your bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

6) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I just asked myself a question: if I could have one of So You Think or Francesca Cumani as my own, which would I choose?

I'm still thinking about it.

No contest! Go for the girl. Horses take up too much room in bed.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I am really warming to Descarado in the Cup.

Ever since Flemmo spotted it up for the Caulfield cup, I have been watching it.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Well done Bernie. Linton had every chance. No excuse.

Bloody rain ruined the day (as expected). My betting was terrible again. Still there is always tomorrow .......

Shocking got a shocking barrier draw but still think he is the one to beat. Gunna need some luck to find a position in the run.

Congrats Bernie...pretty hot form. I thought Girlsgoracing was going to salute and got so excited barracking that my dog came to check things out. She looked very concerned.

Well done to T44 too. Linton wasn't quite up to winning on the day but it was a handy placing for our overall bet. 3 placings from 3 horses is pretty impressive.

Thanks for your payment Remote. As always it's greatly appreciated. You are too generous though adding in an extra day. I'd appreciate you deducting the $20 for Tuesday from Saturday's winnings so it's not at your expense.

Thanks to all the members of the Punters Club for participating. It not only helps with the running costs of this site, it also adds to the interest and fun.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Had a great betting day derby day, won a small fortune on Maluckyday. Saw it run in Sydney and have been on it ever since. Despite it being raw, it has every chance in the cup. Is a tough horse that relishes the battle.

What can you say about the champion So You Think? Many query it over the 3200 I don't. Comes from the right stock to run the distance, if it settles well and the pace is slightly off, which I think it may be it is a big show. I will be cheering it on, love seeing champions perform.

Have a couple of other horses in my thinking, but I will leave you with my roughie for a place, we know there is always one.

Harris Tweed. ;)

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Shoot Out, Americain and the Godolphin pair to fight out the minors.

The winner is cast in stone (of the punting, non-hard variety).
