The concerns stem from the female side as none of his dam's other seven winners have won beyond 1600m. Plenty of stamina going back a few generations though, and champions defy convention often enough. If he relaxes in the run, he's probably unbeatable. A big "if" though after the pre-race hoohah at the Cox Plate upset him a bit. Will be going around him at the 5/2 but like you, won't be upset to see him win.
Shoot Out ticks most of the boxes - stout bloodlines, touch of class, form through the right races, consistent. Has the Derby winner's curse of being weighted up to his best and the 17 draw is a slight concern, but I'll be disappointed if he doesn't look the winner at some stage.
