Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

See first horse out of Galileo/Makybe Diva ran yesterday at Geelong
RockStardom finished 4th in 1300 race.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Fabulist going around on the Thorough Track at Geelong again tomorrow (27th August). Drawn beautifully in 2 should again get the run of the race. Has improved since her last run and with luck should go close.

PRE Punters Club

Blood_17 slips Bullbars into a place

A place return has slipped Blood_17 into the Champions chair. Bullbars paid $2.50 giving us return of $12.50 and a profit of $2.50 which was enough to win last Saturday’s round of Champ v Challenger.

Hartbalme’s selection Secret Flyer had a huge number of pundits tipping it – with all their weight on its back the Flyer just had to concede ground in the straight.

Rosy - will add this coming weekends collect to the $2.50 of last weekend and remit to PRE Admin account next week........RT

This Saturday 28 August 2010 the champion and challenger are -

Champion = Blood_17
Challenger = RedSeaTiger

Blood_17 & RedSeaTiger – could you please post or PM me to show that you are ok to be the punters this weekend?

The rules are simple -

1) Each punting day (usually Saturday) there is a challenger and a champion
2) Both the challenger and the champion have $10 to bet - either win or place or eachway and/or allup.

E.G. Either –
$10 win horse A, or
$10 place horse A, or
$5 win horse A and $5 win horse B, or
$5 win horse A and $5 place horse B, or
$5 place horse A and $5 place horse B, or
$5 eachway horse A, or
For those who wish to dare it is OK to have
$5 win horse A allup a win horse B, and $5 place horse A allup a place horse B, or
$5 win horse A and $5 place horse A allup a place horse B

3) If you collect more than the $10 outlay and more than your opponent on the day you become the champion next week.

4) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punter(s) in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on the thoroughbred thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

5) All profits on your bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

6) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

7) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2010.

The list order of punters is

1. Bernie
2. Azzamoot - return $67.40 Club House Leader
3. B1
4. Tony Braxton-Hicks
5. Hartbalme
6. Blood_17 – Return $12.50 - Champion

Memsie Stakes!

http://materials.risa.com.au/PUBLISHING/DOWNLOADS/FREEFORM/RD2808CAUL_A.asp?racenum=06&StateDesc=VIC

Shoot Out has been ultra impressive in his two wins since his dominance in the AJC Derby. Has great gate speed and despite being on a Cups/Plate prep he was able to sit up on the pace in the Bletchingly and hold off some handy sprinters. Stathi slaughtered him in the Liston, he was no closer than 4 deep the trip and his final winning margin of a long head flattered the runner up Predatory Pricer. Always have to be wary of the August/September champs in the spring though.

Typhoon Tracy resumes after failing in the Donnie after being galloped on. Moody is adamant she has bigger fish to fry and isn't wound up at all. There's no speed and she will get a soft lead barring any change of tactics in an effort to educate her to settle better for the Cox Plate later on.

Whobegotyou also resumes after failing due to injury in the Stradbroke. WBGY is the barometer here. The closer he finishes, the more skeptical I am about the quality of the two favs. I was heartened by the fact that Heart of Dreams was gapped (2.5L) by Shoot Out and Predatory Pricer last time in the Liston. HoD and WBGY are a similar class of average and I hope WBGY is found to be similarly outclassed on Saturday.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good to hear from ya Gyps,

Cracking review as usual.

Shoot Out's flying, some query is can he still ping when still at 1400m. FWIW he struggles 3rd up as well.

Leysy's learnt to ignore Moody's talk over the years.

Fully expect Tracy to give them a lesson & will be backing accordingly.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Tempted to load up on Tracey figuring Leysy is overdue for a winner.

Love the spring carnival.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Tracy is definitely suited today, I'm just concerned about her overall quality against the males. Definitely the best mare in Aus, but she has to beat better horses than Dao Dao and Heart of Dreams today. She's almost joint fav with SO at the mo.

The tactics are going to be incredibly interesting. I would hope Stathi lobs outside the mare, softens her up and exposes her lack of race fitness... I agree 100% leysy, that his inability to ping could bring him undone, which is why he should be outside her. Stevie Arnold is notorious for being slowly away (he's terrified), and if the carnie can get So You Think out of the gates and possie him on speed it will make for a cracking affair.

Too many question marks for mine to invest with confidence in the Memsie. Here De Angels is screaming off the page in the sprint in race 5. The Set weights and penalties suits him incredibly, and he was a certainty beaten behind the best sprinter in the world* at the course in the Oakleigh plate. Slow going is apparently a query, but i don't reckon his opponents are much chop.

*I would contend that any premier Australian sprinter is more often than not, the best sprinter in the world.

Good luck to all PRenders.

Legitimate concern Gyps. From memoy last time it was first up in open class WBGY and one other beat it home. I guess it could be better now. Great race.

And Starpangledbanner is proving your last point.

Bugger me...Leysey's done it to me again.

Good race from the Big Four and did not really give us too much with the different stages of their preps and aims for the spring.
