Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I would love to be involved again.

Can't see a lot wrong with the existing format (if it ain't broke don't fix it!).

Thanks RT

Just saw this sorry mk. A tad late for giving tips. Do you know if OJ had any winners losers? :hihi
Unsure if Ossie had a runner sorry Rosy. Doubt if he would find the winning post.
Dennis Daffy horse was 2nd Miles Above and was a good 4th on Aussie Day. Nifty came 3rd.

Happy and honoured to go in pre punt again
Happy with any format Remote whatever best suits last year format worked well but would think any would, whatever gets the best $$$

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

There's a real horse race coming up again, people. The Lightning Stakes! It's not as good a field as it could've been if All Silent, Lucky Secret (who was surprisingly nominated despite his poor straight form) and Black Caviar had run... but still promises to be a cracker nevertheless.

I agree with sentiments regarding the ability of one P.Moody, who is finally exposing Freedman and Hayes (particularly the latter). Probably the best betting stable in town, Price and Smerdon his closest rivals in that regard.

Also, on Black Caviar... she was impressive, but suited at WFA, and while she did outclass Here De Angels, he is a dead-set proven B grader. Interesting to note the way her preparation is shaping... Moody dodged the Lightning with her, all his other sprinters bar Avenue are lining up in the Lightning... Early reports suggest that she will go to the fillies and mares 1400m G3 at Flemington next (the same race MK's T.Tracy won last year)... if that is the case, he really is making a concerted effort to keep her unbeaten record intact. Unlike T.Tracy at the same age, Black Caviar is battle hardened, which is why I don't get the prospect of a shielded preparation.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Hey there Gypsy Lad. Good to hear from ya mate.

Great to have your astute observations back big fella.

Leysy wouldn't read too much into Moody's talk on BC's plans for the autumn. She's entered for the massive Dubai carnival. Enough said on his opinion there in leysy's opinion.

& as you say they are a betting stable. & a good one. How much do you think they were laughing when she got rolled out from $1.35 to $1.70 on the strength of him potting her condition on Thursday radio & Friday's paper...

Massive chance him talking her up for such races as the Flem 1400 to keep her price for the Newmarket ILO.

Just on her, how about her size. She is an absolute tank. Did you see the size of her compared to Here de Angels when she dropped him like a cold at the turn on Friday. Like Nahas rucking against Sandilands. & one is a 3 y.o filly against a mature colt. Amazing.

In her, Denman, So You Think & maybe Starspangledbanner We have a some outstanding 3 y.o's that could take the average older nags to the cleaners whenever they meet ILO.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good to see you backing writin Gypsy, hope you have some tips for us and are involved in the pre punting.

Sad to see George Hanlon passed away yesterday. Melbourne Cup winning trainer of Arwon, Black Knight, Cox Plate winner Family of Man , Caulfield Cup winner Diatribe and Mr Prudent who was runner up to Media Puzzle in 2002 Melbourne Cup.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Yes it is MK.

He was training until an age where most of us would be very happy to get to.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

R.I.P. George. It took a great man to better your record at distance races.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Here, here, Rosy. Outstanding effort to keep training winners into his 90s.

Great to be back, boys.

My old man was saying the exact same thing regarding Moody's deflection regarding the hype, Leysy. Which would make sense given the man's obvious love for the punt. I did notice the incredible size difference between H.D.A and BC. Very unusual to see a filly monster a seasoned gelding like that. I'm just more inclined to be skeptical with the boom horses who still haven't done it in the big races and start favourite everywhere they go. I took Here De Angels one out in the quad that night :-[ I would hope that she goes to the William Reid from here.

I absolutely agree that those 3yos you mentioned are highly promising... And there are plenty of capable 3yos to keep them honest as well. Looms as a great Autumn. Was really impressed with So You Think's run in the Emirates. A really outstanding run sitting up on a fast pace and still looming the winner. We should remember that the great Hussler couldn't even manage to finish in the first half of the field in the Emirates as a 3yo. Starspangled Banner won every race that he possibly could've last prep, save for the run where Nikolic tried to teach him how to behave in the Guineas Prelude and he pulled his head off and was disappointed for a run. Spanked the bluebloods in the Guineas as well.

Who is everyone on tomorrow?

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Like Juggle the Books early (race 2) got $8.50 fixed odds. Ran 3rd in the Standish with 54.5 and drops to 51.5 if Maskiell can get down that low. Each way bet to nothing imo. Will watch Our Aqaleem with interest in race 4 ran 3rd in the English Derby and has never been out of a place. Not sure about 1600m but isn't harshly treated at the weights and if the track is playing fair may just blow them away. Big each way odds.

Think Burdekin Blues may be the one in the Lightning. Is one of the few true sprinters in the field, 7 tries at the distance for 5 wins, fairly impressive on Oaks Day over 1100 down the straight and was lucky enough to see his win on Magic Millions Day at the Gold Coast when he won very easily. Again each way all day.

Finish off with Tallow in the 7th. The 3yo filly form has been fairly even down here, was very good on MM day as well, 3rd to Graceful Anna. Drawn beautifully in 5 should get a nice run in transit. I have backed her at fixed odds $4.80 - in to under $4 now.

The last is a lottery - if track playing to swoopers (John Northey) Summer Sapphire at huge odds may be a chance.

Good punting

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Agree with you on Burdekin Blues Tiger44.

Looks an excellent each way bet.

Gyps, very true on going broke backing spruik horses. Think BC is one out of the box though.

On Sou you THink, Yes it was a massive run in the Emirates. Was entitled to fold well before it did. Hopefully he Denman, BC & some other imporvers can excite racing with the older ranks being the thinnest leysy can remember.

On today, will have an each way bet on Burdekin Blues & have a keen interest watching the rest of the program.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Also be interesting to look at Our Aqaleem in the next.

A former English Derby placegetter that hasnt raced for a few years now in the Hayes camp.

Wouldnt go as far as saying she's battle hardened, she's a lightly raced 3 y.o. but she races like a veteran
once shes up & running.

You may need to take another look at the times shes posted to date & add to that shes blundered the start
nearly every time.
Not many horses let alone fillies can break 1.10 down the 6 furlong straight after falling flat on their face & tearing
a chest muscle from the gates, only champions do that.

Time will tell if she is a true champ but my money is on her to do so.
On Moody shielding her, well, I'd be tipping her main goal is the Newmarket & going in unbeaten is the plan.
You've got to remember her value as a brood(very nice Dam line) is enormous already, should she take out the Newmarket then her value would be fair dinkum astronomical.

Do not let the name deter you.

That's funny. Mustn't have had a lot of faith when they named it. :hihi

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Terrible news for the sport of kings today with budding champ Black Caviar straining a ligament during trackwork this morning.

Definately out for the Autumn with a question mark on the spring according to Peter Moody.

Just when the badly sport needs some hero's to drag it along the most talented of them goes amiss.

BTW how well did her form stand up after she completely towelled Here de Angels who then came out & won its next start.

Hopefully she comes back in full health soon.
