Thoroughbred racing

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Some mates and I have bred a falvelon two year old which is due to debut new years eve at ipswich.

won his unofficial hitout over 900m by four lengths against maidens and other two year olds.

his debut is (Copacetic is his name by the way, fans of James Lee Burke novels with get it) over 800m and he has great early speed (like most falvelons) so should be a big show. It is QTIS 600 race which we paid up for even though he did not go through sales so with the bonus its is $16500 for first. Not bad for a ipswich midweek.

Bet sensibly guys as our syndicate is not the luckiest in theworld.

Two of our horses never made it to the track, another won its first two starts then died of colic on race day for a $50,000 event he was favourite for and the mother of copacetic was a three start maiden who refused to race even though she blistered on the training track. Her breeding was magnificent hence our decision to breed from her.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks for the comments in support folks. She ran her usual honest race, tries her heart out which is great to see. Copped a bit of interference at the top of the straight when both her and the eventual winner were going for the same run. She got pushed into the inside where the ground was inferior, the winner went to the outside and won the race. We protested and although the stewards conceded that we were disadvantaged decided not to give us the race. Still really pleased with her effort.

Hopefully off to Flemington on New Years Day for a 1400m 3yo fillies race.

Good luck Royce!

Fabulist got the sniffles last weekend and had to be treated, so no Flemington tomorrow. Off to MV next Friday night for a no metro win 1600m for 3yo fillies. Should be a certainty as I will be unable to attend, spending a week on the Gold Coast. Might even manage to get to a few sessions at the Magic Millions sales. Anyone have any orders, happy to bid for you!

Good punting eveyone

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Some of the posting on this thread is making laugh..."she's a good horse, she's got a big heart and she'll run all day...I dont think the 1500m will worry her too much".

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

My partner has a share in the syndicate that owns Ruby Slippers.
Finished 2nd in the first at Flemington on New Years Day. Was running on strong.
David Hayes trains her and the stable thinks she may be suited to longer races.
Good filly possibly with potential for the Oaks later in the year.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Hi, Me too, hope you will be at Sandown on Wednesday for Ruby Slippers next run. See Walking or Dancing had a win on the Gold Coast... I remember posts some time ago (sorry have been absent for a while)
Hope all you people can also join up with NewStar Racing Club, racing with a cause, check out the site. Hope this is not out of order.

Oops.
She's gonna be too old for the Oaks. Maybe the Cox Plate. But I may also be dreaming.

Good to be in the position to dream poppa. You've certainly got a better chance than I have of having a Cox Plate runner. Good luck with her.

Poppa, there is still the AJC Oaks, SA Oaks and Qld Oaks so still plenty of chances before she turns 4. Good luck with her.

Well good luck with her today at Sandown, Poppa X.

Mine, Navaho Trail will have his first run back from a spell at Moruya, NSW on Monday. Goes well first up and is now trained at that track and thriving.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Ruby Slippers ran 2nd last.
Well placed at the turn then tired badly. Not a good sign from a filly that's bred to stay.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Ruby Slippers, nothing apparently wrong. Will wait 24 hours, see how she eats, etc., just think with the Rubiton breed, they are late maturers, and the run at Flemington may have taken a lot more out of her than prev thought. Will go straight for a spell now, certainly more ups than downs with this filly, just forget she ran today.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Hello, no one interested in what I have said ? Is it because I am a "newby"... thanks for the welcome. Wot bother again.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Chillax dude. Its the off-season for horses & footy.

If you want winners on the punt pop over to the cricket thread. In abundance over there.

Not because your new, just your post did not really call for a response and not too many interested I think

I don't think that would be the case winmad. This thread is very active over footy season and the spring carnival but it pretty quiet at the moment. I, for one, would appreciate being kept in the loop in regard to Ruby Slippers. It's interesting to hear things from an "insider" point of view.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I'll give you one to laugh at, Skills. My selection for the Melbourne Cup is Bart Cummings' Precedence. ;D
