Thoroughbred racing

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

My 3yo filly is in at Sandown tomorrow, has drawn beautifully (for a change) in 3 in a field of 7. S Arnold up should ensure she has no excuses. Expect her to be in the finish, pity there is not 8 in the race as she would be an excellent each way bet. Will try not to sit on the fence - think she can win but won't be putting my house on her. (Fabulist is her name!)

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Did any one see Black Caviars race tonight?

This girl is something special, have been telling family, friends workmates any one who'll listen
that this girl might be the best horse Ive seen & she didnt let me down again.

She is an absolute monster of a filly & she sat outside Here de Angels under a hold and turning
for home said see ya's later.

Not bad for a 1st up run, I have no doubt she is a super star on the rise.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

She is a gun Uncle. No Question.

See Moody said to one pf the press. "Look at her arse, its the size of a bus" ha ha

BTW how is moodys team shaping. Good on the Queenslander. Taking Hayes & Freedman to the cleaners with a far smaller team

He doesnt get plaudits for what he's achieved/about to achieve from the media here.

Heck those two massive trainers mentioned above have maybe one horse each that would rank in Moodys top ten.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good luck T44. A little birdie who sends me his tips each week, (we won't name him but initials Blood17), has tipped Fabulist to win. He's a pretty dead-eye tipster so hope he's on the money in your race.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks for the good wishes folks. Always thought Blood 17 was a good judge! Fingers (and everything else) crossed.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Sorry T44 but I'm on as well. Doubt it can carry all the money on its back.

David Hayes excuse book is pretty impressive though. Reckon he'll run out of jockeys blaming them all for his slow horses.

Had a chuckle when I read that myself, she is a big girl & I dont think shes finished growing yet either.

Moody sure is the MAN atm & good on him too, he's getting the rewards for past efforts and now has a formidable stable at his disposal.
Can see him being the major player come spring time if his stars dont fall to injury.

Not much to say - no real excuses. Perfectly positioned in the run just couldn't muster enough speed at the end to overheaul the leaders. Stable thinking is that coming back from 1600m didn't help.

Next run back to 1600m at Moonee Valley on Friday night Feb 5. Is getting to be a bit of a money muncher so will try to refrain from declaring her ever again!

As with all owners I will get over the disappointment and think she will win her next start soon - always the optomist.

hope not too many invested too much.

On reflection the leaders had a good day T44 so may forgive I think.

As a poor owner filled with optimism despite the many setbacks i feel your pain T44.

Ditto.

Betfair has made racehorse ownership far more palatable. Anything less than 5-1 and I tend to lay mine a little.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Good days racing today kids.

The Blue Diamond predludes will give a good sight in the warmup to the Diamond.

Out & out Star Denman returns.

Time Matters will also give punters a great each way sight in Race 6. Hope so for leysy anyway.

Good luck to punters.

PRE PUNTERS CLUB 2010

The prestigious award for PRE PUNTER OF THE YEAR is up for grabs again. Are you good enough to take this award away from the reigning champion Rosy?

Hey - its almost footy season time again and that means we have to start applying our knowledge to the gallopers to help pay for PRE

This year I would like you to suggest the rules for -

1) Betting - remember

a. There is only $20 per week to bet with from AFL round 1 weekend through to the Eclipse Stakes Day at the end of the Melbourne Spring Carnival
b. History tells us we collect more on win and place than on exotics (All-up, Quinellas, Exactas, Trifectas, Quadrellas, Parlays) - but that doesn't mean we can't mix them together

2) Selecting who is in the chair for the week and how they can maintain the chair.

Rules that should remain the same -

1) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punter(s) in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on this thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

2) All profits on your bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

3) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

4) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2010.

Over to you - tell us what betting types we should allow and a good way to pick the punter to be in the chair...........RT

Any tip today Rosy for the Camperdown Cup today

Just saw this sorry mk. A tad late for giving tips. Do you know if OJ had any winners losers? :hihi

Thanks for running the Punters Club again Remote. It's extremely generous of you. The help towards PRE's running costs is greatly appreciated and the fun of following others' tips and selecting horses really enriches the PRE experience for a lot of us.

As for suggestions I'm happy to go with the flow. A couple of comments-

  • I wasn't fan of the fandangled exotics some used to put on. I'm not sure any of them ever paid and I don't understand them so couldn't enjoy following those tips on the day. No issues at all if others think that's the way to go just the same
  • Maybe people should nominate whether they wish to participate this year. Some new faces might like to join in and some who never really got into the spirit of things, wished others well and congratulated, or commiserated, with them mightn't enjoy it as much as they used to and like to step aside.
  • I really liked last year's format with the champion and the challenger each week. It added a bit of friendly rivalry. I liked meeting up with Dyer who seemed to land on the same week as me. I'd be happy to stick with it or maybe only modify slightly
  • Leysy has been spruiking his prowess as a tipster and advising us how rich his betting disciples are for following his suggestions. Maybe we can lay bets on how successful his Punters Club tips will be if he participates. :hihi
