Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I meant it as a term of endearment though Dyer. :hihi

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

What are the experts 8) opinion on Young Centaur for the Melbourne Cup. Heard his trainer speaking about him, seemed confident he would get a gig, think he may have already qualified by winning the Wellington Cup?
Cheers

PRE Punters Club

Extra Zero was only an inch away from winning the photo for first place. Rosy was clever enough to have the bet each way so we collected $13.70 which means Rosy is our carry over champion. Dyer'ere's Apache Cat bet was way back at the turn but flew home for a very impressive run just behind the place getters - Moonee Valley straight was just a tad short for the big Cat.

We need a new challenger

Champion in the red corner - Rosy
Challenger in the blue corner - Remote Tiger

This week it is the bonnie mare who is holding her age and form particularly well up against the old draught horse........

Rosy I will add this weeks winnings of $3.70 to our winnings on this coming Saturday and remit the total to you early next week.....RT

PRE PUNTER OF THE YEAR 2009

The 2009 rules are -

1) Each Saturday we will have two (2) tipsters - one will be considered the champion the other the challenger.

2) Both the Champion and the Challenger will have $10 each to bet with and are allowed only 1 or 2 horses each Saturday to bet on eg. $10 Win on a horse or $10 Place on a horse or $5 win on 2 horses or $5 place on 2 horses or $5 x $5 on 1 horse;

3) Should your total collect be more than the total collect of your tipster opponent on the day you become the champion and you will be challenged the following Saturday by the next tipster on the list. Should both the Champion and the Challenger not gain a collect the next 2 tipsters on the list will become the champion and challenger for the following Saturday. (with the tipster who is the next in order becoming the champion and the challenger being the tipster next after him/her)

4) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punters in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on this thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

5) All profits on your $10 bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

6) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

7) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2009.

The order of betting for 2009 is -

1. Blood17 - return $101.30 - Club House Leader
2. mk33 - return 0
3. Red Sea Tiger - return $65.30
4. jb03 - return $36.70
5. Tiger44 - Return $47.90
6. Scottyturnerscurse - return 0
7. the claw - return 0
8. Hartbalm - return 0
9. Leysy Days - return $19.50
10. jimbler - return 0
11. Rosy - return $49.57 - Champion
12. Dyer'ere - $10.70
13. Remote Tiger - return $52.40 - Challenger

Due to two tipsters betting each weekend (Champion and Challenger) we all should get more than two turns at tipping during the winter footy season and spring racing carnival.

IASbet.com provides for - a Superprice dividend guaranteed to be better than 2 of the three TABs and is generally better than all three or a fixed price or in some races Top Fluctuations. When you put your tips on PRE please advise which of the 3 betting types above you want (Superprice or Fixed Price or Top Fluctuation) Please note if betting for a place Superprice is the only option available. IT MAYBE THE DIFFERENCE IN YOU BECOMING NEXT WEEKS CHAMPION.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks Remote. I'll get a paper tomorrow to read the form guide and have my tip in before midday. Good luck to us both. ;D

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Dear Remote...Could I have $5ew on Chasm at Flemington please. Race 9 # 1. Happy with whichever bet type you choose.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Great day's racing today. Although, I reckon it could be a dangerous betting day. Nevertheless, gotta love the Turnbull, even if it has been a maggots race of late.

As usual the Turnbull looms as a potential joke, the last three winners have been Littorio, Devil Moon and Sphenomaggot. The set weights and penalties conditions must surely be the reason for these bizarre results.

There appears to be absolutely no speed. None. I would expect that Maldivian would get an incredibly soft lead, with Baughurst sitting outside him, Vigor box seating and Predatory Pricer one out one back. If, as expected, there is no speed, you would expect the winner to settle in the first four. But big Mal is coming off an unorthodox preparation and doesn't appreciate the big straight at Flemington, Baughurst is a maggot, Vigor is a maggot and Predatory Pricer got very upset and overraced last time at Flemington. I'd be interested to here if anyone has any conviction regarding the winner of this race... personally, i reckon that if i have a bet in this race it will wipe me out the same it did the last three years.

Interested to see how All Silent goes today... i reckon he's potentially the best horse in Australia, but was plagued by bad luck and wet tracks in the Autumn. I'm really hoping we can see the same bloke we did last spring as he looked absolutely awesome.

Speculating on roughies Imashadow (likely leader in slowly run affair and has defeated Gran Sasso up the straight), Pillar of Hercules (ran 4th in Rupert Clarke last year, finishing next to Turffontein, and has tongue tie on today, leading me to believe that he choked down last start).

Backed Hot Danish at 3.50... first time i've ever backed her. And I'm hoping Light Vision *smile* in as i backed him in the Caulfield Cup at 100-1 earlier in the spring.

Good luck all.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Alright lads - Another great days racing.

Lets see if leysy can keep the spring rolling -

Race 2 - Gunna have a little e/w on Arch Symbol at 12's. Fitter for two runs. Concerned at leaving out a leysy favourite in Larry's Never Late who's 3/3 1st up. But the blinkers are off for the first time so might not be quite as sharp as normal.

Race 4- Backing Wanted. Will likely park behind the leader. If he gets the split at the right time, it'll be goodnight Irene. Paprika the danger for leysy.

Race 5 - Heart of Dreams run was every bit as good as Whobegotyou last time. Drifting out to $4. Will have run of the race & take some rolling. Leysy'll be on.

Race 6 - The Toorak as usual is wide open. Its gunna need luck & a gun ride from gate 1. But if it does Rafaello will give them windburn. Worth a small wager cos it will be hang onto your hats time as they enter the straight as it looks to get a run.

Race 7 - Load up Load up Load up. Denman is a star. He will have this race put away at the 200m. It will be a clinic as he wins his 7th on end. The $2.90 is a gift from the gods. Look for him in Europe next year if they keep him racing.

Race 8 - Good race - Having something small on Shocking. Hissing Sid the danger.

Race 9 - Kav will have little Champagne Harmony at he peak for this 3rd back from a spell. Great chance.

Good luck all.

Blood_17 has the lot on the nose Melbourne Race 8 Number 15 Precedence at fixed price $8.50 (better than IAS SuperPrice)

mk33 has $5 each way Melbourne Race 4 Number 7 Morgan Dollar at IAS SuperPrice

Great days racing and when both of these salute the judge first we will be rolling in the doe rae me....................RT

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

OUCH!!

The punters copped it today & the bookies are eating the caviar.

Anyone have a piece of the quaddie at a leysy $95,000 or the pick 6 at a cool 1.7 Million. :shakehead

Spewing jumped off Starspangledbanner. Denman never had a shot with the run McEvoy gave him.

But the spring will go on. But its only Melbourne Bitter & sausages for leysy tonight. ;D
