Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE Punters Club

Not a smell of a collect last week - but thats the racing game hey - one week a rooster next week a feather duster - although I thought Stickpin tried very hard to pick up the tear-away leader. Well done RST and T44 good collects throughout the season and there is a chance you will get another go as we bet up until Eclipse Stakes Day.

So we need a new champion and a new challenger

Champion in the red corner - Scottyturnerscurse
Challenger in the blue corner - the claw

I reckon these two have been sitting back off the pace smokin' their pipes in the race for PRE Punter of the Year 2009 and are both about to unleash a devastating run down the outside - right underneath the roses to pick up the chocolates..............

PRE PUNTER OF THE YEAR 2009

The 2009 rules are -

1) Each Saturday we will have two (2) tipsters - one will be considered the champion the other the challenger.

2) Both the Champion and the Challenger will have $10 each to bet with and are allowed only 1 or 2 horses each Saturday to bet on eg. $10 Win on a horse or $10 Place on a horse or $5 win on 2 horses or $5 place on 2 horses or $5 x $5 on 1 horse;

3) Should your total collect be more than the total collect of your tipster opponent on the day you become the champion and you will be challenged the following Saturday by the next tipster on the list. Should both the Champion and the Challenger not gain a collect the next 2 tipsters on the list will become the champion and challenger for the following Saturday. (with the tipster who is the next in order becoming the champion and the challenger being the tipster next after him/her)

4) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punters in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on this thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

5) All profits on your $10 bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

6) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

7) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2009.

The order of betting for 2009 is -

1. Blood17 - return $101.30 - Club House Leader
2. mk33 - return 0
3. Red Sea Tiger - return $65.30
4. jb03 - return $36.70
5. Tiger44 - Return $47.90
6. Scottyturnerscurse - return 0 - Champion
7. the claw - return 0 - Challenger
8. Hartbalm - return 0
9. Leysy Days - return 0
10. jimbler - return 0
11. Rosy - return $35.87
12. Dyer'ere - $10.70
13. Remote Tiger - return $52.40

Due to two tipsters betting each weekend (Champion and Challenger) we all should get more than two turns at tipping during the winter footy season and spring racing carnival.

IASbet.com provides for - a Superprice dividend guaranteed to be better than 2 of the three TABs and is generally better than all three or a fixed price or in some races Top Fluctuations. When you put your tips on PRE please advise which of the 3 betting types above you want (Superprice or Fixed Price or Top Fluctuation) Please note if betting for a place Superprice is the only option available. IT MAYBE THE DIFFERENCE IN YOU BECOMING NEXT WEEKS CHAMPION.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

No posts or SMS's from the Champ (SCT) and the Challenger (Clawmiester) as yet - if you know their mobile numbers give 'em a call or send 'em an SMS.......RT

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I have no details Remote. Might be just as well to give it a miss and save our sheckles for next week considering it's so late.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Just a quick one to let you all know my filly Fabulist is running at Sandown today (Race 3 Number 10). Not sure about the slow track but should go ok, each way chance. ACNR

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks Blood. Thought she had every chance, good ride by Mertens. Think she had well and truly had enough last 100 metres. Think a spelll for 5 to 6 weeks and bring her back for summer - not sure she was over happy on the softish ground but no real excuses. If she grows a bit may mature into a handy galloper. Fingers crossed.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I thought she was a place chance in the early parts of the straight, but then figured she may not be enjoying the heavy track. It was good enough to count on her winning when the conditions suit. Good luck.

Races called off at Ballarat regarding the new whip rules, more to come on this subject.

Hawkesbury races off also.

Wow.

What I can't understand is, if whipping hurts the horse then the argument should be that it is banned altogether. The anti whip lobby can't argue logically that some whipping is ok.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

If the new padded whips do not hurt horses, then let's get back to normal and leave the jockeys' judgment to them.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Leysy loves horses that can sit on the pace & have a turn of foot.

Eagle Falls does just that. Can run time as well. Will brain them in race 5.

Straight out for leysy for the punters club.

Leysy will also be on Zarita today. You'll get rich backing quality mares at set weights against there own sex.

Good luck all.

PRE Punters Club

Todays winners are -

Leysy's
Melbourne Race 5 Number 5 Eagle Falls $10 Win = Top Fluctuation

Hartbalm (via SMS to me)
Sydney Race 5 Number 2 Fritz's Princess $5 Win = IAS Superprice
Melbourne Race 8 Number 12 Gallica $5 Win = IAS Superprice

A good spread of bets today with a real chance to bring home the chocolates..............RT

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Let the followers rejoice indeed Leysy.

Good day for Punters, took Eagles Falls into Whobegotcha into Zarita. Good run by Zarita, left it till the last bob of the head.

Couple that with Racing to Win and Danish Flyer in Sydney and the Scooper Household will be drinking from the keg of victory and eating the Pizza of the Gods watching the Crows flog the Pies.

Ok Lads, what else do we keep watching after today? Cats Whiskers will be one I follow and Mic Mac is a sprinter, nothing more.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Not being a punter is this competition just nominating which favourite to pick? Or is it to try and get a bit of an outsider to boost the winnings?

I am the first to bag leysy after he posts his numerous poor tips but you'll have to congratulate him here Tim, he was on the money.

Wasn't actually referring to Leysy but I noticed the backed horses were favourites so I was just asking the question, is it just to tip winners ( which is fine, just back the faves) or is it to try and back something a little more "outside" to boost winnings?

Genuine question.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Can't speak for anyone else but a short priced winner is better than a long priced loser.
