Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Talking of losers, I should be de-listed from this comp ..................

Shocking ride from J. Cassidy on Fritz's Princess. 4-wide the whole way in a 10 horse field.

G. Boss did everything right on Gallica from her wide barrier. Just gave nothing when he waved the padded whip at her.

Sorry team :'(

Leysy loves horses that can sit on the pace & have a turn of foot.

Eagle Falls does just that. Can run time as well. Will brain them in race 5.

Straight out for leysy for the punters club.

Leysy will also be on Zarita today. You'll get rich backing quality mares at set weights against there own sex.

Good luck all.

Leysy is an excellent judge, I will be sticking close to you this spring.

Not being a punter is this competition just nominating which favourite to pick? Or is it to try and get a bit of an outsider to boost the winnings?

From a personal point of view -

The objective is to beat your opponent on the day through gaining the largest collect - we have had 9/1 winners all the way down to even money winners.

Why are so many going the shorter prices is because a collect will keep you in the chair next week - rarely have we seen both tipster gain collects on the day - from memory it has only happened once.

From a PRE Punters Club point of view -

The objective is to get collects so we can pass the profits (big or small) onto PRE Admin to help with the costs of running PRE. Hence any collects over the 30 plus weeks we run the PRE Punters Club all add up to help pay those ever increasing costs of running a forum/web site.

Hope that answers your question.......and if you would like to join the PRE Punters Club you are most welcome as we have had a couple pull out over the journey this year.......cheers RT

Let the followers rejoice indeed Leysy.

Good day for Punters, took Eagles Falls into Whobegotcha into Zarita. Good run by Zarita, left it till the last bob of the head.

Couple that with Racing to Win and Danish Flyer in Sydney and the Scooper Household will be drinking from the keg of victory and eating the Pizza of the Gods watching the Crows flog the Pies.

Ok Lads, what else do we keep watching after today? Cats Whiskers will be one I follow and Mic Mac is a sprinter, nothing more.

Boom & Boom. A loverly $7 double to get the spring going for the followers.

Gives us all a nice kitty to start with.

Top work Scooper. Hopefully the spring keeps rolling for us.

Stick with Eagle Falls throughout. Has the ability to beat far better fields than that. The Salinger down the straight on cup week would be ideal.

My Emotion who won race 2 will also more than pay for its way through the spring.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thought Nicconi's demolition job in the McEwan warranted significant spruiking... everything about this bloke says superstar sprinter and i'm still spewing on the *smile* for going to the Guineas instead of the Newmarket... not even 6s in the Galaxy could ease the pain of 50s eachway in a race he would've won with a featherweight.

The Feehan was a farce... that maggot Singapore mare fell into third after plodding along in ridiculously slow time. About time they possied up on Whobegotyou... Kav's instructions are the reason he was out of the winners stall so long. Mic Mac was suited by the slow tempo, but was hopelessly outclassed by the fav... Rupert Clarke would be the go if he could back up IMO... but he hasn't accepted for that race. Perhaps he's being freshened for the Age Classic?

El Segundo's run was outstanding. Seems to have come back in great order. If the new kids on the block aren't much chop he'll hammer them in the Cox Plate... much like what FoO did to him a few years back...

Whobegotyou is backing up in the Underwood against the likes of Typhoon Tracey, Predatory Pricer, Vigor etc.

http://materials.risa.com.au/PUBLISHING/DOWNLOADS/FREEFORM/RD1909CAUL_A.asp?racenum=04&StateDesc=VIC

Looks like an absolute cracker.

Also, excellent work Leysy and Scooper. May the winners continue to flow and etc.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Top wrap as usual Gypsy lad.

Yeah Nicconi's run was a cracker. Hayes has him flying. You wont see the 50's again that you mention either. At least not at a spring trip.
The Manikato next you'd think.

On Mic Mac getting back in distance. Leysy's sure he heard somewhere that Eurell was even looking at the aforementioned Mankikato as well.

Also keep your eye out for any of the young Tassie apprenctice Jason Maskiell' rides whilst he's still getting the 3kgs off in town. He's already outriding most senior riders. Best youngun leysy's seen in these shores since Froggie Newitt. ;D

& Another top meet this week. Gotta love this time of year.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE Punters Club

Leysy Days slipped a lazy $19.50 collect into the kitty when Eagle Falls paid $1.95 top fluctuation. Hartbalm got a couple of jockeys whose rides were quite poor......

We need a new challenger

Champion in the red corner - Leysy Days
Challenger in the blue corner - jimbler

Early spring carnival is the time for the good collects - and we have two tipster up this week who know their stuff...............

Rosy - will add this weeks winnings to $9.50 from last week and remit to you early next week.......RT

PRE PUNTER OF THE YEAR 2009

The 2009 rules are -

1) Each Saturday we will have two (2) tipsters - one will be considered the champion the other the challenger.

2) Both the Champion and the Challenger will have $10 each to bet with and are allowed only 1 or 2 horses each Saturday to bet on eg. $10 Win on a horse or $10 Place on a horse or $5 win on 2 horses or $5 place on 2 horses or $5 x $5 on 1 horse;

3) Should your total collect be more than the total collect of your tipster opponent on the day you become the champion and you will be challenged the following Saturday by the next tipster on the list. Should both the Champion and the Challenger not gain a collect the next 2 tipsters on the list will become the champion and challenger for the following Saturday. (with the tipster who is the next in order becoming the champion and the challenger being the tipster next after him/her)

4) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punters in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on this thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

5) All profits on your $10 bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

6) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

7) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2009.

The order of betting for 2009 is -

1. Blood17 - return $101.30 - Club House Leader
2. mk33 - return 0
3. Red Sea Tiger - return $65.30
4. jb03 - return $36.70
5. Tiger44 - Return $47.90
6. Scottyturnerscurse - return 0
7. the claw - return 0
8. Hartbalm - return 0
9. Leysy Days - return $19.50 - Champion
10. jimbler - return 0 - Challenger
11. Rosy - return $35.87
12. Dyer'ere - $10.70
13. Remote Tiger - return $52.40

Due to two tipsters betting each weekend (Champion and Challenger) we all should get more than two turns at tipping during the winter footy season and spring racing carnival.

IASbet.com provides for - a Superprice dividend guaranteed to be better than 2 of the three TABs and is generally better than all three or a fixed price or in some races Top Fluctuations. When you put your tips on PRE please advise which of the 3 betting types above you want (Superprice or Fixed Price or Top Fluctuation) Please note if betting for a place Superprice is the only option available. IT MAYBE THE DIFFERENCE IN YOU BECOMING NEXT WEEKS CHAMPION.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Very good Underwood field tomorrow, read in the paper it has(or maybe 2nd most) prizemoney field in race in Australia

2 Melbourne Cup winners Efficient and Viewed
Cox Plate winner Maldivian
Caulfield Cup winner Master O'Reilly
Caulfield Gunieas winner WHOBEGOTYOU
AJC Derby winner Fiuminco
add Caulfield Cup favourite Vigor, C'Est La Guerre
Cox Plate contenders Zarita, Typhoon Tracy, Predatory Pricer, Heart of Dreams

Rupert Clarke looks good with the Guineas Preludes as well.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Pacino in Sydney should go very well.

Also like Midnight Mustang at value in Melbourne.

Edit - Forgot to include an emergency. Rosehill Race 2 #1 Funtantes.

Cheers

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Interesting days racing today. Plenty of wide open fields so to jag a couple of winners will ensure a profiable day.

Race 1 - Have some mail for the Price horse Tribunal. Has the gun apprentice Maskiell up. Small win bet for interest.

Race 2 - The gutsy little mare Romneya should have there measure with Maskiells 3kg claim. Win bet.

Race 3 - Fav First Command is scrathed. huxsenn will start fav. Will need luck as will get back from inside draw. Race to watch for leysy but will have an each way spec on the Tassie No 1 Conquering only if it gets to very silly odds. It will be warming up for the big mile handicaps coming up.

Race 4 - Look on.

Race 5 - Keen on Starspangledbanner each way at 6's. Will sit on pace around the 1400m at caulfield. In form & running time. Trusting could blow them away but wary of sydney siders 1st up at caulfield. Go the banner.

Race 6 - Poor field for a Group 1 but a great betting race. Keen on Rafaello at 5's.. Kavanagh has him flying. Could well round them up. Hopefully gets gypsy's fav M.Rodd back in the winners stall early after his break.

Race 7 - What a race. 14 individual grp 1 winners. If Nolen sends Typhoon Tracy to the front from out wide in barrier 16 she could well get her own way & pinch this. each way for leysy.

Race 8 - Keen on Neroli here. Consistent top notch mare who should have them covered. But make sure punters have a saver on Kavs mare Champagne Harmony. Tailed off 1st up but was reported to have swallowed tongue. The tongue tie goes on today. Dont be suprised to see massive improvement. Keep her onside.

Race 9 - One of leysy's old favs Baughurst gets to a suitable race at last. The fav Speed Gifted could blow them away. But will have a cheeky e/w on the old warhorse.

Not a day to go silly on unlike last week where a few were nailed on. But will be good to have a few each/way bets & have a look at how the spring looks like shaping.

For the punters club - $5 win Starspangledbanner & $5 win Rafaello.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE Punters Club

Bets are on @ the best rpices available @ time of placing bet:

Jimbler

Melbourne Race 9 Light Vision $5 win @ fixed price $9
Melbourne Race 9 Hissing Sid $5 win @ fixed price $11

Leysy Days

Melbourne Race 5 Starspangledbanner $5 win @ IAS Superprice
Melbourne Race 6 Rafaello $5 win @ IAS Superprice

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Baughurst is definitely over the odds but here's a little fact: Light Vision beats him EVERY TIME they race... and we're not talking 2-0... it's more like 5-0. Nevertheless i won't be leaving him out of the quaddie.

The How Now is the very interesting race on the card. It all depends on the speed... it appears that all the logical elects are likely to position worse than midfield. Could be a blow out on the cards here. Tempest Tost and Rapid Sensation are likely to sit next to each other in front with the potential from Jacqueline Rouge to attempt to cross them all, but IMO, more likely to take a sit.

I was very impressed with Tempest Tost's run in the Winter Stakes (G1) where she ran incredible time in front and stuck to her guns well for 4th. They ran 1.22.64 and came home in 36.25... if Tempest Tost isn't pressured by Rapid Sensation or Jacqueline Rouge she'll pinch it IMO.

The Underwood is an absolute rip snorter. Typhoon Tracy does look she could get a soft lead, Leysy... which would make her the one to beat.

Great to see someone else spruiking the star Pacino. ;D

PRE Punters Club

STREWTH talk about stiff! How many of our bets last week got held up or pushed wide when it counted - Light Vision and Starspangledbanner were particularly unlucky when blocked at vital stages of their races. Hissing Sid and Rafaello both came home that hard - had they not been held up for runs at the top of the straight they would have been in the photo for first. Thats racing!

Hey Rosy. Thank you. Good luck, Champ.

I backed a couple last week so lightning's chance tonight, I s'pose. Just on last week. Don;t you love it when there's a Whobegotyou going around in the spring. God. What an indictment of the Cox Plate field if that mongrel wins it. Non winner in welter company. Maggot. (And didn't Heart of Dreams rub that in?) Nyuk nyuk nyuk.

OK. I'll have Apache Cat straight out tonight please, RT. $7.50 ATM. Wrong price.

Happy punting, students.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I'd decided on my horse before I realised the track was so wet.  Has no wet form to gauge so fingers crossed Brad has some flippers in his kit bag.

Moonee Valley

Race 5, Horse 2,  Extra Zero - $5ew please Remote.  I'm happy with however you choose to place the bet.  Thank you.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE Punters Club

Bets tonight are -

Rosy

Moonee Valley Race 5 number 2 $5 x $5 Extra Zero @ IAS Superbet (IAS Superbet is currently paying almost double the fixed price)

Dyer'ere

Moonee Valley Race 6 number 1 Apache Cat $10 win @ Top Flunctuation (Fixed price was down to $5.50 and IAS Superprice was not much better so I have taken a punt on Top Fluctuation)

.......Cheers RT

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks Remote. Gee Brad almost got us over the line but the winner wanted it a tiny tad more. Just a bob of the head in it which seems to be the story of my life on here this year. Maybe I should just have place bets. :blah

Bad luck Dyer...Pity he didn't win but it was good to see the big pussy wind up towards the end just the same. A win won't be too far away hopefully.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

GG, Rosy.

And you called him the "big pussy"? I was calling him something like that after he was chanceless after 100m. LOL.
