Thoroughbred racing

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Couple of things to add -

One of Dermott Welds has been backed heavily to win the last tonight. We know how good he is at setting horse for a race.

& There is a superstar jumper called Master Minded running in the aforementioned Champion chase tonight.

Bookies Paddy Power reckon its that gooda thing they've already paid out on all ante-post bets. Hows that for a bookie ha ha.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Quite a coincidence you should post about the Cheltenham Jumps Carnival Leysy. Someone was only mentioning this to me the other day. Not sure I'd heard of it before, now twice in less than a week.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Preview for tonights racing on sky now Streak.

Its great stuff.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Just a question out of the blue....does anyone know who "The Shiek" is in our horseracing scene?

Most assuredly, there's a couple of big players about to hit the scene hard in the coming years I hear. He was one, the other has $800M to spend and already spent $300M. (Hint his one of the richest men in australia under 30 *wink*) :p

Serious players. My source is in tight with the Freadman brothers and worked in horseracing all their (long) life, says this "Shiek" is going to dominate horse racing in the future because he'll own so many horses. Throwing some serious money around, already bought out a old Inghams factory/grounds to convert into a massive facility or something along those lines.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Leysy will be on the Tasmanian star Conquering lead his rivals a merry dance.

He's one couragous nag this one. Each way bet to nothing if the tracks not too wet.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

It's a bit quiet around here lately. Does anyone have any special horses they're following? Any inside or outside tips? Any fortunes made, good luck stories or missed-by-that-much tales to tell?

I've had a formula for backing the dogs recently and have built my TAB account a little bit. No great fortune on each bet but the wins have added together ok.

I had, make that, thought I had a big win ( massive for me actually) of around $150 last week but am still waiting for it to be credited. My computer died after I thought I'd submitted the bet but it mustn't have gone through. :(

PRE PUNTERS CLUB 2009

All those interested please register your interest by posting on this thread. The date and time you register will determine your position on the list.

In an effort to see who really is the best Punter among us we have developed a champion and challenger match each Saturday for this years PRE Punters Club.

The objective is both the Champion and the Challenger will be given $10 to bet win and/or place on the Saturday racing and the one with the biggest collect becomes the Champion for the next Saturday and will be challenged by the next tipster on the list. (For week 1 the Champion will be the tipster who is number 1 on the list and the challenger will be number 2 on the list)

The match play event on each Saturday means that both Champion and Challenger have to have their tips in by 11.00am - should they both want the same horse(s) then the champion will be allowed that/those horse(s) and the challenger will have to pick another/other horse(s) to bet on.

Are you better than your club member mate - or is she/he better than you?

Jibes, heckling and sledging is highly recommended - but lets not get rude or really personal about it!

The 2009 rules are -

1) Each Saturday we will have two (2) tipsters - one will be considered the champion the other the challenger.

2) Both the Champion and the Challenger will have $10 each to bet with and are allowed only 1 or 2 horses each Saturday to bet on eg. $10 Win on a horse or $10 Place on a horse or $5 win on 2 horses or $5 place on 2 horses or $5 x $5 on 1 horse;

3) Should your total collect be more than the total collect of your tipster opponent on the day you become the champion and you will be challenged the following Saturday by the next tipster on the list. Should both the Champion and the Challenger not gain a collect the next 2 tipsters on the list will become the champion and challenger for the following Saturday. (with the tipster who is the next in order becoming the champion and the challenger being the tipster next after him/her)

4) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punters in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on this thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

5) All profits on your $10 bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

6) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com (gives a Superprice dividend guaranteed to be better than 2 of the three TABs and is generally better than all three) hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

7) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2009.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

My hand is up thanks Remote....I don't necessarily want to go first though.

Thanks for the opportunity to have the Punters Club again.  I was a bit disappointed last time when some just seemed to tip for their week and didn't actively follow, or congratulate or even heckle, other "team" members when it was their turn.  Could I suggest that only those who are williing to get into spirit of the Punters Club register to participate.   Maybe there are some who haven't participated in the past who might like to join in and have some fun too.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Remote, I'd be thrilled to have another chance to find some winners for the Punt Road Club. Please count me in.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

As a first time entrant, plus being in the spirit of supporting PRE achieve some possible windfall gains, I'd like to give this a crack with the old persuader too.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thanks Remote would love to be part of the action again. Not too sure about the sledging bit though - just happy to try to find a winner somewhere.
