Sounds good remote.

Any idea what they are setting Pompeii Ruler for? I just saw him at a barrier trial in Sydney this morning. I think he finished 3rd behind Hot Danish and Light Fantastic.

Edit - Just made a couple of calls. George Ryder next week.

PRE Punters Club

Guys and Gals apologies for not getting on with the list of tipsters and organising a Club punt for tomorrow - but got tied up with a couple of staff off crook - so I had to fill in plus do my own job.

I promise I will have the tipster list and a punt organised for next Saturday......cheers RT

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE PUNTERS CLUB

Thank you all for registering to be members of the PRE Punters Club and put yourself in the running for the title of

PRE PUNTER OF THE YEAR 2009 (someone has to take it off Rosy this year please.....)

The 2009 rules are -

1) Each Saturday we will have two (2) tipsters - one will be considered the champion the other the challenger.

2) Both the Champion and the Challenger will have $10 each to bet with and are allowed only 1 or 2 horses each Saturday to bet on eg. $10 Win on a horse or $10 Place on a horse or $5 win on 2 horses or $5 place on 2 horses or $5 x $5 on 1 horse;

3) Should your total collect be more than the total collect of your tipster opponent on the day you become the champion and you will be challenged the following Saturday by the next tipster on the list. Should both the Champion and the Challenger not gain a collect the next 2 tipsters on the list will become the champion and challenger for the following Saturday. (with the tipster who is the next in order becoming the champion and the challenger being the tipster next after him/her)

4) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punters in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on this thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

5) All profits on your $10 bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

6) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

7) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2009.

The order of betting for 2009 is -

1. Blood17 - Champion
2. mk33 - Challenger
3. Red Sea Tiger
4. jb03
5. Tiger44
6. Scottyturnerscurse
7. the claw
8. Hartbalm
9. Leysy Days
10. jimbler
11. Rosy
12. Remote Tiger

Due to two tipsters betting each weekend (Champion and Challenger) we all should get more than two turns at tipping during the winter footy season and spring racing carnival.

For this Saturday we have as

Champion in the red corner - Blood17
Challenger in the blue corner - mk33

IASbet.com provides for - a Superprice dividend guaranteed to be better than 2 of the three TABs and is generally better than all three or a fixed price or in some races Top Fluctuations. When you put your tips on PRE please advise which of the 3 betting types above you want (Superprice or Fixed Price or Top Fluctuation) Please note if betting for a place Superprice is the only option available. IT MAYBE THE DIFFERENCE IN YOU BECOMING NEXT WEEKS CHAMPION.

Please guys have your selection(s) into me by 11.00am Saturday and may the best man win!

Footnote: I don't know who will start favourite to win this weeks round - the champion is a renowned tipster of excellent pedigree - the challenger has a sharp eye for a winner and is amassing an excellent reputation.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

As a well-known tipster (?) but one who has never taken up betting, can you explain the terms Superprice etc to me, please Remote? For instance, if I give one horse for a win on Saturday, would the $10 go on as Superprice? I know nothing at all about this subject. Call me dense!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Great work RT, very generous of you to be doing this for PRE. Hope we make a packet !

I'll see if can help with this one, so please correct/adjust as needed.

Superprice is basically a Corporate Bookmakers option based upon giving you the best of 2 of the state base totes (ie. SuperTAB in Vic, RaceTAB in NSW or UniTAB in QLD).

I have a Sportsbet account so the language is slightly different. The offer what is called Country Best price for race meetings other than on Saturday's main race day (ie. non metropolitan meetings). That is then the best tote price for either SuperTAB or RaceTAB.

They also offer a City Best price for city race meetings which is the best price of all the 3 totes mentioned.

So, in the case of a City Best price option, if say your winner pays $15.40 SuperTAB, $17.60 RaceTAB and $11.95 UniTAB. You will be paid the best tote which would be the $17.60 from RaceTAB.

Now, the other options you can nominate are Fixed Price and Top Fluctuation.

Fixed price is generally reserved by most online bookmakers for the bigger, listed feature races. These are generally made available to see on their websites for those races (eg. the Slipper and the BMW both have Fixed price odds already displayed). On race day, in between races the bookies set a fixed price option, so if you take that thius stays fixed regardless of how it moves after that point or what the totes pay (just like the at the track).

Top Fluctuation is based upon the highest fixed price odds declared between races. If a horse say opens at $25/1 and drops to $15/1 and then blows back out to $30/1 before they jump, the Top Fluctuation would be the $30/1.

It's generally simplest to nominate the Superprice (or City Best type) option. However, you can often find the fixed price fluctuations are better than what the totes eventually pay when they jump. All makes for part of the fun.

...................... Phew .................take a breath ............ hope that's close to the money !

PS. If we can get a few big odds like used above, woo hoo ;D

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

That sums it up pretty well.

Blood_17 in fact all PRE Punters Club Members if you wish to compare the Superprice to the Fixed Price during Saturday morning prior to posting your selection(s) then go to

http://www.iasbet.com/default.aspx

and select on the left hand side Australian & NZ Horses - then follow your nose to the race for which you wish to analyse the prices.

I haven't heard from the Challenger - mk33 - if anybody knows his mobile phone number please SMS him the news that he is in the ring against Blood_17 this Saturday....Thanks......RT

Thanks Rosy. If he doesn't win, I'll be the Villain of the piece!

This makes it interesting Remote as my winner needs to beat Bloods in the challenge.
Was going to go Hot Danish as a safe option but see its $2.80
I will go r3n4 Allez Wonder at superprice $10 a win

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Tough day ahead for leysy. Will have to lose on Light Fantastic and Pompeii Ruler in the same race.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

The Champ and The Challenger bets are on.................we want Allez Wonder to be the villain in Race 3 Sydney and Villain to be the wonder in Race 7 Melbourne.....

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Onya Brad...my boy sinked the Slipper in. :hihi

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Bad luck PRE tipsters. I was too engrossed with the footy to see the races and how the horses went.

Phelan Ready wins $3.5m Golden Slipper

Ray Thomas

April 04, 2009 12:00am

As he lay prone on the floor nursing a knee injury, Brad Rawiller cursed himself. His dream of winning a Golden Slipper looked over.

It was Thursday morning, two days before the big race when the heavyweight jockey was running on the treadmill, trying to keep his weight down, and suddenly tripped and fell.

"My knee struck the side of the treadmill and just buckled underneath me,'' Rawiller said.

"I was flung two metres behind the machine and straight away I thought I was in big trouble.

"I was worried I had done a cruciate ligament in my right knee. I'm a Richmond supporter and I felt like Matthew Richardson the day he did his knee.''

Congrats to Brad. :clap

I was a little disappointed that Big Bruce forgot (I assume forgot) to thank him/congratulate/even mention him in his acceptance speech. He must have had other things on his mind i.e. where is the closest buffet IMHO
