Interesting. Reckon they will keep the prize money.

Doubt it. Sure, perhaps not their fault but still unfair on C'est Le Guerre and everyone down to Ice Chariot. Might have the absurd scenario of Racing Vic taking the cash off them, then being sued by Bauer's connections to get it back.

Oh, I also see I missed my turn in the PRE Punters Club. Probably best, an average spring saved only by going long on Obama.

PRE PUNTERS CLUB

Tiger44 selection was ridden upside down and just couldn't finish off the race - not to worry T44 you kicked the can the previous week and I am sure you will be back bigger and better next season

Sorry scottyturnerscurse - I tried to raise you when it was your turn but nobody had your mobile number - hope this doesn't mean you won't be back next year.......

Next in the chair is arguably the last real chance of stopping Rosy from gaining back-to-back PRE Punter of the Year Awards - the Gypsy will pull something special out of his bandana this week for sure......

The member order of punting is -
1 Blood17 - return $41.30
2 Dyer'ere - return $28
3 The Claw - return 0
4 Rosy23 - return $129.50 - Club House Leader
5 jb03 - return 0
6 Leysy Days - return 0
7 Coughlan24 - return 0
8 Mainlandy - return 0
9 Hartbalme - return $34
10 mk33 - return $105.36
11 scottyturnerscurse - return 0
12 Tiger44 - return $46
13 Gypsy Jazz - return $53.50 - In the chair
14 Remote Tiger - return 0

The 2008 rules are -
1) $20 per week to bet on 1 horse or 2 horses in the following combinations;
1 Horse selected only;
$20 straight out for a win or,
$10 win x $10 place or,
$5 win x $15 place.
2 Horses selected
$10 win on both or,
$5 win and $5 place on both or,
$10 win on one horse and $5 win and $5 place on the other.

2) Should your bets collect more than $30 (meaning a win of $10+) you survive to bet - the next week for the club.

3) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punter in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on this thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

4) All profits (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE This year I challenge you to out do last years great effort and really give the PRE bank account a kick along

5) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com (gives a Superprice dividend guaranteed to be better than 2 of the three TABs and is generally better than all three) hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

6) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2008.

Come on Gypsy, I am jumping on your bandwagon.

Give us the good oil old mate.

Thanks, RR.

Caulfield

$5 each way, Race 6 #11 Tears n Triumph

Very smart off season horse, who is a course winner when smashing Danzylum this time last year at 33s. :happy. The Danzylum form is impeccable, with horses such as Silky Smooth, La Rocket, Kings Farewell etc... preforming very well since meeting him. This bloke was a cracking run behind Rightfully Yours first up during the carnival when 5th and rattling late. Loving the minimum on him against a strong summer field. Will be overs, but needs a strong tempo.

$10 win, Race 8 # 3 Immortality

Doesn't measure up to elite sprinting company, but the rest of this field wouldn't have a clue what a Goodwood Hcp runner looks like. 1100 metre specialist and course winner who is pitched in at the weights. Destroyed Message Bank this time last year at the course, and I'm inclined to think that Message Bank wouldn't have any trouble jagging second in this.

Good luck punters.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE Punters Club Bets are on........

Tears n Triumph as the Immortality of victory fill our bank accounts.............................They are getting worse but it is the end of the year.............almost!

Didn't see the run... was playing cricket. Hope you had him each way, RR.

Missed the quaddie on the first leg... had 2nd, 3rd and 4th over the line... spewing.

Hope the PREnders had a good day on the punt. Niconero shitting in really stung.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Thought you would have been a moral to back Niconero Gyps.

Leysy had a rare off-season bet on him today, only the 2nd time leysy's ever backed the horse. The other was in this race two years ago. ;D He loves it over there doesn't he.

jb backed it as well. A rare win all round. Great run two weeks ago and Marasco franked the form against the springers last week. I was off it in Melb in the Spring but really looked a good thing today.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Smashed Better Loosen Up's record as well.

He should've won the Railway. He should've run 3rd or 2nd in the Emirates. B.Rawiller, a major issue on both occasions.

I accidentally misdirected a spray at S.Arnold rather than B.Rawiller for a ride on Ortensia in the spring... a filly which subsequently pissed in the start after when Rawiller was sacked and the filly was ridden from the front.

Lost a lot of money on Niconero in the Emirates. Lost a little more in the Railway. Both times at big prices. Had nothing on him in the Kingston Town. $5 was too short and I just don't go 3 times in a row on a horse.

RE: As for the punter's club...

I was happy to back B.Park on Tears n' Triumph. A far superior rider to B.Rawiller.

Good on you blokes for backing him though. Leysy's strike rate on the horse is far better than mine... I'd be about 12.5%. Thankfully he used to run a drum for me. Not anymore.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE PUNTERS CLUB

The only person between Rosy and her back-to-back PRE Punter of the Year Awards is me. (Start getting dressed for the award Rosy - on my track record you are a shoe in)

Bet for today is

Flemington Race 5 Number 10 Tan Tat Jet $5 win $15 place.

I know I know betting on a straight six race on a wet track - christian name MUG surname PUNTER..........Lets hope Moody has him primed and Lukie baby rides a beaut race..........

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE Punters Club

ROSY does it again

The 2008 PRE Punter of the Year is Rosy23 - giving her back-to-back awards as she was also successful in leading the pack home in 2007.

Time for us so called race horse follows to bow to the only filly in the race who beat us by many lengths.

The question on everybody's lips is - can Rosy do a Makybe Diva and win three in a row............................

2008 Order of Merit -
1 Rosy23 - return $129.50 - PRE Punter of the Year
2 mk33 - return $105.36
3 Gypsy Jazz - return $53.50
4 Tiger44 - return $46
5 Blood17 - return $41.30
6 Hartbalme - return $34
7 Dyer'ere - return $28
8 Leysy Days - return 0
8 jb03 - return 0
8 Coughlan24 - return 0
8 Mainlandy - return 0
8 scottyturnerscurse - return 0
8 The Claw - return 0
8 Remote Tiger - return 0

The punters club did not contribute to the admin of PRE this year as much as it has in past years. But we did kick the can and there is always next year...........RT

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

More like an old grey mare than a filly these days Remote. :hihi

Thank you very much for your generosity again this season, and for the money towards our hosting costs that's been deposited in the PRE bank acct over the years. It's greatly appreciated. I've really enjoyed the Punters Club and following our tipster's selections each week. Good fun. :)

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Too good for a field of mixed class, Rosy. Mighty effort to go back to back.

The Punters Club is a great initiative, RT. Top stuff, mate. Thanks for putting it on.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Only 20 minutes until hopefully the Big grey puts his recent troubles behind him.

Leysy will be backing & doing the Light Fantastic if he does. Go big fella.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Well, wasnt quite to be. Just couldnt ping off the turn like the leader. Excellent excellent run though & showed he is over ulcers, not staying or whatever the reason for his two spring failures.

Trainers, connections & followers would be wrapped for the upcoming campaign.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

The leader had the race put on for him... Very slow tempo. Excellent effort by Light Fantastic to get as close as he did. Had the race been run at a genuine tempo, Light Fantastic would've won comfortably. Apparently the Newmarket is on the cards. Interesting to see what weight he gets.

Massive run by El Segundo... great comeback. Hopefully he can stay sound. Interesting to see where he goes from here.

Weekend Hussler v Apache Cat next Saturday in the Lightning. Can't wait.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

very quiet leadup to the lightning on here today.

Leysy's never been a Hussler backer, mainly due to the price. Cant believe the odds he's getting out to today.
Might get close to 6/4 the way its going. Clearly a better sprinter than these. The Cat has lost a bot of ping & more a 1400 metre horse these days ILO.

Leysy's also gunna take the Mick Price advice & back the noted milk drinker Schilling. Been gelded & changed its whole attitude around from all reports. Can do wonders for a horse when it loses its aggards.
