Gunna be hard to give good horses weight. (i.e Littorio) over a distance he hasnt run over leysy reckons scoop.
Its by far his biggest test in a race.

But as you say, he's been written off so might get out to silly odds if you like him.

As for pubs, leysy's a fan of the Orrong on High St Prahran. Good grub & the coldest beer leysy's drank in melbourne.

The Hussler isn't even 4 and he is topweight in the Caulfield Cup. On the plus side he has been set for this race, and is 100% trying to win it... and many horses in the Caulfield Cup aren't... no point in copping a penalty for the big prize!

I just think at this stage Littorio is an unbelievable each way bet. Placed in both his derbys, has very little weight, destroyed them in the turnbull and was incredbily impressive in WFA events over unsuitable distances. Looks a real comer.

I hope the Hussler wins, and I'll have a small quad with him anchored. But I'll probably back Littorio.

Sold me. I'll back Littorio. And maybe a saver on Duoro Valley.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Gyps, if you fancy Littorio www.luxbet.com.au have a special, if you open an acct with them b4 sat they're giving $10 the win on Littorio in the CC. Max $50

Leysy's tempted to have a nibble.

Bugger. Like the sound of that but I used their Whobegotyou special they had last week.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

heres the fields for sat. -

Just on prices, how would the PRE punters price up the 9th, the sprint.

Leysy was prob gunna anchor Sunburnt Lad in his quaddie. The form around his 1st up win (Sea Battle) is very strong. In well at the weights & prime draw. Looks nailed on.

Leysy was expecting no more than $3. First markets are at $3.80. Think they might have it wrong.
Leysy's considering an early lash. Should he?

JB's dog, cat, uncle, auntie & mrs got an acct there yet. ;D

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

www.tab.com.au

There the only ones with markets out on thursdays so far as leysy knows.

They've been known to set the market incorrectly. Especially this spring.

Grand Duels ($8 if you can believe that) is entitled to be favourite. Just dosen't quite get the 1200 IMO. Weighted very well against these and should win. Perhaps Sunburnt Land is a comer... but Sea Battle is no world beater at 1200 and actually gave Sunburnt Lad weight last time.

Grand Duels has been placed in the Newmarket (G1), narrowly beaten in the Bobbie Lewis (G2) and the Gilgai (G2). So he's a proven top class sprinter, albeit suspect on a bend. Looks a very safe investment to me.

My family (full of diseased gamblers such as myself) have been weighting for the Paul Perry galloper Biscayne Bay to head south at the massive price. He has beaten group 1 performers Magnus, Shadoways and Bentley Biscuit AT THE COURSE in the exact same race. He has beaten Apache Cat up the Flemington straight. Make no mistakes... this bloke is an absolute rogue and is only just starting to put it together mentally. Massive price.

I will back both Grand Duels and Bentley Biscuit each way.

He should. 4.40 on Betstar.

PRE PUNTERS CLUB

Hartbalme like all our middle order batsmen was left lamenting by two unplayable deliveries from the Spring Carnival Races. On paper both his selections looked far better than their eventual runs. Not-to-worry Hartbalme - like all tough Tigers we know you will back to saddle up next year.

It is becoming a tough spring for the PRE Punters Club and a change of fortune is badly needed. MK33 is just the tipster to provide this and take us into the heart of the spring carnival with renewed confidence.

The member order of punting is -
1 Blood17 - return $41.30
2 Dyer'ere - return $28
3 The Claw - return 0
4 Rosy23 - return $129.50 - Club House Leader
5 jb03 - return 0
6 Leysy Days - return 0
7 Coughlan24 - return 0
8 Mainlandy - return 0
9 Hartbalme - return $34
10 mk33 - return 0 - In the chair
11 scottyturnerscurse - return 0
12 Tiger44 - return 0
13 Gypsy Jazz - return $53.50
14 Remote Tiger - return 0

The 2008 rules are -
1) $20 per week to bet on 1 horse or 2 horses in the following combinations;
1 Horse selected only;
$20 straight out for a win or,
$10 win x $10 place or,
$5 win x $15 place.
2 Horses selected
$10 win on both or,
$5 win and $5 place on both or,
$10 win on one horse and $5 win and $5 place on the other.

2) Should your bets collect more than $30 (meaning a win of $10+) you survive to bet - the next week for the club.

3) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punter in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on this thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

4) All profits (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE This year I challenge you to out do last years great effort and really give the PRE bank account a kick along

5) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com (gives a Superprice dividend guaranteed to be better than 2 of the three TABs and is generally better than all three) hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

6) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2008.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Off the Huss. Dolphin Jo follows the same form line as last years winner and is doing it againist slighlty better fields.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Perhaps MK will trust in Nifty to get Miles Above over the line.

Will probably be one of your gear change selections eh, RT? Blinkers on IRC and price assessors think it will start 20-1.

Agree, SCOOP. Will have a little something on him. The rider (Ms C Lindop, who actually appears to be riding well) is the only thing preventing me from having a bit of a flutter. I do think he's a genuine 2 miler and won't be suited in a Caulfield Cup where he will probably lack the brilliance. But he has no weight (drops 3 kgs on his last start win) and has been impressive in the Bart Cummings (*smile*ing spewing he didn't win that instead as i was on him) and in the Winning Edge where he scored running away. Entitled to be shorter in the markets and can make a compelling case for a spec. Really like him for the Meblourne Cup if he can sneak a run. We are due for a Melbourne Cup that's truly run.

Just keep coming back to Littorio though, who has 1kg more, a far superior rider in S.King, has been on a WFA preparation AND is a non-winner who found the line.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Caulfield Cup i'll put it into three sections win place and no hope.

Win
Master O'Reilly
Littorio
Douro Valley
Boundless

Place
Zagreb
Guillotine
Red Ruler
Nom De Jeu
All the Good
Mad Rush
Dolphin Jo

No Hope
Weekend Hussler
Maldivian (1st beaten)
Barbaricus
Riva San
Viewed
Ice Chariot
Fiumicino

Good luck to all if i'd have to pick one Master O'Reilly for mine back to back.
