Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Selection panel doing a good job of not quite giving Rawlings enough to work with to manufacture a win.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

the last two weeks have been scripted perfectly

thank you AT well said.
the other thing is woorsfold in league with his entire footy dept and board are playing heaps of kids they have been throwing them in since 06. wallace well even when he played em he stuffed em. played out of position given little game time and usually sent packing after their cameos. one thing worsfold has always done tha is play kids. i dont rate him as a coach but they have been good at promoting their youth.

no worries, like u said worsfold has the runs on the board and plays the kids, develops them where as wallace did the opposite...

Ahh a good honourable loss, kids getting game time, really happy with vickery and post today and rance too with 6 hard tackles...

Still on target for a top 3 pic and PP...winners all round

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Why haven't we fallen behind Freo on % yet? ;D

Was just gonna post the same thing. I reckon we're tanking to perfection. Both weeks we could've just about won but chose not to. ;) Plenty of game time for the young 'uns. Gave the opposition a headstart and then game home hard, only to fall short. Oh dear - another loss.

worded perfectly freezer, i agree that we were in it in both games but both games we walked away with honourable losses, blues fans questioning some of thier key backs being outmarked by richmonds young talls (vickery, post and Riewoldt).

We are giving our youngsters plenty of game time and it must continue, hughes id play next week with his 4 goals today lets see if he replicate that or show something before the years out, he is on my trade table but we need to see if he can offer something prior to the season finishing....also thompson id have a look at too for a few games before the season ends...

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Draft picks are much more important than wins from now to the end of the season. What we should be hoping for is Melbourne win another 2 games to loose the early priority pick which will leave us with pick 2 so that we could draft " The Big Butcher".

my word structures, i mean id luv to see it but i just cant see melbourne giving up 2 pics within the top 5....it would be a pipe dream to see melb win 2 more games and give up their PP, richmond to finish last and pick Scully at No 1....Please let it be....Scully being the hot prospect for No 1 and a richmond supporter too...

well i wrote the below a few pages back and it is going to be really interesting over the coming weeks with Freo, Rich and Melb all on 3 wins and North and West Coast on 4 wins...these are the games between these 5 teams in the coming weeks....

WC still got to play Freo, North and Richmond 1 win their for sure which will remove their priority pic within the top 5...
Like to see west coast win at least 1 game, thus giving up their PP in the top 5.

Freo still got to play WC and Melb, plus port and ess at Subi, i fear them more not winning 5 games (they need 2 more) to not have a PP at the start of the 2nd round...
Hope for freo to win 2 more games, it will come from either WC, Melb, Port and ess at Subi.

North still have to play rich, melb and WC, think 1 win at least is on the cards there to have them with no PP...
yep one more win think that will happen for sure...

Richmond still play the below, hopefully only 1 win there and we still get our PP and pretty sure then to get 3 pics within the top 20.

RD 15 - Blues - Lose
RD 16 - Roos - 50/50
RD 17 - Bombers - Lose
RD 18 - Dees - 50/50
RD 19 - Swans - Lose
RD 20 - Pies - Lose
RD 21 - Hawks - Lose
RD 22- Eagles - Lose (eagles wont lose against the Cuz on there home turf, last round) but if they still happen to be inline for a PP (persoanlly i dont think they will) but if they're they wont win as they would give up a PP in the top 5...

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

yesterday we were coming home with a rush and then with a couple of mins to go, there was a centre bounce after a tigers goal and lo and behold, our 2 best clearance players - Tucky and Cuz - were on the bench. Perfect. Love it.

Unfortunately Freo is doing extraordinary things to ensure their % is worse than ours.... what WAS that, shockers?

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Notwithstanding the view that development is extremely important, the consensus seens to be that tanking is pretty much a no brainer for us at the moment.....If thats the case, and I accept that realistically it has to be...what incentive can there be for Tiges supporters to attend the remaining games? I'm not suggesting people don't go...but rather...how do you get enthused about your side when you know its better to lose than win? Is it a matter of just going along to see the progress of the young blokes? What is it you look for if not a win? I'm not being ironic here...I'd really like to know...as, for various reasons I haven't managed to get to a game yet this year but am a chance to get to one or two games in the next few weeks.....

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

67 Spec the idea for games going forward as a spectator is to isolate players that you are interested in watching so you can follow their progress.

For example next week watch Vickery and Post if you can in isolation and ignore King when he kicks across goals or Newman doesn't follow an opponent or Tuck throws the ball over his head to the opposition.

It will ease the burden.

as far the future of the RFC goes the last two weeks have been as good as wins if not better.

Tambling Lids Cotch Post Vickery have all shown glimpses of being A grade footballers

It is very exciting to watch

The fact that we have come so close to two final 8 teams has been very encouraging with a team of kids. Hopefully it will continue

What PP?

Don't you need less than 4.5 wins for 2 years running?

Get a pp before the start of the second round Mr P if you win less than 5 games in one year. If you do it for two consecutive years you get it before the start of the first round.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Seems to be alot of tanking going on last couple of weeks. Both North and West Coast both in commanding positions and let it go to lose. Melbourne, was surprised they kicked on this week, but they did have another game or so in hand, but last week they were also in a commanding position late in the match to finally let it go. Seems to me that all 5 teams still under 5 wins are hell bent on losing to gain their priority picks. If it comes to the last game Tigers and West Coast both with 4 wins, its gonna be a doozie of a game because West Coast especially will be giving up one of two picks in the top 5 if they win that match.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Currently:
North & West Coast - 4 wins
Richmond, Freo & Melbourne - 3 wins

By my hasty reckoning, this is what clubs stand to get if they finish with <=16 points:
North, Freo & Richmond - pick between 1-7, pick between 17-21, pick between 18-26
West Coast & Melbourne - pick 1-2, pick 2-6, pick 18-25

Upcoming games:
R16 Ri v NM
R17 Fr v WC
R18 Me v Ri
R19 NM v Me
R20 WC v NM
R20 Me v Fr
R22 WC v Ri

i.e. 2 winnable games for Freo and 3 for each of the others.

They don't all fit. At least two clubs will not get a PP. We can always miss the plane in R22.  :p

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Can someone clarify somthing for me. Ithought the priority pick was given in the 2nd round - not the 1st round. i'm sure this changed a couple of years ago??

A club with no more than 16 premiership points gets a PP before the second round.

A club with no more than 16 premiership points in two consecutive years gets a PP before the first round, i.e. West Coast & Melbourne are eligible this year.
