at this stage of the game....stuff the wins get the picks....

well a good effort by the boys, we werent disgraced and we're still in line for good early draft pics, great to see melbourne win, sheez winners all round...

Keep playing the kids Jade and they'll have more join them at this coming draft, lets load up with as many kids as possible before GC and WC clean up.

Think you will get your wish about Rawlings keeping the younger guys in. ;)

Rawlings praises young guns

RICHMOND coach Jade Rawlings has vowed to stick with his young guns after the Tigers 17- point loss to Adelaide at Gold Coast Stadium on Saturday night.

Rawlings was delighted with the way his side came back from 46 points down in the early stages of the final quarter to challenge for victory against a quality opposition.

He says the young brigade is doing everything being asked of it and will continue to be rewarded for good form.

"Our young guys were terrific so why would we change it?" Rawlings asked.

Good on him. He really is a breath of fresh air after Wallet.

Melbourne play Richmond, Fremantle and North. We all have to ensure Melbourne get those 5 wins and we have to let West Coast win the last game against us. The bottom place fight is getting as exciting as the top.

goody forget about melbourne winning 3 more games it wont happen they're not that stupid to give up pics 1 and 2...

WC still got to play Freo, North and Richmond 1 win their for sure which will remove their priority pic within the top 5...

Freo still got to play WC and Melb, plus port and ess at Subi, i fear them more not winning 5 games (they need 2 more) to not have a PP at the start of the 2nd round...

North still have to play rich, melb and WC, think 1 win at least is on the cards there to have them with no PP...

Richmond still play the below, hopefully only 1 win there and we still get our PP and pretty sure then to get 3 pics within the top 20.

RD 15 - Blues - Lose
RD 16 - Roos - 50/50
RD 17 - Bombers - Lose
RD 18 - Dees - 50/50
RD 19 - Swans - Lose
RD 20 - Pies - Lose
RD 21 - Hawks - Lose
RD 22- Eagles - Lose (eagles wont lose against the Cuz on there home turf, last round) but if they still happen to be inline for a PP (persoanlly i dont think they will) but if they're they wont win as they would give up a PP in the top 5...

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

we wont win any games, not due to our efforts, but simply where a shocking skilled football team, what the hell do they learn at training.
they need to start fresh next year with as many picks as possible and pray that some become AFL standard. if the rumours deledio wants out are true, theres another 2 picks there. we need a new group of kids to add to our list.

I see that Kerr and Cox are expected to miss again.
On top of Worsfold's extension the cue appears firmly in the rack for the Weagles.
Will be very surprised to see them win another game.

They were never going to beat Saints this week anyways. They will win again. They're a different team at home and they still have 3 or 4 very winnable games coming up. If come round 22 they still are on 4 wins, I'm sure we could chuck in Jake King and Jordan McMahon to push them across the line. >:D

thats vintage Barnzy, i like it, the wimp and the turnover merchant to create havoc for the tiges so as to get the weagles over the line...

word is both will play. they are smart they go full tilt against the good sides usually perform well and are then shizenhausen against middling to poor sides. so in effect they test themselves against the best to see where they are at and lay down against the rest.

worsfolds signing happened at an opportune time dont you think. theres been plenty of rumblings about his coaching and the lack of wins, but mid yr they make him safe from reprisal after realising they cant make finals. the dissent is going to get louder and louder when no more wins come their way but woosher will be safe for another two yrs.they are allowing him to go thru a losing PROCESS in safety,

if we are tanking its important we dont win another game until rnd 22 because i dont think we will be able to out tank them when they have a pick in the top 5 at stake. sheesh they could well end up with picks 2 and 4 they dont do things in half measures do they. sheesh since they won the gf in 06 they would have had 13 picks in the top 30 and got kennedy as well.
we may get 9. here they are coming from a premiership base in 06 yet have had many more top 30 picks than a perennial cellar dwellar like us.
worsfold wasnt kidding when he said they could win games and become a middling team or they could do it tough and build a premiership side. its the way to go bottom out and maximise the early picks.

for what its worth i dont think they were aiming for a low finish at the start of the yr. they dropped games they should have won early and really could have been 5 and 3 or 6 and 2 after 8 or 9 games. instead they had two wins against their names. by rnd 10 imo the cue had gone in the rack when finals became an improbability. the old if your going to finish out side the 8 finish low and get as many games into as many kids as possible.

Taking this one step further, are you suggesting that Richmond should have done the same thing with Wallace when they figured out that the team wouldn't make finals and given him a two-year extension to make him safe from reprisal?

Just asking.

the difference here totty is that worsfold had won a premiership and lost another by a few points he has some credits in the bank one would think, wallace on the other has had 5 yrs for no success and the writing was on the wall very early on....

I watched most of Wallace's last few games as coach live and understand why he was moved on.

I'm just amused by some of the statements made on this forum. I didn'tquite realise that "tanking" was such as exact Science. Sounds to me like we need to appoint a "Tanking" manager to get this important aspect of footy right.

yeah it feels like that, ahh luv it appoint a tanking manager, some teams put the cue in the rack early and send there players in for surgery us on the other hand like last year attempting to win every game but that was more wallet trying to get another deal with the RFC and not looking at the bigger picture building the list for the betterment of the club whether he was going to be their or not thats what wallace does look after himself first, what a snake..

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Tanking Manager wouldn't cut it. We need to call it the Draft Choice Optimisation Analyst.

hmmm, then again Tactical Analysis & New recruit Knowledge might be a better acronym.

thank you AT well said.
the other thing is woorsfold in league with his entire footy dept and board are playing heaps of kids they have been throwing them in since 06. wallace well even when he played em he stuffed em. played out of position given little game time and usually sent packing after their cameos. one thing worsfold has always done tha is play kids. i dont rate him as a coach but they have been good at promoting their youth.
