The Official "RFC Coaching Position" Discussion Thread

I'm still hopeful we'll go for Hinkley.

With Hardwick there'd always be the Port Adelaide thing in the back of everyones mind.

That's easily fixed we sign him to 3 years with a clause that allows him to go to Port if he wants to after 2 years but has to trade their first round pick to Richmond every year he is there for a Mars bar.

Can we make it a Snickers Bar instead ? Then we can use the line that we gave them peanuts in return for their first round pick.

I think we all can be a bit harsh on KB, I for one use to bag the crap out of him, but fact is he is part of the media now and has too have a opinion on things, other fact is he has more right then any of us to comment on the RFC

yeah but they're a crap opinions and some of his opinions (ie. his sheedy agenda) were hurting the club

Was reported early on that Hardwick wanted to clean out all the over 30s at the RFC. If he gets the gig hope he does minus Cuz!

well 5 of them should go. would be a bad call to let cuz go, but if that was what hardwaick wanted to do then i can live with that.

So at least 2 assistants will be Campbell & Johnson as a development coach I heard Kouta was looking to dip his toe in the coaching water he may be an option also maybe a Michael Wilson Hardwick premiership team mate?

i'm all for getting kouta. michael wilson would be an interesting choice. is he doing any coaching? i know he does some commentary for SEN

how many coaches in the past 20 years have jumped ship and gone to their old club? i can't think of too many.

Surely Richo and Cuz MUST stay. I can submit a list of at least 15 duds that should be delisted before either of those 2 are even considered. If Hardwick does get the gig, he wouldn't want to delist these 2 and keep duds like JON, Polak, McMahon, Polo, Pettifer, McGuane, Pattison, Hislop, Thomson, Hughes, Moore, etc, etc......

I know i'm slow but what has Jade done wrong? Hinkley, Hardwick, dammit gromit (anyone but wallace) are a risk as coach. Rawlings from where i stand has made a great start is now best positioned to make decisions on player futures.Whoever gets the coaching job out of the two finalists at best has an outsiders perspective and about a month until they have to make crucial list decisions.. hardly ideal. Another year potentially lost to go with the past 5.

On the subject of Richo and Cousins ..keep Cousins and decide if Richo can be our Bradley or Harvey ie play into his late 30's if his body is sound his dedication to the cause can't be faulted and there will be a lot of youngsters you would expect who will need to see genuine champions and the level required for a premiership ...hence keep Cousins and subject to physical firmness Richo.

Rawlings is a dud. Never been involved in a successful football culture. He's also been stained by the stench and failure of RFC in the Wallace era. The club needs a total clean out. All coaches should go; especially Campbell.

An outsiders perspective is probably what we need if we want to really change things around. Rawlings might have an understanding of the list but he would also have his favourites. With Hinkley or Hardwick everyone has a clean slate and has to effectively re-establish themselves as best 22 players.

Gee I don't know what Johnson will bring to the table.

Campbell will be retained you would think so hopefully 5 vacancies to fill plus the senior position.

lets be serious. what value has campbell brought so far. we need to toughen the club up. johnson and campbell should be sent packing.
if were gonna start the miracle turnabout of this club, lets start fresh.
dud players to go even if that mean 12 gone, dud coaches to go also...

The "you would think" was in relation to the fact that he is contracted not what he has brought to the table re. coaching.

We can at least expect a big preseason from either these 2 canditates concentrating on fitness and skill.

I think the playing group will be expecting their hardest training preseason in their AFL career.

they actually said that during the telecast, something along the lines of regardless of which candidate gets the gig, these players are in for a pre-season the likes of which they have never had before.

Just follow Cuz.

I'll be looking forward to this pre-season training. First time in 5 years and hopefully it's not as brainwashing as Wallace's was in 2004/05.

Hickley is now the clear favourite, has said exactly what the heirarchy of the RFC wanted to hear. As for Harddick, well sometimes telling the truth isn't really good. Apparently Damien has read the RFC the Riot Act and has advised them he will be taking the broom and sweeping most of the footy department out the door and will bring his own team to take over. Apprently some softcokks at the RFC are bitter about his proposed changes and the truth and don't like that too much.
