The Official "RFC Coaching Position" Discussion Thread

Hickley is now the clear favourite, has said exactly what the heirarchy of the RFC wanted to hear. As for Harddick, well sometimes telling the truth isn't really good. Apparently Damien has read the RFC the Riot Act and has advised them he will be taking the broom and sweeping most of the footy department out the door and will bring his own team to take over. Apprently some softcokks at the RFC are bitter about his proposed changes and the truth and don't like that too much.

hmmm. Now if it was Malthouse or Williams saying a complete footy department cleanout was required, I'd listen to them. But someone who has never coached his own senior team and been overlooked for numerous senior gigs before, I'd be a bit wary.

Will be at least four assistant coaching vacancies GPB so I don't know how true your info is.

King, Royal, Jade gone and a new assistant position will be created. Just hope they show McRea the door as well.

Are you expecting Hardwick to be the dose of viagra that this club needs to get its mojo back? He certainly has the name for it.

Sounds like that story someone posted a few days ago that was just a copy of the Essendon job position when Knights got the job ie. its bogus.

Where did you hear this from, because if they disliked him so much, why push him through to the final round?

Isn't the rumour board for fiction?

Heard that story a few times over the weekend. Seems like everyone wants to rehash the same lame joke.

I will repeat Gary March was absolutely impressed with one of the candidates in the 1st week of the 2nd round interviews - it was not Richardson.

Hardwicke will get the job.

What has Hinckley promised them finals next year ? ::)

Sounds like many supporters fears rather than fact. Hardwick is very upfront and rumours of him keen to cut deep into our list (bringing in his own coaches is fairly standard) have been around since long before our process even started. That being the case, if the Board were so opposed to his philosophies I doubt very much he would be at the Final 2 despite Port's interest.

No one would, there just isn't the means in one off season to replace the sheer amount required to be turned over/improved.

There is - I would rather below average kids playing for us than the same old hacks.

And you never know - we might find a diamond in the rough. Just replace the dud kids the following year with more kids.

Are we now in a period of "Total media blackout" on the issue of the next coach and who that might be?

Looks like Hutchy, Robbo, Caro, Jakey, Damien, Patty, Greggy and the others have all made a pact. If RFC aren't going to leak accurate information to them then they are not going to report anything. Nothing. Zilch. Nada. Niente. Rien. Nichts. They are not even going to speculate.

We may not find out for months if they keep this up. We might have to go to the first match next year and wait for the after-match press conference to find out.

:hihi I love it when you get all serious.

Don't shoot the messenger. it's what Terry Wallace said, and that's a fact, not that I would believe him for a second after what he did to our club over the last 5 years.

By my reckoning we need to turn over about 12 - 15 players. You show me where a club has done that, more to the point you show me where a club, any club has done that every year. Because there is always a team in poor health list wise.

After you've done that, consider this draft is going to be the shallowest in some time for a variety of factors. Not JUST the Gold coast influence. So of all years, this year is not the year to do it.

I understand your sentiment, but it is just not realistic IMO.

Wallace speaks utter crapola. Even more so now he has left the club. This is the same guy who raves for WEEKS about Tate Pears who he could have had if he hadn't got rid of the pick we had that would have claimed him and instead spent it on Sanchez.

Never fear mate, I'd never shoot you. You are far too good a company at Coburg on a cold, wintery day with your eagle eyes that spot prime talent to get excited about. ;)

Freo turned over 14 players last year through the drafts. Doubt we would do it, but it can be done if you don't mind a little short term pain for long term gain.
