The Official "RFC Coaching Position" Discussion Thread

Caro seems pretty confident about this, but I guess we'll see in time.
IF it's true, and not many journalists have been accurate so far, there will be a lot of happy punters on the boards today.
Jade was always going to miss out after the team's efforts during the past 2 games, but I hope he stays on in some capacity next year.
Unfortunately it seem that we're missing out on a great developer of young talent in AR (again if true) which is a massive shame. God knows we need to find a solution to that problem!!! And to think that we already had him until that muppet Wallet sent him on his way...

Hardwick and Hinkley both bring different qualities to the table, and undoubtedly would approach matters differently. I like Hardwick's toughness, and directness, but I also like Hinkley's knowledge, and from the very limited footage I've seen of him, his motivational ability. It's so line-ball for me, and I'd be very pleased ;D with either, but perhaps I'm ever so slightly leaning towards Hinkley.

I think that we should be happy that the process has left these two men standing in the race. Both seem to be great choices, I still want Hardwick as our coach. He has been great through out this process, he could of taken this port offer but if it is true that he has told them (port) that he want's to wait to see if he get's our job first indicates to me that he prefers the tiger job.

It would appear that there is some truth to Carolines story as Greg Denham from the Australian has the same info that the final 2 are Hinkley and Hardwick. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25962868-5012432,00.html

That's the bit that worries me. Not so much in relation to Hardwick - but that we may have a fight on our hands to keep our key uncontracted players. It's the genie in the bottle (as in BAD genie - not the Barbara Eden kind) for all clubs and a bigger issue than we give credit to.

Which is why if a significant player wants to be traded we have to refuse to deal. Let them go in the PSD. Its the only way to stop this sort of thing in its tracks.

 Is that true. A player holding the club to randsom over who is coach?

Thought those day were gone

Geez all these conspiracies. Hardwick has spoken to Port Adelaide so must mean he's not interested in the Richmond job. Last time I applied for a job I didn't apply one job at a time and wait for the results before moving on to the next. Hardwick desperately wants to coach at AFL level. That's a good sign. My guess is Port have targeted their man and have tried to get in early to convince him to come over to Port with a handover strategy. Hardwick would be silly not to keep his options open on that basis. Port are the ones doing the manouvering otherwise if they didn't care for losing Hardwick to Richmond or another club they would have waited till the end of the season to approach him (or not at all at this stage).

I have no doubt Hardwick would still be interested in the Richmond job if offered. Personally I think Hinkley has the front running at this stage based on information presented so far.

Hardwick has always had the Richmond job as his 1st preference (ahead of Roos and Port).
He's the frontrunner, Hinkley's presentation on Thursday night may have slightly let him down.
One more to go, will find out next week......Hardwick just in front but that may change

What do you know that others don't?

I know everything!! ;D

Actually, it was broadcast openly yesterday in the media that Hardwick was the frontrunner at this stage, so that shouldn't come as a surprise

There might be some nervous Richmond players tonight, possibly coming up against their future coach.

I am sure there will be plenty of cameras on Hardwick tonight to see which team he is concentrating on more.

do we really know that its down to 2? have richmond confirmed this? the media have been wrong on this since day 1. it seems stange to me that rawlings would be told he's out of the running 24 hours before a game...?

Richardson now has no obligation not to talk nor Essendon.

Maybe once the club had made the decision it was only fair to tell him straight away that way he won't find out from someone else.Seems the smart thing to do.So what if he's told 24 hours before a game.

Hope Newman likes the new Coach.

Picture this:

Newman: "Who's the new Coach?"

Deledio: "Hinkley!"

Newman: "Right! I was hoping to avoid this. Bring out The Gimp!"

Deledio: "The Gimp?"

Newman: "Yep, get me Jakey King!"

2 mins later: A leather clad, chained Jakey appears.

Newman (To The Gimp): "Gimpus, just scare him a little and he'll take off!"

Angus Graham: "What do you want me to do, Cap?"

Newman: "Pipe down. Angus. I said Gimpus not Gumpus!"

Seriously,
I hope The Captain (and all players for that matter) embrace the Coach otherwise you can roll up
"The Process" and set fire to it.
If the players are not behind the new Coach we are stuffed!

Bit early to be discussing disunity yet is it not?

Agree. It also frees up Rawlings to do what he thinks is right for the team today without him having an eye on a potential senior gig next year.

I can't help but think that when Jade through his hat into the ring publicly, our onfield performance dropped.

Given that its been reported by 2 seperate newpapers you would have to assume that there is some truth to it.
