March was on a radio a week or so ago and stated that the sub-committee will hold greater sway on who gets the job, since they are the ones who have sat with them over this exhaustive process.Mr Pumblechook said:I find the final presentation to the board a bit strange.
We have had four candidates complete extensive 3-4 hour interviews with the coaching selection panel. Obviously very thorough. Two will be selected to present to the board, although presumably the coaching selection panel will make a recommendation.
Although the board will make the final selection, should it really be any more than an endorsement of the coaching selection panel's preferred choice?
After all, the coaching selection panel are presumably the experts in this regard, and although I'm sure all the board are all competent and prominent within their personal endeavours, they aren't (for the most part) coaching or football experts.
Could/should the board select someone different to who is recommended?
Which prompts the question - why are the final two making presentations?

..... Ultimately the coaching sub-committee will make the final decision.

The presentation to the Board would be like attending an Open Day at Uni. Just a meet and greet for both parties. Ultimately the coaching sub-committee will make the final decision.

gustiger12 said:Agree otherwise the whole process would be pointless if the board are not going to take onboard the recommendations of the sub committee. Might as well have just done a presentation to the board and made a choice from there.
The board members with a football role have been involved in the process pretty much anyway.

Feels like Christmas morning.
Just hope we don't end up with socks and undies.:laughsanta

Tiger74 said:Denham said today they two candidates will speak to the board, THEN the sub-committee will come in and give their feedback and votes on the two men (with their subsequent recommendation).
Mr Pumblechook said:So essentially, now that the interviews are concluded, for the first time the sub-committee/club know who the next coach will likely be.
For the first time, rumours from here on in will have some weight! What was that the Boss said this morning about Hardwick...

Tiger74 said:I reckon the sub-committee have a lot of thinking to do now, and given how close things are, it could go anyway.
ToraToraTora said:that would conclusively prove the club has utterly ignored media and supporter pressures, and is doing things far more professionally than it has done for a long time.
