The Official "RFC Coaching Position" Discussion Thread

Do you really believe that? I would choose Port over Richmond any day of the week if I want success. The only problem is he has to wait 2 years and he wants a job now.

All comes down to if you feel the allure of getting a Big Four club truly back into the Big Four again. All potential coaches have egos, make no mistake about it, the lure of Richmond would be strong to some now. I think the long list of candidates we had this time around reflects this also.

Who knows what Hardwicks lifestyle is like either? His family life? he went from Melbourne to Adelaide back to Melbourne, he might not want to go back to adelaide now for whatever reasons and might relish the media attention a coach gets in Melbourne.

Who knows, but he must be tempted or surely he would have dropped out the second the Port offer was made or earlier and pursued the Port option aggressively.

It's just my gut feel but I think Hardwick really wants our role and that is the only reason North overlooked him.

Mark Allen, SEN golf knob, just said on KB's show that Hardwick has the job in an 8-3 board vote.....has the board actually met on this yet?

No they haven't.

God aren't we sick of this yet.

Yeah, it's getting a bit repetitive and annoying. The only positive out of this so far is that the media have no idea what's going on so we have plugged the holes well and truly up - thanks Tezza.

Do we even have 11 board members to arrive at a 8-3 vote??

The reality is that everyone has NFI about what the subcommittee and the Board are thinking which is a great thing and an amazing feat at Titanicmond.

& the best thing is, no matter what people's individual preferences are, I think we are in a situation for once where every supporter is going to be able to get behind the appointment. The whole club can get behind the appointment.

A stable club, willing to work with the new head honcho is exactly the starting point we need.

I am very pleased with how this is all turning out for us.

Unless it's the Blade of course >:D

I didn't hear him initially, did he say how he knew? How the hell would a golf person get this sort of information footy journo's haven't.

Someone give Tez a bell....see what he's heard. :hihi

Board: "Ahhh stuff the lot, they're all rejected, come back Tezza we miss ya babe !" :hihi

Wasn't Brad Scott a golfing partner of James Brayshaw or something like that?

Maybe the golf course is the new boardroom...

Even if your right, even if you have a so called contact, your credibility is zero after your Buckley charade, which you now admit was BS, or is it just a case of trying to save face, after all if you guess long enough, throw enough names around often enough, your bound to have a post somewhere you can fall back on to try and give the impression you actually are somehow in the know.

Ever hear the story about the boy who cried wolf.

good call - we have 9

Denham said this best on SEN this morning "no clear favourite". Said final two he felt would be Hardwick and Hinkley, but it was too close to call, and we should not rule out Richardson either (things are that close)

Denham would have far better information than Richmond hating flogs like Mark Allen. I wouldn't mind betting he made the whole thing up.

I think thats a fair and commonsense call given the quality of three of the candidates.

The one things thats bloody obvious is that the so called informed Journo's have no more idea than we do and are simply making judgement calls on pretty much the same stuff we are hearing.

Whilst I hate not being able to get snippet on this, its great that our mysterious leak seems to have dried up for some reason about mid season.......hmmmm how could that be.

Doesn't neccesarily mean it was actually who are you alluding to. Could simply have been someone with an agenda against him ;)

The Age reports that Harwick was overlooked by North as he seemed more interested in coaching elsewhere. In essence this left them with Crocker and Scott.

It also said that Hardwick won't give Port an answer until the Richmond process is over.

have you got a link for this TBH??? i can't find it on the net.

Reading between the lines from those in the know I might be having a few dollars on Hardwick today.

Sounds like it could still go either way.

Agree, Hardwick might be just ahead at this stage.
