The Official "RFC Coaching Position" Discussion Thread

I don't see how I am being a fool for laughing at the way North made their decision. You are also agreeing with me in even using the words laughable yourself about their process. So you are confusing me mate. ???

A lot of people are ridiculing the coach, not the process. A lot of the same people were doing that at Hawthorn only to have egg on their faces. Have a go at the process by all means, just be wary of having a go at their coach. As I understand it you agree with the decision of Scotty as their coach, so all is good mate.

Hardwick himself even fired a parting shot in saying it would have been nice to meet Brayshaw during their "process" and Brayshaw even then just shirked in his chair and made a silly little boy's joke.

Yep, heard that although it came from Hutchy so do not know how true it is. Hardwick seemed to have his hand in a few pies too though, so he can't feel that let down surely?

A lot of people on here are getting a little carried away with comparisons with Hawthorn and North, utterly different thing. One followed a process, one didn't. As I have said ad nauseaum, North are just lucky they got a sharp mind prepared for the modern era as opposed to a Riley, Frawley or Rhode etc.

Yes but I am warning people just like they ridiculed Clarkson the coach, they are doing the same with Scott. At the end of the day mate, if you agree with the decision of Scott as head coach for them, then surely the process in all of it pales into some type of insignificance? Lucky or love at first sight? We'll find out.

I agree with you that the process was laughable, but they got a good coach, so do not know why we differ on this at all :hihi

Aye, that i was guilty of also, but I was just an innocent pup then. :help

It's ok guys, I reckon saying five Ken 'Oaths and one Hail Gale should be enough penance

Indeedy.

Good point.

He's not entitled to that is for sure :hihi Though just another mark of their joke of a process if true and actually goes AGAINST was Brayshaw said on Sunday. He said he had not spoken to any of the candidates (except Croker i assume :hihi) but he would be soon and they would probably make a decision (he was at pains to say he couldn't say for sure) but "probably by the end of the week". Next day he has not even spoken to Hardwick and he is announcing the new coach. Really reeks.

Sure, just as I said a different thing to the Hawthorn thing for mine. Take your point though about if they got a quality bloke how does it matter, but have to stress though, until proven, he is just a quality potential top coach. Obviously the proof will be in the pudding so to speak. Plenty of highly rated potential coaches crumbled under the accountability.

I just find it a bit mind boggling how Brayshaw and his board make the decisions about the clubs future, while he STILL is missing his promised white knights. I'd be very concerned if I was North member about the direction of the club. No matter how promising we both agree Scott is, they have selected a bloke 2 years out of the game without a proper process over far more credentialed options.

Not saying they shouldn't have chosen Scott as you know, but if you are going to do that you would think you would compare them properly against yardsticks, other candidates. Brayshaw admits himself he knows nothing about selecting coaches or what to look for in them. Merely hoping Scott actually has a club to coach in 3 years because Brayshaw is looking to be standing on very weak knees and the leadership of the club is a real worry.

Lucky?, love at first sight? or a bitter divorce imminent? I just hope North can afford child support if the latter. ;D

Yeah but I would assume that had more to Wallace talking crap for most of the allotted time than anything else.

He had no other competition.

In all seriousness, yeah has me thinking maybe there was a bit of personal details being discussed.

4 hours is a very long interview. Especially when you consider the others didn't get anywhere near that time.

Very interesting it is.
From all reports Hardwicks interview went for 3 hours. And last night Hutchy said that Hinkleys went for 4 hours. But how does he know that when he then reports that Hinkley was driven away via the back door? Is he basing that 4 hour interview from the time the sub-committee entered and then left the building?? The sub-committee could have stayed back for an hour to discuss all the applicants since now all 2nd round interviews have been completed. Pure specualtion as always by Hutchy.

I still dont think that Hinkley is over the line and in saying that I think Hardwick is still in it with a big chance.

Hopefully the board will do their job and appoint Hardwick. This club needs some mental and physical toughness more so than ever. I just have a feeling Hinkley will try and play the psychiatrist with our players and it will end in disaster. These guys need to be put through some very, very hard physical and mental training without relief. I believe Hardwick can deliver on both.

I have it on good authority that the meeting went for 4 hours because they ran out of hot pies and sausage rolls and had to make a dash up to the 7-11 in Bridge Rd and wait for them to reheat some more. While that was happening Ricky Nixon went looking for a bottle shop that was still open.

The pies and bourbon delayed the interview by about 90 minutes. ;)

Yeah and there wasn't much of a comeback by Brayshaw other than lots of people want to meet him.

Last night was a great scoop by Hutchy.............

Fancy standing out in the cold for four hours, big live cross, and he had absolutely nothing to add......funny.......as....

and Richo to rub a bit of salt into the wound for good measure.

How much did he earn for that little bit of insight.

Could have paid Donald duck half as much to stand out there and get nothing.

The Age reports that Harwick was overlooked by North as he seemed more interested in coaching elsewhere. In essence this left them with Crocker and Scott.

It also said that Hardwick won't give Port an answer until the Richmond process is over.

hehe it didn't take long for the gossip to start filtering out of north melbourne.

Is anyone honestly suprised by the above?

Was this reported today? I cant seem to find anything about it in the The Age.

Reading between the lines from those in the know I might be having a few dollars on Hardwick today.

Sounds like it could still go either way.

Does anyone believe it is not down to Hardwick & Hinkley now?

As attractive as Hardwicks 5 year Port offer would be, I'm tipping he would prefer to coach Richmond. I don't believe for a second Hardwick has any attachment to Port that would influence his decision ala Buckley.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see the forgotten man, Richardson, get the gig. All the focus has been on Hardwick and Hinkley but that is all media and supporter focus. The reality is that everyone has NFI about what the subcommittee and the Board are thinking which is a great thing and an amazing feat at Titanicmond.

Do you really believe that? I would choose Port over Richmond any day of the week if I want success. The only problem is he has to wait 2 years and he wants a job now.

If Hardwick didn't want the Richmond job why tell them about the Port offer!

He wants to be a senior coach now and will take our job over Ports if offered it

Mark Allen, SEN golf knob, just said on KB's show that Hardwick has the job in an 8-3 board vote.....has the board actually met on this yet?
