Re: What happens if the Roos and Tigers both pick Hardwick?

He has already said we are his preferred choice.

I wonder if after today that is still the case.

I take it you believe every single player should also be delisted, given their link to Wallace.

I'd like to delist about 20 of them, but we all know that's not practical. That's why it will take a good 3 - 5 years to rebuild. And I was one of the brightsiders! I think when a new coach is appointed he should be given free rein to appoint his own coaching staff. I cannot believe the club would be telling the new coach who to appoint. If he sees the need to keep Rawlings on as an assistant, then fine. But IMO, Rawlings is a long, long way from what we need.

I agree that Rawlings isn't what we need as coach. He isn't ready at this point in his career.

Look there was a lot of people happy when Rawlings was appointed caretaker coach.

the concensus was it would take pressure of us when deciding on the new coach as he really wouldn't be considered with the focus on not winning games and not losing either but he would play the youth & give opportunities to players who we needed to see to make decisions on with a view to the future.

i think people are confusing the fact that he is playing youth & giving certain players opportunities and that we have won a few games with him being a good coach. the judgement of Rawlings shouldn't be based on winning or losing but on the performance of the team. are we developing and getting better in key areas like our game plan, etc, and how much we have improved as a team.

today clearly showed we still have plenty of deficiencies. Rawlings we must remember is 31, has i think 2 years as assistant coach at the RFC under TW with no success, has 1 1/2 years as coach of Coburg, and 1/2 a year as caretaker coach.

while i think he is doing a good job in the role he was asked to do, i still think he is not experienced enough, especially compared to other candidates, to be given the role of RFC coach for next 2010 and beyond

as was my view the day he was signed as caretaker coach. it should be just that a 'caretaker' position and he will not be appointed senior coach for 2010. it would not be in the best intersts of the RFC for the future.

our next coach, his assistants and the entire football department have alot of hard work ahead of them. alot. the priority pick would have been nice but the the club can't see past its nose.

it's funny how we are brought back to reality quickly, what have those meaningless wins achieved ? - nothing.

let's pull our heads out of the sand

With today's performance, given that we are undermanned in some areas, I still can't see how the 'process' has Rawlings as one of the favourites for coach.

This bloke would learn better as an assistant coach.

agree to some extent. good reality check for all of us today

whoever it is could do worse than watch the saints game on the weekend - if the structure and intensity are there on the ground - it doesn't matter as much who the personnel are - and this is the primary role of the coach.

Any developments guys?

Anyone?

Bueller?

From a pretty solid source - the coach will come from Hardwick, Hinkley or Laidley. Dean needs to be properly interviewed where he can present his plan, list evaluation etc.. but he has a lot of fans at Punt Rd.

However this is no real secret as it the snippets where in most papers over the weekend.

Hopefully it is Hardwick then.

A.Richardson?

Why does Laidley get a free pass into the next round of interviews when he hasn't even been interviewed yet. Don't like it at all.

Laidley is just an opportunist. From what Ive heard he hates our club.
Id be happy with either Hardwick, Hinkley or Richardson

Agreed.

But in this order, Hardwick, Richardson, Hinkley.

yeah if laidleys rumoured reaction to our beating of north earlier in the year is true, then he should be told by the RFC to *smile*.

That seems to be most people's order.

If we got Hardwick I will be dancing on the rooftops, Richardson - very happy, Hinkley - will be like hmm interesting, but still pretty happy given his success and Rawlings - :-\

the interview with laidley is not necessarily about the head coaching role. apparently he is open to assistant coaching, director of coaching roles, and what possibilities richmond has in mind.
