2007 - Development at Collingwood

2008 - Opposition Analysis at Collingwood

2009 - Midfield at Collingwood

Good grounding in three main areas.

He is a good shout.

I like the fact the cream has risen to the fore in Hardwick, Hinkley, Richardson and Scott, bit surprised with Cameron, thought he would make it to te next round at least, he has a good reputation at the Bulldogs.

I would be really over the moon with any of those four fine candidates.

Not really keen on Rawlings, I do like him, but think he is streets away from these guys in terms of success, experience and mentors.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if we could somehow come away with more than a senior coach out of this process.

We're in the market for at least two assistants as well.

Someone like Brad Scott may just see it as a very good opportunity to advance his career, even if he misses out on the main job. As Wallace and King have found out, coaching Richmond and gettting it wrong is a real deal-breaker but going there and getting it right will be enormous.

High-risk strategies can have the biggest pay-off, if you have the ticker to do it.

They need to be confident in the off-field administration to put their balls on the line like that. If they feel the club is run like a basket case as it has in the past they won't touch us with a 40 ft pole. However given how positive most pundits on this site are regarding the off-field running of the club, it may not be as absurd a possibility as first thought. Perhaps Laidley may be keen on the director of coaching position.

BTW, Hinkley, Hardwick, Richardson and Scott are all Back pocket players too.

Don't remember Hinkley as a BP, I remember a very classy HF, maybe wing. Started with Fitzroy and absoltely starred, headline-grabbing game-turner, got homesick and went home to the western districts. Parkin tried everything but couldn't get him to stay. Came back more mature to geelong. Also remember him being suspended in the finals for the prelim and gF which put a huge dent in Geelong's chances.

Hinkley might have played BP I dunno, but not the tough unfashionable types the others are.

FWIW As players I'd rate the Hinkley, Daylight, Hardwick, Richardson, daylight, Scott

He spent quite a bit of time in defence, from memory he was one of the first to play the loose man in defence role during his time at Geelong. He was very important in their backline but that Blight team had a large number of skilful front-runner types.

I agree with you though that he certainly wasn't a hard man back pocket in the Sheedy sense.

Scott is an interesting one. Has learned the game under Matthews and Malthouse, two of the best in the business.

Probably needs to be the senior assistant somewhere befoe being ready for the top job

Heard on the radio that it's now down to four, with both the boys I liked still in there.

Rawlings, Hinkley, Hardwick & Richardson.

I won't mention the horses I've backed for fear I might put the "mockers" on them.

;)

Dunno! Maybe?

Wouldn't be the first time the media has made a wrong announcement. ;)

Where's Hutchy when you need him?

He certainly played as a backamn with the Cats, although not sure about BP. Mainly recall him playing off a HBF and being able to get the ball moving forward with a minimum of fuss.

I know there is talk of Laidley getting interviewed, but I am not sure he is a realistic chance anyway. If you throw his name in with the 4 previously mentioned as being left in the race, he looks an odd fit.

Yes, we have a process. Just a bit weird I guess.

OK, boys, you called me out. You should know by now that, like a lot of posters on PRE, I never let a few inconvenient facts get in the way of the point I am trying to make.

Back pocket, half-back flank, Loose man in defence....same...all same. This time anyway.
