The Official "RFC Coaching Position" Discussion Thread

Re: sorry Rosy my previous heading was inappropriate :p

agree with all comments apart from this one : we should appoint jade.

A new coach always starts well... refer to the geish factor.....

thats not to say if the club follows its "process" and finds that jade is the best applicant -- thats fine by me ..

but we must follow a proper management process.... in the past big decisions have been made on emotion.

I can feel another Terry Wallace/Paul Roos Sydney scenario coming along, where the players support for Roos was so great, they had no choice but to sign him. Rawlings was asked if he wanted to be there next year by Robbo, and there was definitely a hint of emotion when he said he really cared for his players. He has unquestionably, got the players behind him. Just give him some handy development and Assistant Coaches to give him all the tools he will need.

no chance, Sheeds tried that with KB backing him up and the board held firm

Good thing is this is a new Richmond where the players do not run the club, as shown by March with the Wallace fiasco with the players.

I am confident in what I have heard first hand from Cameron, March and Wright that "player power" will not be an influence in this decision.

This could qualify as an oxymoron.

my biggest concern is what the hell is graig cameron doing sitting in the box during the game , front row too ???????????????

i firmily belive that we must follow the process and conduct all the interviews so we get the right coach,i just hope that jade can win the position through that process.GO JADE!!!

If Jade goes through our "process" and the club deems him to be the best one to take on the coaching job we should show Jade our support.

One swallow doesn't make a summer. Don't get sucked in by a win that would have been pencilled in pre-season. IMO Rawlings is part of the old Wallace regime we need to break away from. Of course he is going to have player support as a new coach right now - lets see if he has the people management skills when the honeymoon ends? It's easy to drop big name players when you have nothing to lose - if it pays off you're a genius. It's easy to be honest. I can go and tell one-third of our players they're duds - but what then?

In the cold light of day - sorry Jade, you're not our man. No time for sympathies.

Magnificently put & spot on

Must take into account that we have one of the easiest draws in the competition in the 2nd half of the season
If he managed to outperform all the other candidates and gets the job on his merits, then brilliant, give him the job. However he's also now made it public that he wants to stay either way so if we get someone better then brilliant.

C'mon people don't fall into the Unleash the Giesch trap.

If Jade finishes the season with some more respectable performances in which he has already by-passed Wallace's team performances (IMO), he should be assistant coach to the new coach and they can look for someone else to take over Coburg.

exactly - personally I doubt Jade will get the job, but I hope he has a great stint to lock in a role as one of our assistants again (it appears he is growing into the role)

Agree TF.

I dont really have a preference right now,but Jade is doing all the right things. He is dropping or threatening to drop players who previously under Wallace would have thought they were untouchable.

He is playing players in their correct positions & he is playing the youngsters & we look a better team for it.He is putting the club 1st & even if he doesn't get the job he will leave the place in a better state & given whoever gets the job a proper look at what some players could be capable of.
