The Finals thread

We're arguing in circles but for the record I expect to see some of our worst decision makers to be phased out sooner rather than later. Our top 6 -10 will be as good or better than most and most people overrate the bottom 6 of most top clubs.

Only Geelong bats real deep and even then there are still question marls over a Hawkins, West & Byrnes. Hawks had 3 or 4 spuds out there. Blues had about 7. West Coast actually bat fairly deep but they are still young.

I know I'd be more comfortable going a final with Grimes and Rance as my young backs rather than Schoenemahers and Murphy.

And I'd be happy going into a final with Vickery and Jack as my key forwards rather than Thornton and O Hailpen or Waite.

An I'm looking forward to Cotch, Dusty, Foley, Conca and Deledio taking on the good midfields the top 5 teams have.

But you are right - getting the support cast right is where the premierships come from!

Hope we can avoid trading picks out for Maric. Despite the supposive weak draft if we can get our first 2 picks right plus add Maric and then add Morris then i think we have done well. Verrier is also being looked at as a 3rd/4th rounder. Think he could be something special in a few years. 188cm/82kg quick running mids who can kick don't grow on trees. This is the draft to get right as a lot will stuff up. Next year more clubs will do well in so harder to get an advantage. Our support cast will come from our next few drafts. Maybe another 1 or 2 suprises from within due to our expanded footy dept.

Never seen a worse performance in a finals series than that of Chance Bateman.

He was Collingwoods best player by far.

Cost Hawthorn the game.

Umpires were trash in the last quarter too. But Chance Bateman, boy oh boy!

Agree Bobby, my brother is a dawks supporter and was at the airport in honkers watching the game (free beer in airport lounge!) and he rang me after the game to bemoan Bateman's disastrous last quarter. What a shocker. And the free against Puopolo in the last minute was bloody harsh. And Gibson should have got a free against Brown when davis goaled. At least we can watch the Pies lose another GF.

Who would want to play the cats next week? Signs are ominous today. 100 pointer on the cards at a minimum.

agree. for some reason players sheparding a goal through can do things that would be a certain free anywhere else on the ground.

We would put on a better performance then West Coast,
Geelong Week 3 of the 2011 finals = Bye

One wonders how energy sapping last night will be.

Nic Nat only thing keeping WC in it. This kid is going to be a superstar. LOL @ the questioning of him on PRE not long ago.

How poor is Ten's coverage? Why would you cut to a close-up of an injured player in the middle of a Geelong movement through the middle with a WC player gaining on the next reciever?

Cats flying at the right time of the season.

Will destroy Collingwood next week.

Can't see the Pies turning it around against the Cats. Cloke is the key and the cats have Scarlett/Taylor/Lonregan to compete against him. Don't see the pies kicking enough goals nor competing physically with the cats.
