The Finals thread

I agree, Champion. Dead set unplayable for years. Was the number one forward with Jonathan Brown for years.

How some do forget though. Has declined, but most would playing his style for years.

My main image for Nick will be the best mark I ever saw, the one at the SCG. Remarkable.

Champion in marking ? I can't see where this guy was a champion compared to gut-runners and match-winners like Goodes, Richo, Cuz, Judd.

Laughable. Nick Riewoldts workrate matched all of the players you have mentioned. His workrate is legendary.

Reiwoldts form this year hasn't been due to injury its been due to the changes in the game the last couple of years which have made it much harder for forwards like him.

Hasn't been the same player since the injury. Before it was in ripper form. Wasn't long ago at all.

Knocking Riewoldts gut running is funny. Very funny.

As is his marking. An exceptional exponent of the craft.

Here's the mark Bob for those who want to question his courage. Have a good look.

Is a completely fair player who has carried some very poor teammates across the line more times than most players can dream of.

5 Best & Fairests in an award where midfielders have a leg up & in teams that have invariably made finals stamps him as a great player.

Very short memories.

I wouldn't call leading into open space and taking chest marks as gut running.

I can't even remember any match-winning performances created by him. Add Jonathan Brown to that list. How many bruises did Nick cop?

I or we have seen Richo do way more than that when it comes to marking and gut-running. Two different things.

He will never be in a Saints premiership. They just dont have the team around him to be close to a premiership.

I'd rather see a player with more skill and creativity (Jack) than athleticism (Nick).

I love how the Blues would have been in a better position if they'd finished 7th rather than 5th. :clap

They would have taken care of the Saints last night, got to stay in Melbourne, and then face the wounded Hawks next week.

Instead by finishing 5th they now have to take on one of their main rivals who have got nothing to lose and then travel to Perth next week to take on the in-form Weagles.

With every wasted year Judd's legs get older and wearied from carry the team around. Window is closing....

Just read the last two pages of this thread and couldn't believe all the love for St Nicky Waxjob.

Tiger fans have seriously short memories ( must have recently developed them watching us fail so many times ). Richoman has St Nicky covered in every aspect of the game.
Gut running.
Contested and uncontested marking.
Goal kicking.
Recovery from more and more serious injuries.
Elite performance with far less structural support from the team.
Longevity at elite performance.
Richo even beats him at popularity and personality/ supporter appreciation from the general footy public.
The only thing St Nicky has that almost compares is own club supporter reverence.
Tiger supporters love Richo just for the player and person he was / is. Saints fans love Rooey with a Trevor Barker fixation, he's their shiny blond haired adonis, the only two things they've had to hang their hat on since their one and only flag.

One last comment just for the hell of it. Jaaack's a better footballer than St Nicky. St Nicky's a better running athlete.

Looking forward to todays game. Should be a ripper. Ratts would be feeling very very nervous but should win.
