The Blair "Which?" Project

Cats have geared up for a big list management shake next year.
And free up some salcap coin. Expect them to be up to their eyeballs chasing FAs
I'm expecting the RFC to do the same..

Lots out of contract next year.

One or two more retirments likely and a raft of players with contracts expiring.

Next year is gonna be a more hectic trade period for mine.

Because we don’t have money, so we don’t get to chase a Todd Marshall or Hugh McCluggage.

I looked at the list and picked a player I think would fill a need and flies under the radar. I think he’s a reasonable mark for his size, I think he’s got good hands and is quick enough.

Our forward line is horrific (that is underselling it) and Hayward has averaged 1.3, 1.4 & 1.1 goals per game the last 3 years. He’d absolutely slot straight into our forward line. Do you not think he wouldn’t take Graham/Pickett/Mansell’s spot in our forwardline?
I get where you're coming from.
Its a moneyball pick - value for money.
Except Hayward isnt.
he does have good hands.
but he doesnt run up in the midfield so he doesnt take Grahams spot.
he doesnt compete with the 2nd and 3rd key back so he doesnt take Picketts spot.
he doesnt play high pressure fwd pocket terrier style, so he doesnt take Mansells spot.
he doesnt fill these roles.
At best he is a 3rd target forward. Thats Dusty Cumbo or Bauer.
so its not a hole in our list.

I watch every swans game because of the better half. I can cheer Hayward when he kicks goals.
I wouldnt have him on my team though.

Why McGrath??
Rather go after someone that can play.
Underwhelming at best is McGrath.
How did he go number 1. He reminds me of Anthony Banik
Blinkers on.
The guy can play.
Multiple B&Fs backs this up.
I wouldn’t chase him but he would be an asset to most clubs

People get too tied up with where players were picked. Sure he was a number 1 draft pick and he probably hasn't lived upto that tag, but he's still a good player that if you get him for the right price would be an asset. He's obviously not a player you'd pay $800k to, so it depends what he wants and where he thinks teams lists are at if he considers leaving. For a team that has performed so poorly for so long, they've done fairly well keeping their best players there.

Todd Marshall. Open the cheque book.

Everyone else is second priority.
