Some posters say that Cumberland isn't a free agent .

Not a free agent but Aaron Cadman is out of contract at end of 2024 and has not yet re-signed with GWS.

Battle to replace Grimes
Marshall or Cadman to replace Lynch.
Not convinced we should be offering king 1.5mill too Injury prone

Will Hayward the one for me
Serious?
Very inconsistent, mid sized forward. Not extraordinarily fast. Nice high mark for his size, but not big, strong or gifted.

He bobs up every now and then to get a goal. Or do something stupid.

I cant see whose position he would take.
Or why we would want him.
So (long deep breath) why is he your choice?

Cats have geared up for a big list management shake next year.
And free up some salcap coin. Expect them to be up to their eyeballs chasing FAs

Because we don’t have money, so we don’t get to chase a Todd Marshall or Hugh McCluggage.

I looked at the list and picked a player I think would fill a need and flies under the radar. I think he’s a reasonable mark for his size, I think he’s got good hands and is quick enough.

Our forward line is horrific (that is underselling it) and Hayward has averaged 1.3, 1.4 & 1.1 goals per game the last 3 years. He’d absolutely slot straight into our forward line. Do you not think he wouldn’t take Graham/Pickett/Mansell’s spot in our forwardline?

We'll have cap space next year you'd think. Dusty coming off contract will either stay for less or go. Grimes and Prestia likely to retire. A couple of mid-rangers like KMac, Broad, Graham could go and be replaced by a Superhunk on lower wages.

I think we'll be more likely to trade, though. King and Cadman the likely targets, hoping to get one of them. Clug would be the one for me if we go for a free agent. Same age bracket as Shai, Taranto, Bakes, Rioli, Hopper, Balta, and the kind of classy, pacey mid we need. Feel he'll be hard to prise out of Brisbane though.

Todd Marshall a good kick....his other attributes? Every game I have seen him play, he is talked up but rarely delivers.

Text book player, good technique and highly skilled for someone 200cm. Not a beast competitor like Lynch but not all KPF are, he kicks goals and still has a long career ahead of him. Would solve a gaping hole up Forward imo.

I’m not convinced. We’d have Dustin’s cash planned for in Lynch, Bolton, Taranto, Hopper, Vlastuin, Short, Rioli’s long term contracts.

In my opinion, our immediate future cap space went to Bolton, Taranto and Hopper. I don’t expect us to be any kind of big free agent threat for at least another 2-3 years.

Lynch is contracted until 2025 only, so only 1 more year after Dustin. His $'s would take a severe decline after that time (if he plays on). Either we have backended a bunch of contracts to fit them in, or there will be plenty to play with in the cap, particularly post 2025.

Yeah I’m thinking most our long term contracts are backended. Don’t know if that’s necessarily right or wrong but I think having to do it for Lynch and Martin means we’ll have been needing to do it for a lot of our long term deals.

Spot on, for the life of me I cannot see why we would chase Marshall. Extremely overrated and not exactly a pack breaker, too soft
