Team changes v Port

Can't see Batchelor or especially Morris being omitted, tho would like McDonough to replace Steve

Edwards to return for Menadue; don't stress it, Connor, your time will come

I'll assume Lids will be fit enough to be risked interstate; McDonough if not / 1st emergency

Grif in for Elton, give McBean a 2nd week

Run your proverbials off, Tiges, take the game on!

Assuming Houli and Lids are OK then I think your two changes maybe about it - and those two should make a positive difference to the team.

Pity I have to wait all weekend for this game - I don't like the late Sunday games

Yes, they could. But it's not as simple as selecting a player already on the senior list

They could promote him if they move Butler to the LTI list.
A couple of other options too unfortunately. Knights and Petterd both could, and I think I read last week that Drummond already has been.

Could probably shift Lambert on or Axle as well. Lots of room to kick out experienced players n push up rookies, might not have enough rookies to fill all the holes.

Out: McBean, Menadue,
In: Griff, Edwards, Madonna (squeeze him in somewhere.)

Judging from the VFL game McDonagh ain't gonna be squeezed anywhere.

After watching the replay and focussing on Beanie, I will be pissed off if he's dropped. Not only was his game a good one, it had the air of more to come soon.

So you would prefer him in the team to Griffiths ? Plenty of time for Liam to force his way back in

In for Elton or a mid size player like Batch. Dropping McBean when he looks set to explode and played in, and possibly caused, a functioning forward line for the first time in the season is insanity IMO.

So after finally getting another game and doing okay at it, you want Elton to be demoted again? Who covers his role in defence? Do we try Griffiths as a defender again? I was pleased to see Liam play, and I think he showed potential, but I didn't see anything that suggested he was ready to explode. He had 3 quarters, took 2 marks, missed a shot on goal, although he was part of the combination with Corey Ellis that gave a goal to Maric. It's promising, but not enough to keep a more experienced player like Griffiths out. Griff can also play in the ruck, something that McBean cannot do at AFL level. I think McBean will be a good addition to our forward line and should get more senior opportunities throughout the season, but I'd also like to see him add some muscle to his frame which will enable him to compete better with the bigger bodies he'll encounter at senior level.

heh, who would have thought that we'd be in a position with too many quality and up and coming talls to fit into the squad.

Francis Jackson has a lot to answer for

Didn't say that. If it was up to me I'd give griff a week in the seconds, but given they prob won't, I'd drop Elton rather than McBean. I don't 'want Elton demoted', I'd love to see Elton get a run of games. Our number 1 problem all year has been a non-functioning forward line. Last week McBean came in and it functioned well.

On Beanie, watch the replay, key involvements the whole first half. More than just 1 goal. Tough, instinctive key involvements, fast hands, some against 2 or 3 opponents, good ball use under pressure. Great stuff. (Lamb detailed his involvements in another thread)

yep, despite not scoring a goal and turning powerade into Penfolds Grange, Beanie looked like he belonged out there which is pretty good for a 1st gamer.

I think McBean looked good when he touched it, but not enough to keep his spot. 7 touches and an out on the full isn't really enough, I don't think. By no means am I a McBean knocker, it's just that he's not quite ready. Had we lost I doubt people would be saying he stays.

Griff to come back.

It's a waste of time playing Liam in the twos and we are a better team with him in and we will get better exponentially as he plays more games.

Griff should come back via VFL.

it is worth remembering Hardwick has left McBean to rot in the VFL for nearly 8 years, or something.
